I love the retro plastics. Love the modern look.

Well thanks a lot for the comment and I find the kits add a lot to the older bikes. Unless you want that original look. Honda made thousands of bikes every year…. So there are thousands of bikes that look stock. I think the modern plastic can really change it up.

To be honest the chrome white red and black looks really good. Really turned out hella tight. Diggen the bar setup. I'd love to have that bike. Good job! Keep the videos coming

It's not the seat, it's the whole restyle kit ! Stay with stock plastics ! Stock looks better . Most of the pros that have the last generation CR 250's for play 2 strokes, use the stock plastics, including me. I get compliments on mine every time l am out riding. 😊
@Dirtbikerepair

I agree the stock plastics do have a really nice nostalgic look to them. I have so many bikes that are stock its nice to try something different. Thanks a lot for the comment and for watching... but that seat diffidently had more then a few problems

Im impartial to the restyle kits! I mainly use them on bikes im flipping and i have a couple in the corral with them but tou just cant beat the 90s/early 2000s look lol. Those retro graphics are awesome actually

I have never actually tried DeCal works. I think I might give them a try on my next bike actually.

What brand of throttles do you use? And do they work with stock throttle cables? 1991 HONDA CR250 restoration, don't have stock throttle...bought a Fire Power i think, kinda cheap junk.....running out of adjustment at throttle and top of carb...new stock cable... probably should have gotten Motion pro...let me know what you think 😊 Flodaddy
@Dirtbikerepair
@Dirtbikerepair 7 месяцев назад
I have used mostly stock OEM ones with my builds, but I have used a few different ones. The motion pro ones are pretty good I have never had a problem with them.

I usually avoid crapisport for plastics, except their radiator guards. They have been fine but the plastic just seems flimsy compared to ufo, cycra or acerbis.
@Dirtbikerepair
@Dirtbikerepair 10 месяцев назад
i haven't really had bad luck with the plastic kits or the radiator guards, but it seems like the other products... like the chain guard.. (didn't fit at all) or the Seat.. (we seen how that worked out) but i do really like UFO plastic that's what i run on all my stock style bikes to give them a fresh plastic look

I don't know why you waste time with the cardboard bolt holder. When you go to put case, clutch cover, water pump, etc bolts in you just slide them in until you find their home which is usually about 3/4 inch of bolt sticking out (unthreaded), just switch the bolts around till they all stick out the same distance. takes 5 seconds. There are some cases where you want to keep bolts in order but what you are doing is not one of them. Also, I wouldn't grease the outside of seals which you always do, unless you like your seals popping out. these seals are designed to go in dry. If anything just use a little windex. Lube the inside of the seal. Decent videos but my 2cents.
@Dirtbikerepair
@Dirtbikerepair 8 месяцев назад
I will keep that in mind when i do my next case, I have never heard the 3/4 inch method. I just like to keep track of the bolts so that I know exactly where they go. But if it is easier i will give it a try for sure. I have never had a seal pop out personally but i do fully see how it could happen. do you just not grease seal's at all then ? I guess I'm not 100 percent on the contents of that video i will watch it and take a look. Thanks a lot for the comment and for watching the video.

@@Dirtbikerepair These things I've learned thru 50 years of working on this stuff. The things I mentioned were from experience. I have had seals pop out long ago when I figured it would be nice to give the outer surface a nice lube to help them slide in but that's not good, they go in dry or at most a little soap water. Some seals even require a locking compound. For the case bolts I just learned that from doing. I do bag all the bolts as to where they go but in terms of placement, you just slide them in and you will see the uniform stick out. 3/4 inch was just an approximation, everything is different as you know but just make sure they are all sticking out the same amount and you have them in the right hole. Thanks for taking the time to make videos and keep up the good work!

@@Dirtbikerepair Btw - I finished a full crank up restoration of a milk crate 1985 CR250 about a year ago, it's in near showroom condition. Every bolt, nut, seal. Crank rebuild, isotropic finish on all the gear box components (shifts like butter), everything OEM that wasn't obsolete or discontinued. Powder coat I learned to do myself, urethane paint, etc, etc. Probably worth about 6k. Oh, Race Tech suspension front and rear. It's the same bike I raced pro back in 1985-86. Nostalgia I guess, Ha. I wouldn't do another one. To much of a pain dealing with all the obsolescence.
@Dirtbikerepair
@Dirtbikerepair 8 месяцев назад
I totally get dealing with all the parts that are just non existent. frustrating and a pain in the ass.. but when you actually get a bike like that done nothing is better then knowing what you have... I have a hard time selling bikes like that... but it makes me need a bigger shop.. lol Thanks again for all the info and for the comments Hope you get a chance to see our other videos and we can keep you watching :) @@darrynruzicka2883

@@Dirtbikerepair Yeah, At least you are working on somewhat newer bikes where most oem stuff is still available. But yeah, I don't have plans to sell it, it sits in my dining room, lol. I've had it out only once for a jetting test and tune. Actually going out tomorrow. The day I lay that thing over is going to suck! Hopefully that won't be tomorrow. Take care man.

I like the retro graphics, but can't stand restyle plastic kits. All the modern bikes start to look the same.
@Dirtbikerepair
@Dirtbikerepair 10 месяцев назад
Im impartial to the kits... I like some and some i don't, I use the Kits on a bunch of bikes to give it that modern look for resale on bikes to give them a fresh modern look, but my 2001 CR250 is obviously still stock plastic style and so is my 96. thanks for the comment and for reaching out

You praised the Polisport seat then immediately retract it. It’s Polisport. If you want precise fitment you buy OEM. Can’t be upset, it’s your stupid fault for cheaping out
@Dirtbikerepair
@Dirtbikerepair 10 месяцев назад
Well I thought it was obviously a really great deal, and haven’t seen them on other builds. Obviously there is a reason we can all see from the video the fit was not really good. After recovering it it looked pretty good. If you can find a new seat for a 2004 cr250.. or a new oem seat for any of the old bikes let me know where. They are not still in production from Honda. But maybe I’m not looking in the right spot.. OEM is obviously a great choice when it’s available. Thanks for the comment and serious if you know where to get OEM seats for older bikes that are new let me know

The seat looked good then the bend was wrong. Not his fault, u never bought something that was wrong. What a dick comment, quit being such a troll.
