I like it better when you explain each step and having a body to put some light into what you are doing. Looking from a far side is difficult to see. Specially for people like me who are not mechanics .

I didn't want to squeeze the intake manifold out but the more I look at other options, it actually doesn't look that bad. It's worth it to just make as much space a possible. Otherwise it's a pain working in such a tight space. Of all the other vids I watched, you made it the easiest job IMO.

Watched a ton of videos before attempting. Yours seemed the most logical. Clearly you are a pro mechanic. I am not, but I’ve had my crv for 10 yrs and have not had to take to a shop, thanks to you! So glad I found your vid. There was no way I could have loosened that 17mm from the bottom! Ps, I didn’t have to take the front grill off.👍🏻💪

First start after install produced irradic idle but then I turned it off and started again and idle was fine. Guess the vacuum lines had to reset or something. All good! Thanks so much for posting. Much appreciated!

Well done. You're the first poster that has shown where the solenoid is located. If it's just a bad solenoid, you don't need replace the starter, right?

Make sure to check the hood release cable before you close the hood! This efffup job will be harder than the starter swap (90% successful, forgot a vacuum hose so the idle is crazy).

I cannot imagine wrenching on Honda automobiles all day. I get the shakes just from having to do an oil change on select models. For some stupid reason they have the oil filter right on top of a crossmember that is guaranteed to get oil all over it. Now your saying that your supposed to take the intake off to get at the starter.Good god man what were they thinking?, unless of course they were not thinking.
@CARtastrophe365
@CARtastrophe365 6 лет назад
I never minded working on them, but it is a terrible place for a starter, I'll agree with you there! I think they saw that Cadillac did it on the Northstar motor and they thought it would sell better in the U.S if we knew the starter was a pain in the ass to do.

Hey I have a question I replace mine today it took me pretty much half a day those bolts was so tight and so ok I put everything back and now I got a check engine code it’s Po177 like IMT VALVE STUCK ON HIGHT RMp?
@CARtastrophe365
@CARtastrophe365 4 года назад
Did you take the intake off? The IMT is a runner valve in the intake, there is a solenoid by the power steering pump that sends vacuum down a tube to an actuator on the intake. There is also a position sensor there. Make sure all this stuff is plugged back in properly.
@thexflexclan
@thexflexclan 4 года назад
CARtastrophe365 yeah I put back everything I think when I trying to put back the hose that was missing I was hearing a buzzing noise it was sucking air a lot so I turn off the car and remove the valve cause I couldn’t get the hose back it was the hose underneath the little valve so I remove the the valve and unplugged the sensor put it back and I got the code the car I feos normal well kinda weird I haven’t done the idle relearn thing
@CARtastrophe365

In the video you state the part can be ordered at Honda e-store for ~$400. What is the part number? I'm getting "31200-PPA-A04" at e-store which costs ~$1,000.
@CARtastrophe365
@CARtastrophe365 6 лет назад
Excellent question. The part number I bought was 31200-PPA-A04RM, the "RM" on the back means that it was a re-manufactured part. There is a HUGE price difference between new and reman. The other question I would have for you is what year your car is, starting around 08-ish they have had issues with starters setting erroneous P0339 codes and may have updated the design, that would make them more expensive too. But since it's the same part number as mine, minus the RM, I assume your'e dealing with an older vehicle still. Thanks for watching brother! Good luck!

CARtastrophe365 just to give you an update I got out from work start the car fine and went to the shop rite to buy some stuff and when I came back car won’t even start nothing even call my friends and we tried jump start wouldn’t do anything so we tied the car with some chains to get it right where I work so I check with voltage miter the battery so everything I. There seems normal new battery so even I check it again voltage was like 12.6 or 7 it’s was good so we tried a lot like to start the car nothing I hit the starter would’ve do anything first trie you kinda Hear the motor spin but the second tried nothing at the end just getting click and after that nothing so I willl try to replace tomorrow’ I will see if I can get it out from underneath I know it will hard but don’t have that lots of money to get a good one just wanna get it back to running 🏃

You can do it, remove the intake bracket and the knock sensor. Its tough but you can get the bolts out and pull the starter down while it is still connected to the harness. Then remove harness, put harness on the new unit, kinda hanging it up while you're connecting everything, sneak it back into place. Good luck!

Why would you want to remove the entire air intake system just for a starter ? Its literally 2 bolts and a knock sensor and bam the starter is out. 30 minutes.
@CARtastrophe365
@CARtastrophe365 3 года назад
I'm with you, if you plan on doing them often it's a good way to go. Knock sensor comes out, fish the starter out the bottom. That super long bolt is a pain though, and finagling the starter out from the bottom is tedious, not to mention fastening the motor cable to it when it is loose. If you plan on doing very few of these then taking the intake off is the easy way, takes a little longer (honestly only a couple minutes) but it's an easier learning curve.
