$3800 no rust, no mechanical issues, no electrical issues, 145k miles. I love this car. Wish I could have found it earlier and not wasted money on car payments.

Now is definitely NOT the time to be buying a car. Average car cost $47K?! That's insane! Check your ego at the door - you need a vehicle to get back and forth to work, not to impress anyone. An auto finance rate of 7%+ is an insult to anyone with excellent credit. No thanks. Those new cars can sit on the lot and rot away for all I care.

I had an '05 Town Car for eight years and had 208K miles when I traded it in. I loved that car. It never gave me a problem, safe and averaged about 23 MPG. It's a crime they didn't make them anymore, one of the best cars ever made. Thanks for highlighting these wonderful cars.

Best car I ever owned. I had an '04. Beautiful with no rust. Bought it from an elderly couple in Fargo North Dakota. Reliable, bulletproof, smooth and comfy ride, not great mpg but it's a give/take situation with cars in my opinion. Made a round trip Minnesota to Colorado and a round trip Minnesota to NYC. I'm a big guy at 6'4 and 250 lb, and let me tell you this is the only car where I never felt sore and in pain after a 10 hour day of driving. I chauffeured around friends and family. And it served as a conversation piece with countless elderly gentlemen and veterans. They would constantly compliment my ride and tell me how nice it was to see a young dude appreciate that car lol. Just a hell of an auto. If it weren't for a deer jumping out in front of my girlfriend on an icy country road, there's no doubt in my mind I'd be driving that Lincoln right now. Just picked up a beautiful navy blue '95 for $2,000 this past weekend. I look forward to the memories we'll make together.

I have 2008 Signature L Silver with black interior with 130 K Miles . I bought it from first owner 4 years ago . I just love to drive it . I paid only 3 000 $ and ship it to Poland where I live . Car is still in immaculate shape , zero leaks, zero rust and zero scratch. Best driving car ever . They gonna go up in price soon .

I work in social services and when clients who are low income ask me what I would recommend they buy after finding out that I’m also into cars, I recommend 2 platforms, this Ford panther platform, and GMs with the 3800 V6. Both are inexpensive to buy, reliable, and affordable to maintain. Toyota and Honda? Top tier for reliability and the price point of used ones reflects that putting it out of reach for many low income families.

It took me 4 months to find my current 2004 Town Car with only 50,000 miles on it for $7,500. It is like brand new and I absolutely love it. I will be driving it for a long time to come

I bought a 2008 Town Car with 75,000 miles this spring and I love it. Its the most comfortable car I've ever owned, it floats down the road like a cloud; but with the V8 and the rear wheel drive it can even be a little fun if you enjoy whipping what is essentially a luxury cop car around.

I bought a 2000 Lincoln towncar which had over 230k miles. Very reliable and smooth running. Its probably the only luxury car that uses regular unleaded.

2002 grand marquis here,with 93,000 miles. Only had to replace intake manifold. Will never get rid of this beauty.

Brendan, you sure got it right. I just picked up a 2007 with 83K miles -- paid a lot (my late wife's 2012 Honda Plus $1000), but it's worth it. Car is like new. It's a throwback to another era -- a wonderful, luxurious ride. Cars like this no longer exist, pity!! It's great.

I’ve had a 2000 signature edition town car since 2016 and use it as my daily driver. I’ve had to place the air suspension and a few small things but it runs great and is largely rust free despite almost 25 years of Michigan salt. It’s proof that Ford CAN make a quality sudan if they want to.

Just picked up a 03 Signature with 70k miles on it. 21yr old one owner car. It’s sitting in the driveway next to my 03 Cartier LTC that has 125k miles on it. Both southern cars with no rust at all. I owned a 2011 L model (extended version). Best car. Engine bullet proof, same with trans. Under the veneer, its just like a Crown Vic. Only weak point is the plastic manifold covers they used, they tend to leak or crack. Mine was leaking so I Put in a liquid leak stopper, and that solved the problem. The engine idles very low, same with driving, so the engine doesn't get high RPM wear, another reason they last so long.

I wish I could post pictures. My 2010 has 426587 on the clock. As far as I know it's factory engine but trans was rebuilt or replaced before I got it. But is absolutely a blast to drive.

