These trucks look great even today. I’m a die hard GM fan! I love my 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD Extended Cab LB7 Duramax Turbo Diesel. It’s got 370,000 kilometres and still runs great. It’s never left me down in the last seven years I’ve had it.
I have one the rear main seal and the transfer case I have to change but it has 275,000 miles on it and I’ll steal crank it up and go anywhere I want to with it I love my Chevy truck Silverado
WELL, I DON'T KNOW ABOUT ALL THIS BUT MY 2003 SILVERADO HAS HAD THE CLUSTER REPLACED TWICE IT KEPT KILLING MY BATTERY AND THAN 4 YEARS LATER IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN AND HAD TO REPLACE THE CLUSTER AGAIN EACH AT A COST OF OVER $800.00 NOW THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I TURN THE KEY AND IT STARTS IT IMMEDIATLY SHUTS OFF, SO I WILL HAVE TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TOW IT IN TO A MECHANIC, SO I AM NOT SO SURE ABOUT THE CHEVY MY 46 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TELLS ME TO GET RID OF IT HAS COST ME TO MUCH MONEY WITH ALL I HAVE DONE TO IT AND BEING THAT I AM AN 83 YEAR OLD WOMAN I JUST DON'T KNOW IF THIS LAST PROBLEM IS NOT TO COSTLY I MIGHT KEEP IT .
Well, with it now being a 20 year old truck, it's going to have issues. I have quite a few GMT800s, there are known long term issues, as with any vehicle. But given their age now, it's all been well documented and the repairs should be relatively easy to diagnose.
These are known to be very reliable … BUT THINGS GO WRONG ON CARS/TRUCKS. It’s when you compare these 1999 to early 2007 Trucks with EVERYTHING else out there….. I heard something once a few years ago that expect to pay 1500 a year for vehicle maint. That’s tires / repairs ect.( not insurance) . So I wouldn’t condemn a 15 to 20 year old vehicle over a big expense once in a while that is normally bullet proof … just my thoughts. We have owned quite a few chevy rear drive full sized trucks over the years . I worked on them personally .. my day job was an elevator mechanic 35 years.. we kept a o3 short reg cab for 13 years just under 400 k miles and a o3 suburban for 18 years … best of all vehicles we owned… when I retired I looked for another o3 ish ,,, payed big bucks for a survivor low mile v8 shorty.. this is my retirement gift to myself.
I have the arrival blue and victory red SS. My son has the black SS. All 3 production colors of that year. Can honestly say these are the best trucks ever owned. Fast for the age, reliable and most of the original parts are still going strong 21 years later. Plus the fact that they are rare also helps. 😆. If you can afford to buy one in good condition nowadays don't hesitate...you won't regret it.
