Nice job on the video and commentary! All I would add is to check around the pan gasket for any possible leaks after the new fluid is added. I know, it's common sense to do that but some newbie diy's wouldn't think to check. Again, good job on the video‼️

I just discovered your channel and watched this video. I enjoyed watching this and learned from it. You have a nice presentation style, not all hyper and loud like some. It used to be so nice to be able to work on vehicles when they were simple like this old beauty. I gave you my thumbs up....

Hey again, and again, a great video and watch what I did, I found a 3/8 inch plastic tube that was cut to about 20 inches and I angled the pan, stuck the tube in the p;an, gave it a light suck, and bingo, the fluid flowed for quiet a while, making the pan less heavy for me.😊

And finally, after warming up the engine and driving a tad, my level on the dip stick was at the very top of the grid, in fact, it was like 1/16th inches higher, and two very experienced car mechanics, who i trust like god, told me it will be just fine, ok cool, and I wonder what you think about that, and so, thanks for the great video, you saved me anguish from deceiving mechanics and rip off prices!!!❤

If it’s just a hair over you should be fine. Just double check it after driving it for awhile to make sure the fluid has reached peak temperature and hasn’t climbed any further up the dipstick.

Thanks! Doing it tomorrow. 10MM socket, Torque Wrench set to 120"# or 10'#, most people comment that they used 4 - 4.5 Qts of fluid

Just dropped the pan and filter on mine today and ran into the same thing when refilling the fluid. I got exactly 4 quarts out of the transmission when dropping the pan but ended up needing to put 4.5 quarts back in. Kind of weird but I'm guessing what ever was absorbed in the old filter made up for the difference in the extra fluid needed.

Where do you put the transmission fluid in at.

@@brendajoycewhite5747 you pour the fluid through the transmission dip stick tube, located in the engine bay.

Thanks for the video, fixing to do this job myself, bought a pan with a drain plug on Amazon to make it easier in the future! Subbed!!

I weld in steel drain plug bungs when I drain any of my trans which is well worth it, and those without welders can either have it done by a bro or buy a pan with a drain. It makes life MUCH easier.

Fun and mine put a quarter of oil accidentally in my transmission. For me, my truck, my Ford set there. For create a year's without being used. Because it was a will, and my friend just gave me his truck and was checking all the fluids. And there was nothing in the transmission fluid in the truck. Although the truck is driving forward and in reverse until my friend quit. Oil engine oil in the transmission. Now it only drives maybe 3 or 4 blocks forward and drives miles backwards. What do you think the problem is? What should I do?

I have a 2000 ford expedition 4.6L V8 Triton XLT and just wanted to know if using the ford Motorcraft Transmission fluid and power steering fluid is okay. I didn't know Transmission fluid and power steering fluid was interchangeable like that since I am used to buying it separate.
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Год назад
I have never seen any complications when mixing them in the power steering besides turning the reservoir black due to the two fluids mixing. I know some of the express oil change places do it all the time not knowing a lot of vehicles take atf for power steering fluid.

Ford Mercon V was the official replacement power steering fluid for models after 1998 and I found out the hard way after I accidentally put 2 quarts of Mercon LV into my 2003 F150 and did a deep dive of research into this SCREW UP!

Wouldn’t be better if spray break cleaner straight to the transmission for a better cleaning.? You ll still have dirty old oil mixing with the new clean oil. Also how often you service a transmission.? I always tough you dnt replace the transmission fluid.!
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE
@BLUECOLLARGARAGE Год назад
I wouldn’t recommend spraying brake cleaner on the transmission valve body itself. Yes you do have old fluid mixing in with new fluid but if you do this method every 30k miles or so it keeps the transmission in tip too shape. Most manufacturers don’t recommend doing a flush with all new fluid the way I did it is the preferred method. I’ve done this since the truck has had 100k miles and it now has almost 300k miles and the transmission is still going strong.

My 2003 never came with a drain plug for the TC I’ve looked before. I know a lot of the earlier models have a drain plug not sure if ford started going away from them or only on certain models.

It is great how the engineers in charge to design these vehicles makes things too difficult to reach, hard to access to those hidden screws either on the transmission or the motor, at least those parts for the regular maintenance should be easy to reach like oil filters, coolant, spark plug, etc, hope now the millennials do better work on new vehicles