I purchased a 2011 signature limited silver with black interior and a aftermarket touch screen infotainment system with 53,000 miles in 2022 for $19,000 through Carvana. Perfect. Smells, rides, and drives like brand new! 3 previous owners babied it with endless service records. Did I pay a premium? Yes. But knowing that car will easily be with me the rest of my life so long as basic maintenance is done means I’m getting my moneys worth.

I have owed three Panthers. 85 Crown Vic, 92 Crown Vic and a 2005 Town Car. My son still drives the Town Car. Try and find one from the South that is rust free.

I bought a 2001 Executive back in 2018 off an elderly widower who just wanted to get rid of it for $2200. It had 69K miles on it and is in excellent condition. I bought it for my son's first car. When my daughter needed a car last year I bought a 2010 Lexus ES 350 and gave my son a choice between the Lexus and the Towncar. He stuck with the Towncar. One problem to mention about the Towncar is that many have a tendency to leak water into the passenger side once the gasket on the front cowling starts to deteriorate.

Back in 2013, I bought a 1996 Town Car with a bad intake for $500, it had just over 200k on it. I replaced the intake and daily drove that car for the next 5 years. I put over 150k on that car before I gave it to my dad a few years ago and bought a Crown Vic. Today my dad still drives it and now it has 380k. That was the best $500 I ever spent.

These cars should be appreciated as they are incredibly versatile. Interesting story - circa 1992 a ride-share pioneer picked up a new Panther platform Towncar with the 4.6 from a lot in the LA area one evening and drove down the San Diego where he picked up about seven passengers and started to go back north. Unfortunately they were observed by a couple of guys in a pea-green 91 Caprice police package sedan and the chase was on. The speeds reportedly went triple digit until the Caprice had to back off from overheating. A helicopter picked up where the Caprice was forced to leave off and guided others to locate the TC, which took a freeway exit, found a dead-end street, and the driver and passengers decided to find other conveyances. Local public services caught up with them and found them a van shuttle to where they could bet a bus ride. Anyway, the guys from the caprice were later taking some ribbing because the Caprice, which was rightfully a fast car, got outrun by a portly TC with a 4.6…. The lot where the TC came from was glad to have it back.

This is a great video. I bought a mercury marauder in 2005 kept it till 2018. 200,000+ miles wish I had kept it and just fixed the problem with the timing chain guides. But I got a 2008 GS grand Marquis in 2018. Only 18,000 miles like new when I bought it from a lady who told me she couldn’t drive anymore. It was the closest thing to taking the time machine back to The showroom back in 2008. Now it has 86,600 miles. The only thing I’ve done or things I have gotten done. Blend door actuator. Power window motor. Thermostat. Windshield wiper motor. Some switch in the front signal. Brake light switch. The original brake pads and rotors are still good said my mechanic. Belts and hoses perfectly fine. No need to replace anything in the front end yet. I did put on bigger 18 inch rims. Got a dual exhaust some more chrome on the car. Spoiler. I put a Hood ornaments on it too. The most reliable most comfortable car I’ve ever bought. I went out and bought a 2003 Lincoln town car. It mostly belong to a mother-daughter couple in Florida. But it did have one owner before the men to owners after them. Still inside it looks like new. I can tell they kept the car inside in Florida for all those years. Inside the garage or carport. Because the dashboard looks perfect the seats look nice just a tiny bit of wear on the bolster of the driver seat. Doesn’t look like anyone sat in any of the other seats. They had left it out in the sun in Florida all the time he would’ve been able to tell especially on the dash pad. A town car is great it has all Bells and whistles. 93,200 miles when I bought it. I did have to do the upper and lower control arms and upper and lower ball joints as well as a differential service new fuel filter new tires. But that’s all regular maintenance for a 20 year old car. The only other thing that needs his air conditioning dryer. I guess after 20 years of sitting at the bottom they get corroded and it’s leaking. But I’ll wait to do that until the summertime.

These are such beautiful cars!! They are safe and reliable and for their size you get great gas mileage. I just purchased one and get 20 mpg's in the city!

