In 2015, I bought a 1996 Mercury Gran Marquis with 40,000 miles. I now have 85,000 miles still with no problems and still get compliments on my car. A new antique.
I certainly appreciate your honesty when reviewing cars. I had an '03 with the same color/paint issues, but a very dependable, strong vehicle. I still own another '03 ultimate (Arizona Beige Metallic) with 150K+ mile on it that still runs, drives, and looks like new. (Always garaged, no salt exposure.) I believe the chrome wheels weren't available on the Grand Marquis until '06. I think the only thing missing option on this '04 is the heated seats. This car is a GREAT deal for anyone looking for a long distance driver who will log a ton of miles on it. With proper maintenance, you will see many of these cars with 300 500K!
With regards to the Lincoln hood ornament, when I was working at the Lincoln/Mercury dealership, a lot of people wanted the hood ornament, saying it’s a “Lincoln Mercury Grand Marquis”! So you have the Lincoln ornament, then the Mercury one on the grille! Hence, “Lincoln Mercury”! And the rubber weatherstrip at the right front door that’s torn, was where people would grab that area to get out of the car.
HA! Stick with the Panther Platform for now. Of course! The owner might have been like my grand paw. Had a tight garage and when he parked his Lincoln, he squeezed it in bumps bruises and all. The car had only 15,000 miles and looked like it had been road hard and put away wet. Yet, you could get in it and drive across country at any given time of his ownership. Even had regularly been maintained for well over 15 years by months not mileage until the family ended up with it. Nice car by the way and I would not be afraid to drive your car across country as well.
Monday, I bought a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis Ultimate for $6,475. A local car. Ist owner kept it in his garage for 14 years. 2 other owners. . 44,864 miles, good tires & battery. Leather interior is perfect. I'm disappointed that the car received a cheapo 1 step repaint recently. 😢 My opinion is that I paid a fair price for the car. It runs good but radio/CD/cassette has a buzz & it wouldn't turn on today. Don't know what that's about yet. Needs new headlights. The Landau roof is in good shape & the Carriage lights, yes, Carriage Electro-luminance lights glow beautifully!😂 BTW, that determined fly irritating the salesman could be a sign of an imp sent by Satan. He would be wise to do some reflection and possibly improve his spiritual health. Let's Roll ! Wolf
They really are the pinnacle of quality, affordable cars. I hate the modern, electronics-filled crap of today. None of these modern cars will survive 500,000 miles like some of my old vehicles have. My grandfather's Crown Vic was running strong at 300k.
Most likely the previous owner had multiple cars to drive and may have been a snowbird, which explains the low miles. Even with the minor paint/trim issues, a great car for sure! I really would love to add it to my small fleet, but my financial guy says "No itsnotme07, you still aren't there yet"....so no dropping $11k on a cool "secondary" daily driver, when my commute is 25 feet. haha. Someone is getting a very nice Grand Marc soon!
Your Honesty is so admirable as usual Anthony....this is a great Daily Driver for someone and will be wicked Reliable and does not look that bad. It actually looks good. Hi Papa, hope you doing okay....?
I would buy a car from Anthony in a heartbeat. I trust him and his father😅 papa bear I wouldn't even bring a mechanic Anthony is more than honest selling his cars happy birthday Papa Bear
Yeah he's talking about imperfections and all that but all I'm seeing is an absolute glorious oddball, I love this car because it's odd. There's no way in hell I'll be able to get it, with shipping it'll cost more than my Town Car but I'm absolutely showing this to my wife! 😍😍😍
OMG! I see I wasn't crazy after all! I had an 08 Mercury Grand Marquis LS and I put a lincoln hood ornament on mine too! Made it cruise much better!! I also put the ultimate badges on the front fenders (found on a wrecked one at pick and pull!) No one knew the difference! I now have an 06 Lincoln Signature Limited which I love but I will have to say that the Grand Marquis seats front and back fit me much better as the bottoms are wider and way more confortible on a long trip for sure!!
Wheels. In the 2004 product brochure, the GS came with "chrome" plastic wheel covers. The LS of all versions (premium, limited, ultimate etc) came with the wheels you see on this car. There was a split-spoke aluminum wheel that only came as an option with the handling package. So outside of the heated seat option, this car likely did not come optioned with the handling package wheels; perhaps the owner didn't care about the look of the wheels to pay the extra cost.
