I think the fastest CPU in 2002 was the P4 2.8, so you had one of the best. Also, the 9700 Pro was the fastest from 2002, and yes, selling it was a mistake :)

Nice! I had an Athlon XP 2000+ (a 1800+ Oc'ed) in 2002. Also a Geforce 4200 Ti which had the same number of procesing units and RAM of the 4600 Ti, with only 50mhz less core clock and 100mhz less memory clock. With OC the 4200 Ti became a 4600 Ti for half the price.
@MidnightGeek99

Yes, you can overclock some Ti 4200 version pretty well, and get very close to the Ti 4600. I will try some oc, but only after I gather more Ti 4200s.

I went from the crappy 440MX straight to the 4200TI and did not regret it. It was a great buy and lasted me till Doom 3. The heatsink is not all copper though. The base is just copper colored aluminium. I know first hand because I Frankenstein modded an old Intel slot 1 cooler+fan onto it back in the day. One of the few beauties that I still own ;-)

Nice Athlon XP build! My first Windows XP build was based on an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ Thoroughbred back around 2006 as an upgrade to a GatewayCeleron 400A 98se refurb (98se support croaked around June 2006, according to Microsoft), using parts from the computer refurb place I worked for. It originally included: ECS purple K7VMM+ Micro-ATX motherboard (with a 12V CPU power connector) 512MB (2x256MB) DDR 266 Kingston ValueRAM CS2 memory 64MB DDR GeForce 4 MX 440 128-bit AGP graphics Sound Blaster Audigy LS PCI audio 2x30GB Maxtor 7200rpm PATA HDDs LG CD-ROM PATA optical drive 1.44MB 3.5" floppy disk drive Generic beige ATX case with PSU Standard AMD Socket A CPU cooler Shortly afterwards, I upgraded the system with the following: 1GB (2x512MB) DDR 266 Kingston ValueRAM CS2 memory 64MB DDR Gainward GeForce 3 Ti 200 128-bit AGP graphics (OCed to full GeForce 3 original speed) 2x80GB Samsung SpinPoint 7200rpm PATA HDDs Lite-On DVD Writer & DVD-ROM PATA optical drives JeanTech ATX case with built in Red LED display fan controller & fans JeanTech 600W fully modular PSU Recently got a 128MB DDR Gainward GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128-bit AGP card for an Athlon XP 2400+ build I was thinking of putting together for a friend. Then I found out he had an Athlon 64, which he said was still too slow, so now it's a spare part lying in wait for a possible additional 98se/2Kretro build in the future, to go with the above motherboard.

1:05 That Albatron is beautiful motherboard ! Overall very good system. 1:51 That sound amplification is insane, compared to my B450 Steel Legend i think it's like quarter of that I had athlon XP from 2004 till 2007-08, Barton Core 2600+. Asus a7n8x-e deluxe stable and good motherboard sata worked perfectly too. Changed couple of GPU, TnT2 pro, MX440 128 mb, ATI 9600 pro, and finally 7600 GS 512MB Tried to recreate that system but could not find good motherboard for fair price. I picked up cheep system for 30 euros 2 years ago And it contained TT Xaser Lan Fire , TT Power supply, TT Solid copper cooler. 2 GB DDR , Ati9600 pro 256 mb and Athlon 2400+ But motherboard was a dud it worked for a while but it died when i tried some OC i think it was based on via kt400 chipset a really mediocre motherboard. But for 30 euros i got lots of goodies.

My family computer we got in 2004 came with a Pentium 4 w/HT @3.04GHz 512GB ram (which i upgraded to 1gb) and the dreaded fx5200. I struggled through playing half life 2 and far cry on that awful card until I saved up money to buy the 6600GT which was a complete game changer! Just a couple years back I stumbled across 2 old early 2000's era PC's at a carboot sale (a sort of market in UK where anyone can turn up and set up a table to sell their old stuff. I had no idea if they worked but the guy only wanted £20 for both so I took them. When I got to my delight both worked and both were Athlon XP machines! One had the Athlon XP 2700+ and the other had the elusive 2800+, I was so chuffed and still have the 2800+ machine to this day, I added a GeForce mx440 129mb agp 8x version to it but I really really want a voodoo card. Problem is the price, there's no way in hell I'm paying £300 for a Voodoo 3 card!

A nice build, a card I'm hopefully picking up atm for cheap, current bid is 10 sek or about 92 cents in usd lol the shipping costs more then that at 64 sek or 5.87 usd. (Getting it more for the cooler mounted on it then the card itself but nice if the card works still too mess about with on my testrig for a bit a hd 5850 is quicker then my current top performing spare card anyway a hd 5770 or equivalent too the card in my dads pc atm the hd 6870 1 gb. Seller didn't know though if it does still, just when it was taken out of the computer years ago.) An accelero mono plus mounted on a HD 5850 extreme which is a sapphire card. Cooler will probably go on a 9800 gtx+ if the 5850 doesnt work as is or on one of my hd 5770's as a silent overkill cooler.

@@MidnightGeek99 Yeah it's a good deal id say up too 5 - 15 usd even for a sapphire hd 5850 extreme. Kind of overclockable versions of the cards. Which are very late models of the cards these i think at the time sold for like 100€ or something crazy low like that in April 2011 simply too move old stock as the HD 6000 series was out already & ofc by 2012 we had the HD 7000 series cards out. The cooler mounted on it that i want it for is a " arctic cooling mono plus " a 200w tdp cooler which up until it got discontinued was 36 - 40€ by itself.

This makes me regret getting rid of my Celeron D desktop...but having experienced an 1800+ and what's effectively a 2400+/2600+ I'm not sad. The computer throws out less heat than comparable PGA478 systems with far less noise (side panel was warped on my second desktop with 1x stripped screw hole - stock CPU cooler and the HDD made it vibrate really bad). Still find it funny that my Mum was able replace it with a laptop that was better in every way (except DirectX 9 game support) and the second fastest Pentium 4 at the time (don't think the 3.4GHz ever made it into "laptops").

I know I'm late in the game. Try setting up your system with Windows NT 4.0. I realize that not all the games shown will run on it. A Ti 4200 will deliver 10 - 20 % more performance than with Windows XP or even 98. It almost blew my mind and I could hardly believe the benchmarks.
@MidnightGeek99
@MidnightGeek99 5 месяцев назад
Never tried that, thanks for the tip! But why would the Windows NT 4.0 have better video graphics performance?
@christopheoberrauch784
@christopheoberrauch784 5 месяцев назад
The only thing that comes to mind is that NT 4.0 probably has significantly less overhead. Not every NT driver could access the AGP bus properly. I had to try a few versions. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly which version it was 43.45/44.67 or even 5x.xx? All other card vendors (3dfx/Matrox) I've tried don't show that much performance difference. The least impressed with the OS seems to be 3dfx. The results for Quake, Quake II, Quake III, Unreal and Unreal Tournament showed massive speed advantages with NT 4.0.

2002 Gaming PC?😅 this machine is impossible my friend! In 2002 there was no VIA KT600 on the market. This motherboard is definitely from 2003. And how do I know? because I bought an MSI KT400 Ultra in December 2002. It first came with AGP 8X. The FSB was 166MHz and had DDR 333 support like the previous KT333 chipset. After that, VIA KT400a was released in 2003 with DDR 400 support. And then came yours!. Albatron released the KX600S Pro in late November 2003 with FSB 200MHz support. So this board, which was used here for the video, was used the most in 2004!!!😉