I’m a young senior with a beautiful 2006 Presidential Edition Town Car, carriage top, factory sunroof and chrome wheels. My plan is to keep it forever. It’s in like new rust free condition even though it gets driven all the time - I like a good road trip. Oil changes every 2,500 miles, trans service every 25,000 miles, differential service every 50,000 miles. It has needed almost nothing in repairs; an alternator, a master cylinder, a serpentine belt and pulleys - that’s it besides tires and batteries in 17 years on the road. It is very quiet, and I actually plan on adding additional sound mat to make it even more luxurious. I did buy a complete center console assembly and pieces from a salvage Mercury Marauder to convert it from a column shift to a center console shift as my personal preference.

The '02 Cartier we have is top of the line, we LOVE it, over 200K now, still runs like new. I had the intake manifold replaced, not expensive at all, this stopped the coolant leak. BEST car we've ever owned, last car we'll ever have to buy, paid 3500 six years ago, it's the best ! Just take your new car, and shove it ... I don't want it.

Had a 97 grand marquis til it rusted out in 2013 or so. They’re nice cars. Comfy seats and a nice ride

I have an ’09 TownCar Signature Series with over 550,000 miles. Runs great and I get about 25mg on the highway.

I made a huge mistake on this car. My Dad offered me it 10 years ago. Was his winter car sat for pretty much that 10 years till i had some heart problems and sold my Stinger to pay for them being he had the old Lincon in the back yard. It is amazing car! Ill keep it up and running as long as i can fight off the Ohio rust! She down in Florida now took her from Warren Ohio to Tampa Florida 9 am to 3am in one day was such an amazing ride !

There are some beaters for cheaper but in AZ (rust free) these cars are going for 5 to 7k. I got a nice one overall for 5400 but it needed some work : brakes, shocks, tires. Still very happy with it

Just picked up a mint, one-owner 2007 Signature in "Cashmere Tri-Coat" with 158k miles for $3,000. Runs and drives great. Amazing cars! Ditch your car payment and float down the highway in style and confidence.

Just about to purchase an 08 Grand Marquis LS with 86K from my uncle. Back seats almost never used. Looking forward to many years of comfort and reliability.

Way ahead of you. I have the Signature Limited and the back seat is ginormous. As any TC owner will tell you, you rate the trunk size by how many bodies you can stack back there. I've had 4 main issues with mine. The air shocks went out, so I replaced them with a spring kit. And the intake manifold went out, which was about $1600. That one hurt. The ignition coils went out. Only get Motorcraft and you can find them online. When one goes bad, they're all about to go bad. Just get Motorcraft. And at one point water was getting in the passenger side floorboard. Turned out the air intake seal was bad under the hood. One tube of RTV later and it was good to go. That's all the abnormal maintenance I've had to do on it in 7 years. So maybe $2600 total in 7 years. Also the 2006 has an amazing stereo (looks like the one in the video). Sounds like there are subwoofers back there. If you ever play Aerosmith "Dream On" there's a note in there that you can normally only hear with subwoofers. I can hear it in mine. So sweet. And that's with factory speakers.

Had a 88 town car. Bought from a retired Lincoln executive. Car was pristine and beautiful. People would come over and look at it at the gad station like it was a Rolls-Royce! It was the best car I ever owned. Drove it 200,000 miles ,all I ever did was General maintenance. Parts started to get hard to find,headlite relay switch took weeks to find! I miss this car. Driving lexus now and love it but , its not the Lincoln.

I drive a 2006 Signature with 170,000 miles. A co-worker asked when I was getting a new car. I was like why? This thing rides nicer than any new car I could afford. I'm still having to fix things every once in a while but it still drives too well to consider getting rid of it.

My first car ever was a 1988 Town Car. 5.0 engine, plush, velvety bench seats in front AND back, and more torque than any of my friend's little 4 bangers. Man, that car was amazing. It took a beating (I was an ignorant teenager), but it came out swinging. Well, until a jealous ex poured about a gallon of sugar into the tank. RIP.

I currently own a 2007 Lincoln Town Car. It's the Signature Limited. It has 214K miles on it & everything works as it should, even the air ride suspension. I absolutely love the car & would trust it to drive across the country if I needed to. Great car!

