Mostly the frame…. The 1997-1999 use a very similar frame.. it might be the “worst” frame.. but motor is pretty much the same. Also I personally don’t like the single rad on the 1997-1999 bikes
@pabloantonioalipazmercado4353 there is probably like 1” of clearance inside. So you have lots of room. You only need a rivet to go past both metal pieces.. so the rivet could be as short as you need. I would use 3/8” or something shorter then 1”. You will be fine.
Air filters? I just pour a little gas on em or dip a piece in the parts washer and wring it in in to break down the oil then hit em with hot water then soap them let em dry. I've used spray oil and liquid but I usually go with the spray as the liquid oil is a pain in the ass.
I have only used the spray oil once. I had a problem with the can and I feel like I only got half the fan out of it.. it stoped spraying…. So I just stick to the old school way of using filter oil in liquid form. Thanks for the comment.
for the quantity the cleaner comes in its pretty expensive. Do update us how many times you can reuse the chemical! waiting for the new series! the 1993 cr250 series was fire! Just finished mine 1993 cr500, your videos were super helpful. Thanks!
Thanks a lot for watching the 1993 video series, I’m glad it was able to help you with your build. I will post an update on the wr cleaner and try to film when I use it so it can be used in the update video. I’m curious to see if it’s worth the cost
Wait, what? Two hot chick asses on the thumb? Ok, i'm not going to go off on clickbait bullshit because I like you but.... What's up dude, where are the canadian hotties?
The maxima spray aerosol filter cleaner and oil works really well also! Spray on, let soak for a minute, kneed it in, and wash it out. I get like 10 cleanings out of a can and they are reasonable price.
Man I got 2 96 cr250s with enough parts to build 3 minus the 3rd frame.. iv been collecting parts for years .. and my frame rails are mint, such iconic bikes hopefully someday I get to maken atleast one of mine look as nice as yours… btw bloopers were great .. still have a wall in the garage from when I started up a bike w bad cranks seals and well painted the wall lol
I hope some day you get to build a great bike too! You can’t beat the old school feel of a steel frame CR. Thanks a lot for following the build and for the comment.
Thanks a lot for the compliments and for following along. We have some pretty big things planed for the channel and hope you will like what’s coming up :)
This was awesome! Among the best build series videos I’ve seen on RU-vid. The shock explosion was epic. Your build came out perfect, very tasteful. I think you should find another old dirt bike to restore I would watch every episode!
Thanks a lot for the support! And for the encouragement. It’s good to know people enjoy what I’m trying to show. Be entertaining and at the same time informative. We have a bunch of bike reviews coming up and a lot of exciting things planed till we find the next build project :)
Thank you. It’s more satisfying knowing that people are enjoying watching the videos and the build series, knowing you guys are just as excited about the projects as we are. Thanks again for watching and following along
Thanks for the encouragement and the support. This bike was far from an easy build.. I think we did the bike justice bringing it back to life. I’m glad you enjoyed the series. Hopefully you will keep watching all the stuff we have planed in the upcoming weeks. Till we start the next build ;)
Stay tuned…. We have a bunch of really cool stuff planed for the channel, along with some new builds and DIY stuff in the upcoming videos. Thanks again for watching and for the support
Thanks a lot for the Comment and for Following the channel. its always really good to hear Im not the only one that thinks my videos are alright and entertaining
My slide was cracked similar on my 04 tmx04 Mikuni, having trouble getting the float height set now and possibly slow jet showed 32.5 on Rocky mtn but your manual is showing 40 I had a 40 in it when I got it but put the 32.5 in. Bike will crank and idle fine but when in gear and over 1/2 throttle bike will start to bog and foul out. Going to try to adjust my float and drop needle clip down to 2nd position today to see if that helps? Any ideas? Also any advice setting the fuel adjustment screw I didn’t catch it in the video? Thanks and awesome videos!
