In this video i go over all of the body armor that i currently have on my 2003 Montero. I made all of this armor myself and it has held up very well for me over the years of bumping into rocks.

Love the mods. Lots of great ideas. 1 question not armor related. How did you mount the traction bars to your spare tire ?
@montanamontero
@montanamontero 2 года назад
i just use a ratchet strap actually, it's simple and effective

Awesome rock sliders!!! I have factory rock sliders fitted to my Gen3, but doubt they anywhere near as strong as yours. Do you perhaps have the specs of the bars n tunes you used? I'd live to try my hand at fashioning them at home.
@montanamontero
@montanamontero 2 года назад
thanks! it's been a while, but i believe i used 1/4" angle for the mounting brackets, and 2" tubing with .120 wall. the kick outs are a similar spec.

Love the rock sliders, looking to do the same to my 01. Did you weld the brackets from the square bar to the factory side steps or bolt them in? Couldn't see them too well in the video.
@montanamontero
@montanamontero 2 года назад
they are bolt on, so i can easily remove them if i need to.

My last project of the year n my gen 3 is rocksliders. I live your idea. How does the sliders are held? Are they welded to factory holes and the on the bottom at your square pipe ?
@montanamontero
@montanamontero Год назад
They are bolted, through the 1/4” angle iron to the factory mounts, but the weight of the car sits on the pinch weld so they are very strong

Did you use any brackets to mount the skid plates? Or do the skids just mount up to existing points without the need for brackets?
@montanamontero
@montanamontero 2 года назад
they mount to existing brackets, except the rear trans one. for that i drilled holes in the trans cross member and ran bolts through it
@MFRiley
@MFRiley 2 года назад
@@montanamontero Nice. Super easy. Seems like DIY skids for the oil pan and trans are they way to go.