Really enjoyed this video. I have an ‘04 MGM GS Convenience Two-Tone Package, Spruce Green over Gold Ash, Parchment leather. Zero rust as it has never left Texas. Mine does have the (Very Rare) Mercury hood ornament as part of the package. I am supremely happy with mine. It will be pried from my cold hands when I pass. Lol! If, for some reason I needed a replacement, I would seriously consider this LS, paint flaws and all.
I'm a big fan of this site and the cars you love. I grew up around around Broughams, Town Cars, and Eldorados. However, I love them all if they are RWD luxocruisers. Anyway, I've owned several Panthers, including my current, a 07 GM GS with about 100 K. I've owned it since 2018 when I purchased it locally as a one owner with 45 K. Since then, I've had it re-sprayed in several spots due to paint peel and some minor rust repair. I've replaced tires twice, battery, alternator, starter, fuel pump and gas tank, brakes, wheel bearings, intake gasket among other maintenance items. I saw a 06 GS recently with 35 K (carfax) and a black landau roof, gold lettering, chrome fender inserts, and leather seats. It was really sharp and was tempted to look at it. However, I realized the great likelihood of replacing many of these parts and who knows what else in the near future as it would be a daily driver so I passed. I know that 35 K on a nearly 20 year old can take a toll on it if it doesn't get driven enough. I don't want to restore a museum showpiece. Sorry for the long reply. Take care, Joe from Ohio.
Nice ride. My former coworker took us to lunch in his Grand Marquis. I was so surprised that the vehicle was so comfortable. For the price range I can't think of another car that has comfortable seats/suspension.
I am so grateful for your honesty and so excited for a new to me kind of daily driver i want that is going to be easy on my body, drives more smoothly..be all tuned and fixed and whatever I get be good enough and little things known and 20 and under...I am so excited and grateful this can be done. I have had my car 23 years and only 3 in my life at 64 now and oddly the longest one purchased used Sept/Nov of 98...they did not disclose about an accident and said certain hings were hail only issues but sold a good warranty and boy did i have it all fixed except for an odd paint place and it is that old camel gold color lol, similar..it needs a major tune again and may do it just to have a spare or pass on nicely for that cost and just a few hundred for a HS car to someone..I am not far from my call..so excited,,here is another option that would be fine..one could decide to repaint it or not..but a very nice daily driver that looks nice and you will not die over the winter gravel where I am..Bless you for doing this work and providing a new and wonderful way to get something safe and wonderful and easy riding without hassle and breaking the bank..my time is getting closer...love your education too..thank you.
This is almost 20yrs young. I know your saying but that is old, but it has on gone 10k miles. It just starting to roll its wheels and barely had its motor running LIKE NEW. Says Papa 🐻
Damn this is a nice example! I bought a 2000 Grand Marquis "Presidential Edition" in 2018 and the car had 21000miles on it then. now it has 42000miles.
Hey Anthony. Euroasian Bob here. I just got in a mint 2002 Mercury GM LS with 34k from the original owner. Your wheelhouse is Domestic, mine is Foreign. If you get in something mint foreign, we could do a swap collaboration video. Lol.
If I had bought this car new with defective paint and it was re-painted under warranty to this quality I would have been one unhappy customer! The first brand new car I bought was a 2011 Buick Lucerne in White Diamond and while it didn’t require a complete re-paint there was a few spots in the paint that had dirt and the dealer repainted those areas. They couldn’t match the paint being a tri-coat. Needless to say being my first new car purchase I was very disappointed and traded the car 10 months later for the Enclave that I really wanted from the beginning but didn’t want to pay the extra money for.
🇺🇸 *Beautiful Grand Marquis LS Ultimate* !! *GREAT low mileage car* !! *LOVE this Mercury* !! *FAB job Papa Bear and Anthony* !! #SpecialtyMotorCars 🇺🇸
A nice car. I had an 04 LS with the Ultimate Package with a black exterior with dark gray leather seats. I remember that mine had heated seats. At the time I purchased my car, dealerships were advertising them and Town Car's at ten grand off the sticker price. The Town Car's were still too much for me to afford, so I went with the Grand Marquis. I added the chrome rocker panels and wheel lip mouldings as well the power moon roof. It was still a bargain.