There are multiple Crown Vics and TownCars that have seen over 1 million miles with the 4.6L and the old 302. There's even a 2011 Crown Vic with over 1 million miles that has never had anything replaced on the engine or the transmission. Not even Lexus comes close to the same reliability since the "million mile Lexus" needed multiple transmissions and a lot of repairs to make it over a million miles.

I have a 2001 Cartier, pearl white with the tan leather interior, 80000 miles now and the car drives like a dream. Smooth, comfortable, big and lazy cruiser. I just love the thing although I might have to sell it to buy some expensive work equipment.

I am a lincoln town car owner 2003, bought in 2023 (Halifax, Canada) . You are so right about its assets and I am so happy to drive this car. Some problems (minor) that can be found as said: electric windows or some rust under the vinyl top (my car has a vinyl top). But yes it is the top driving experience I have ever had (and I am an european driver, from France). Thank for your comment about this great car. If you have some tips I would be glad to hear about them. Moreover, I think that we, owners, are members of a little community, Town Car boys (or girls). Its like a philosophy. Take care !

There was another trim level for 2003: Cartier. I can also report (I've owned mine since new in 2003) that there is a real down side to this year model. Almost every computer on it is one year only. I had to buy the lighting module a while back and as far as I can tell I bought the last NOS one in North America. Nobody sells remans so if anything goes wrong, this car will be stranded for weeks while I ship something to California to get fixed. I think you're good if you own a 2004-2011.

I got my 1999 for $2500 and it had 75,000 miles. 4 years ago and I still have it.

I had a '90 Grand Marquis for about 3 years from '00 to '03 It's definitely an automotive experience you cannot buy new today, but I'm not really yearning to go back there. I get it though, it's a luxury experience that doesn't come with luxury car repair costs. Today the pre 2000 vehicles would make great sub $1,000 transportation, maybe $1,500 if it was clean, $3,000 for a newer model. But let's not over sell this experience. If you want the comfort of your living room couch, just stay home.

I've had my 2003 TC for over 9 years. Just turned over 100,000 miles. Still runs like a clock. However the fuel pump went out at 100,000 mls & those darned " blendoors" are a pain in the BUTT! The car gets 23-24 mpg on the open road, very good for a V8. They are very good cars but in my opinion, like ALL MODERN VEHICLES NOW....way too many computors....moduls....& electronic crap that we don't really need. And the fuel pump replacement of which once upon a time was an easy fix on an old car, has now become a MAJOR JOB with the pump mounted inside the fuel tank. So much for progress!!!

For what it’s worth, I’ll quote one of the richest men in NYC whose company had an account with our company back in the days before Uber, when it was pretty much yellow cabs or limousine service. One time I picked him up from the airport (his driver couldn’t get to him; hurricane Sandy times, fuel shortages…), and as we’re going down the highway, he’s like “what kind of car is this? I’m starting to consider buying this as a replacement to my Maybach if/when I have to”. I was a bit taken back, but I told him it was just a Lincoln Town Car, extended version. He was like “I have to say, this is the most comfortable car I’ve been in, it’s really nice”. I was like “are you telling me this is better than your Maybach?” Then he laughed “ok, I don’t mean that, but truly this is better than everything else I’ve been in; BMW, Lexus, AUDI…”. Then he added “now, for all I know those cars (BMW, etc) may be better cars overall. I don’t know enough about them, but as a passenger sitting in this back seat, this is much better.” This is a true story that was such a revelation for me that I remember to this day.

I traded mine for a new '04 Lincoln LS. It's easier to park it around town and more power too. Still have it and still like it...

The Lincoln Town car, the Ultimate 70 year old man vehicle!! I miss the Town Car, especially going to the airport in a livery fleet vehicle, they were so comfortable to ride in and they were elegant and classy. They don't make them like her anymore sadly.

Own a 04’ Ultimate. Got it at 58k miles for $5k during the height of car prices. Truly blessed to have gotten my hands on a 94 year old ladies car. Respect these things as they were many people’s last cars they’ve owned after retiring.