Are you leaking out of your overflow when the float is not set? I think you are probably running out of fuel with a 32.5, obviously I am being a text mechanic here. I haven’t seen the bike run so it’s hard to fully understand. I would set the bike back up to stock setting, you need that float set properly then you can deal with jetting and clip positions. Check the air screw make sure it’s set back to stock. I can’t remember if it’s 2 turns or what it would be. Your float is probably the biggest problem tho
Love that you did individual stickers on the rear fender, I still love doing that on my bikes instead of getting the fender kits that have come out now. Thanks for the awesome videos.
I’m really happy people are enjoying the build series, and like following along. This project was a pile of work and I think everyone can see what the finished result and effort turn into. Thanks a lot for watching and for the comment.
That’s one beautiful Cr500 AF. They have power wherever you need it, it’s definitely a chore to ride all day. I’m very curious to see how much less vibration the BRC Counter Balanced engines will have. Especially a built Cr500 like your MRE. Great video👍, keep them coming 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the good explanation on the foot pegs. Actually the CR 250 from 1994 and 1995 don't have that little hole in the frame but do have the big hole where the spring can lock in, got mine now in also
I didn’t know that the 94, and 95 were that much different. Thanks for the info. I guess the foot peg mount is something you don’t really look at on different years.
I have them, the big problem with project 93 is that at some point in its life someone installed and drilled holes into the air box.. and I could not come up with a way to fix the existing holes…. Air boxes are really hard to find. If anyone knows where to buy a replacement please let me know. Thanks a lot for the comment and for watching the build progress
Thanks a lot for following the build, Project 93 has been more then a little work, but it has definitely transformed over the time we have been working on it. I agree it’s probably not Canada’s Worst bike anymore.
@@Dirtbikerepair just finished a 91 kdx250 build and the owner picked it up today, always a fun time breakin these old 2 strokes in. Keep the great videos coming man🤙🏻
The motor sounds tight! Run it through a few heat cycles, then go out and ride it like you stole it to seat the rings. Do you ever go to the track? have you ever raced? Do you race now (vet)? Regardless, the video needs to be caped with a ride video.
We have a few riding videos coming up on the channel. And one featuring Project 93. Thanks for the comment and for following this build along. I don’t race anymore. Did at one point. Still love to ride and am hoping to show more of that on this channel in the upcoming videos
Love the clean retro look. Kept it to par with what it looked like 30 years ago. Don't think any other graphics would make it look as good. The seat pops! Nice work! Keep the videos coming
@Dirtbikerepair I had a 96, my brother had a 94 and I thought his was just a bit faster and handled corners just a bit better. Both were stock with the same Bill's pipe.
@Dirtbikerepair Oh for sure. I have since switched to YZ250 and my bro has a 2000 CR. It's stock so it's a bit rigid like the 99, the '01 was a bit more... forgiving. 😆
Still waiting on a few parts to finally come in for Project 93, then we will do a start up video so we can all see it run for the first time together. We will definitely be putting out a video of all the things we went through in this build along with a bunch of footage of the bike hopefully ripping up the trails and track.
40:1 Yamalube synthetic has always treated me right for stock compression motors. Unfortunately here in Arizona we only have 91 pump available so anything with even slightly higher than stock compression I shoot up to a small airport a couple miles from me and mix 100LL Avgas and half pump to bump octane to about 96 and it's affordable. Av right now is about $6 a gal.
I have mixed Avgas with high test here before.. best fuel we can get at a pump here in Ontario Canada is 94. And Avgas is running around $3.00/L (about 5L/G) so it’s definitely more affordable then running race fuel at $10/L Yammalube is really good oil.. I think the important part is running the best fuel oil mix you can afford. Thanks for the comment and for watching as always
I have never actually tried that.. but I will have to give it a try. Thanks a lot for the comment and for watching. Hopefully you like the rest of the project 93 series
@@Dirtbikerepair yes i like it and I'm quite new to your channel and i like the way you're working and the quality of the videos, thanks. I've spray my ceiling with fork oil once 😄now i know. best regards
That would depend on what you are mixing at for example 5 gallon but for easy math I’m going to use 20L mixed at 40:1 = 20L of fuel 500ml of oil 32:1 = 16L of fuel 500ml of oil That’s really what you can mix in a 5g fuel can
