Here's a pic/video slide show of how this totaled Sportster went through some changes before becoming known as "Animal" and making the centerfold of Easyriders Magazine. Bought this year ago from a salvage company. Purchased some tins and painted them, bumped the 883 to a 1200. Found some cool 3 piece wheel took them apart and powder coated the rings satin black. Switched to a chain drive had a custom swing arm built for the 150 tire.
Some year later, with the help of some friends at Southern Cycle, we stripped the bike down. Installed a Cole Foster fuel tank which we built the bike around. We pushed the neck out to 38° and added a 4 1/2" hard tail. We up'ed the engine to 1250cc. Big 7" front head light, led tail light and actual BMX pedal for pegs, hence the Mongoose neck badge. We used PPG paint, micro flake, and Southern Polyurethane clear of the fish scale paint job. Built a custom seat pan out of fiberglass.
This bike is a rocket and was dubbed the name Animal. Sitting just 4" off of the ground she's low and fast with plenty of attitude. Not much leaning came be done so she's not really a mountain or long trip bike, that and she only holds about 3 gallons of fuel. She's a blast around town and bar hopping though.