My Dad loved those big sedans. He was a Chevy die hard so he always had Impalas and Caprices. He was one of those folks that traded in vehicles every 3 years.

I have a 2003 TC and I bought it specifically for its luxury and reliability and simplicity. It's perfect! Also I'm making a long call; I think around 2030, the prices of these Panthers are gonna skyrocket like Toyotas did once people find out how good these cars are.

I got one with 210,000 miles still going strong. And another one 124,000 both Cartier. And my dad has a signature l with 110,000 miles. Lincoln Town cars have a special place in my heart and I'm a Chevy man.

It's funny how there's a rust spot on the driver rear quarter panel wheel well. I have the same rust spot on my 2008 model 2:27 Lazy boy chair with a steering wheel 4:55 Bought my car back in 2010 with 33,000 miles for $20,000 dollars. Best investment ever now with 233,295 miles with no regrets at all.

Bought mine a year ago. Pulled out for the test drive, felt like I was riding on air and I was sold. #1 thing to know is that they all burn oil. So check your oil level; running it dry is one sure way to kill a Town Car.

So much love for these Panthers! I had a '96 Crown Vic and it gave me 80,000 nearly trouble free miles for a $1600 price tag. Except for the window mechanisms all failing, it was such a rugged, everyday car.

My great grandma bought one new in 04, drove it 2k miles before she passed. Due to my family’s greediness it just sits in the garage at the house rotting under sheets. Sat in it a few times over the years to remember her by and it’s flawless, not one stone chip or wrinkle in the leather and only has a little under 3k miles on it. Tried to buy it from the siblings with no luck, they don’t even want it, they’re letting it rot with the house it’s in.

These panther platforms are reliable and robust. I have 320k miles on a Mercury Marauder and 210,000 on a 2010 TownCar, and I’d say the only thing to look out for is the intake manifold around 200k miles. Pretty much everything else will just depend on how badly it was abused by the previous owner (switches, body panels, etc)

I have a Panther with 464,000 miles and it still runs strong. It has the rear air suspension and just last year I had to replace the air bags that developed leaks. The 4.6 liter modular engine started out in the 1991 Lincoln Town Car and at that time it developed 190 horsepower. My car has 210 and it seems to run just fine. Yes, those blend door actuators do tend to fail; I have replaced mine once in 30 years. GREAT VIDEO!

I used to rent these when I needed to take my mom and a couple of other elderly relatives on a long trip, great comfortable car that gets decent gas mileage and can carry lots of luggage.

I worked at Enterprise for few years, out of the few of the long term rentals we had active, a 2010 Black Town car finally returned 4 years later with almost 500k miles. I didn’t even know we had those cars to rent! Everyone in the office was checking it out and would sit in the back 😂. It went straight to auction 2 days later.

I just bought an '07 a couple of months ago and am currently halfway across the country visiting family, drove it here no problem. Bought it in Denver for 5,000 and put about $500 into it minus tires.

EXCELLENT car review Mr. Beard, thank you. You laid it all out, both pluses and minuses, and did a good honest car review of an old car that I actually really want now. These are amazing cars. Like you said they're an old-school type of luxury that is so pillowy soft they literally don't make cars this soft and comfortable and luxurious anymore. Not only that they're super affordable and not only that they're also super affordable to maintain long-term/high-mileage. Yes please. Also I love the interior styling and dash of the Lincoln Town Car over the other "panther platform" cars.

The trunk is also power closing. And I’m not talking about the soft close. If you hit the button again the trunk will close. Same with the key fob, you can open and close it.

I got a 1998 Town Car for free from my brother, it has 107,000 miles now. The airbags have been replaced 😊plus it is a California car, Signature model . The CD changer in the truck had never been used before I got it a few months ago 😊

I use my Town Car for towing. V8 power and airbag suspension makes it easy to tow 1500 lbs cargo trailer.

Windshield wiper motor. When the wiper parking switch goes bad, when you turn off the wipers they stop in the full-up position, obscuring your vision. Pain in the arse to fix. This is common on Fords in general.

I daily drove a 1989 Grand Marquis LS from 1997-2019. Besides the electrical stuff like power window motors, door lock actuators and the motor on the power antenna, it was a great car.

