Been having issues with the knock sensor after 120k miles. Have open the engine twice and replaced it twice, it works for a weeks and then it goes bad again. Maybe the engine does have a small knock in it, but is hardly noticeable when driving. So this time I am trying the external option and see if I can get rid off the check engine light. After installing I took for a 200 mile off roads trip and the check engine did not come on. So hopefully this works.
