Supercharged Silverado SS... Just a short test run while logging my newly installed MP122 front inlet jackshaft driven Magnuson supercharger. See end of video for list of modifications.
Hey there, Very nice truck. I have a 2004 SS and the same color, Arrival Blue Metallic. Mine has about 178,000 miles, only 39,000 when I bought it 5 years ago. I was wondering why you took the supercharger off because I want to install one? Was there anything like engine damage to the original LQ9? I have heard that flat top pistons are what's needed for a supercharger but I don't know? I pull a couple of different heavy trailers and a little bit more power would be grand. 345HP stock to 450-500HP would be so nice.
Just bought an 01 Ext Cab White with 176k from Army Mechanic thats in the family for 2400$ has 5.3 liter in it and its my first truck and let me tell ya I was impressed how strong the LS motor is in the truck. Hoping to get it cammed and K&N intake and some straight pipes and headers and tuned and thatll be good for me I think...Sweet truck brother!
Sweet truck man I have the same exact one literally. Really like the supercharger I'm thinking about one for mine. Did you do your own tune after the supercharger or did you have one of the popular online people do the tune like Blackbear?
Did you ever run the truck on the track? If so what was your times? I have an 04 ss I'm wanting to boost but I'm so indecisive on how I want to go about it. Trying to be on a budget lol
I did run the truck on the track 1/4 mile with this Supercharger. It heat soaked and it didn't run good times. I would recommend doing a LSA supercharger or a newer Magnacharger TVS 2300 / Edelbrock system
you installed the supercharger when the engine had 170,000 miles? have you had any problems with? how bout the transmission? is it still holding up? i wanna boost mine too but have as much miles as yours did.
Yes the supercharger was installed at 170k but I have since removed it to transfer to a car project. The trans had no issues, I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
I was under the impression when you install a supercharger or a turbo the gas mileage will get better under normal driving conditions. If the purpose was to increase power and still drive normal, a supercharger should enhance your gas mileage. But if you drive it hard then the gas mileage will surely decrease. is this correct?
+Kudro Rico Your impression is correct, most of the time under normal driving conditions the gas mileage stays roughly the same, on mine it decreased slightly, some see improvements, depends on the tune and the setup, and driving style.
+Kudro Rico Contact Superchargers Online, they are a reseller for Magnacharger. They should be able to get you one for your Suburban. Another option is to check ebay and see if you can find a used MP112 or TVS 1900.
+The96jaime My SS gets right about 16-17 on the highway in stock form before the supercharger. After the supercharger mileage went down as expected, I would guesstimate it got around 14-15 mpg with the supercharger. I never checked it on my SS before I removed the S/C.
Yes it did by a couple MPG. Used to get around 13 in the summer now only gets about 11 (city). Winter is even worse, my tune is not setup perfectly though so I feel that it could be a lot better.