Its a good deal I paid 11500 for a 04 with 21000 miles. The only problem I had was the radios I put a another one in it lasted a week. Was it just bad luck?
I rented one of these back in the day, and Loved It! I had zero expectations as it was not my first choice, and it looked like a cop car, but the ride and power and stability was awesome. Visibility was good too, seemed to sit up taller above average. Too bad it is so unappealing. All that pimped out swag doesn't help. Lincoln ornament is off the chain. hahaha
Own a 2005 mrc marq ultimate its a beauty fully loaded 78th at purchase paid 8500 cash use only in summer not my first1 cant beat rear wheel drive sleds iam a car guy no kid 67 years old it also has moon roof headed seats leather no rust its a longevity machine 20 plus mpg give it a 10 rating i hade many caddys and Lincoln and buick electras luv the merc marg
20:04 black label.. It does have side air bags, it is odd that they would order side air bags and not heated seats.....Most all the ones I see with side air bags in 2003 and 04 have heated seats....it's like the person would literally check every box and order everything when they "went Ultimate"....
I am looking for a car that I had. Can you help me? Can't find it nowhere . It is a 1987 oldsmobile regency 98. V6.3.8. It was silver in color with leather interior and wood grain dashboard. Also, it was a 2 door . With a black leather like top.Would love to find my old car from my past. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Eh, it’s 20 year old leather, the owner could have been a big guy, it may have never seen any conditioner in its life. A lot of potential reasons it would wear like that.
@@specialtymotorcars You bought it, you can do anything you want to do with it. Your comment doesn't make any sense. I never spoke of tires or age. I can tell you this however, you aren't going to wear out anything in the front suspension in 10000 miles. Try 80000 miles, or more. The same with brake lines and calipers.( Unless it's been immersed in salt ). That's why several people, which are probably old veteran mechanics as I am, have commented the same way. Something doesn't add up here, and in your video you are a bit suspicious of this particular cars history as well. I am not accusing nor implying that you are doing anything wrong, nor passing any judgement.
Sorry, you had to replace to many things on this car. My 2004 Ulimate never had any paint issues nor did my 2001 LS and my 1998 Marquis. 10,500 miles not believed. Never heard of the paint issues you say on the Grand Marquis.
What the hell is an 'ORIGINAL' mile?? A mile used to be 5,280 feet. Someone asked me if the mileage was original, I told him NO, I borrowed them from my cousins pickup. Hard to believe it only has 10,000 miles. But I don't drive a ton of miles either, so......
Best 225/60/16 in the white wall. I’ve tried them all. Continental, and Travel Stars as well. These stay bright white and balance out beautiful every time. And is cheaper than those other two.
Does anybody know how to find a realistic value of an old car. I have my mothers 1988 Cutlass Classic Brougham with 67K miles on it. She bought it brand new and is all original. A few more light scuffs that the Mercury here. Never been smoked it. Always garage kept. Everything works except the A/C. R12 is too expensive. 307 V8 of course.
I just cannot believe that this was an authorized Ford repaint. Maybe the original owner already had it repainted and got reimbursed from Ford. I just doubt that Ford would have done only a fair repaint.
Not bad, looks ok condition. But I'm doubting the 10k miles for 19yr old car, cars of this era with analog gauges can be tampered with, to make it look like its done less
Beautiful car dude. If my disability would hurry up and get approved my mother and I would be coming to see you. That car would be coming down to Georgia.
If it only has 10,000 miles on it, then it shouldn't need brakes, etc, put on. They had issues with the paint bc I have a 2005 and 2003 Grand Marquis GS. I think it has a lot more miles than 10,000 if you needed to put new tires and brakes etc on it. That is practically new car. I have a 2003 with only 112,600 on it.
Just imagine taking a brand new car and letting it sit outside in the same spot for 20 years. Think it won’t need any work? The tires were original 20 year old tires, they were dry rotted. Shouldn’t be hard to understand