I had a 87 with a mustang powertrain it was a nice sleeper, bought a 92 with 99k miles sold it with 350k miles the guy still drove it for next 4-5 years another one was a 95 triple green that was a nice ride didn’t have it long needed a pickup. 2010 crown Vic now has 200k miles runs great and 98 grand marquis with 180k miles sails down the road like a sail boat.

Back in January 2014, after doing some research on Lincolns, I purchased a 1993 Town Car Executive from my neighbor who's hobby was purchasing Town Cars, spruce them up a little, and then sell them. The car had 68K miles. (That's a 21 year old car at the time, mind you.) My neighbor said he purchased it from the proverbial "little old lady who drove it on Sundays". I bought it for $3,400 and began bringing everything up to speed -- change all fluids, full brake job, replace the belt, etc. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised at how much work I could do on it myself. Two drawbacks I noticed about the car from sitting for long periods of time in the previous owner's garage was that the the tires had permanent "flat spots", so they had to be replaced, and the valve seals became dry, so the car smokes a little and will go through a quart of oil every 400 miles on a road trip. Since I cruise around 68 mph on the interstate, I've been able to get 25 mpg fairly consistently; with a good tailwind, I can get as high as 28 mpg. The only major repairs that I have had a mechanic perform are replacing the steering gearbox and other components of the steering & suspension system, the heater core, window motors, a component of the ignition switch that had burned out, and the airbags. It currently has 160,000 miles on it and drives smoother than most other luxury cars. To quote Ferris Bueller, "I must be honest here. I love driving it. It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

I have an 07 with 140k on it, the only major thing major ive had to do is the intake manifold, probably because I drove this thing like it was a race car lol. It has no rust and the paint looks like it’s almost new. It just needs to be given some love and it looks awesome

I have an 03 with 211k miles and i just replaced the factory airbags a month ago. I've owned it for 7 years and the only time i got stranded was when the radiator busted. Super reliable and I only use Motor Craft parts.

I have 2 Lincoln Mark VIII's a 98 Collectors Edition and a 97 black on black that I picked up cheap over the last 8 years they are both in great shape with low miles, I did some things to both basically just maintainance nothing crazy and they run like new , I have no interest in anything being offered today and will keep these forever and just tweak whatever needs fixing over time ,they look better than 95 % of whats on the road today and I couldn't be happier ,saving lots of money too .

I bought an '04 with 130 thousand 6 years ago, now just turned 175,000 and runs great, no oil burning, leaks, etc. I did have to do the plastic intake manifold and a few other things, but overall, not bad for a 3000-dollar car. With good parts availability, I have no doubt of getting 200K and 20+ years of service, and here in rust belt NY, that is about all anyone could ask.

Driver power seat motor is guaranteed to go bad because of the ill conceived (and non disable-able) feature where it travels to maximum rearward position for ingress / egress. If the motor is still working, it's best to set the seat where you like it and unplug the motor under the seat. Replacing the motor requires a complete rebuild of the entire undercarriage of the seat. Not a simple swap. Keep the MAF clean by spraying it with proper cleaner occasionally. Refresh the ATF before it goes bad. After 100k some Lucas Stop Slip might not hurt. When the original alum wheels are too far gone to deal with, look for compatible mustang wheels that may be found for a bargain. (See Lincolns online for compatible years). The seal under to cowl around the cabin intake air dry out. Remove the cowl covers and inner flange at the intake and caulk it to prevent wet/ musty carpet in front passenger side foot well. 03 had a alternator controlled by the ECM. If ECM driver goes bad, simple buy an alternator for 04+ model and direct wire sense line to V batt. Save over a grand over the cost of replacing the ECM. Trans shift cable end grommet can break off while the rest of the cable remains functional. You can jury rig a fix with wire rope and clamps. Wash the salt off. Even behind the fuel fill door.

I think I will stick with my little Honda FIT that I traded in a Nissan Frontier for. I love my FIT and I do not see the desire for a boat of a car. I can park literally everywhere. I get some people like these old large cars but at my age of just turning 70 a few weeks ago, I will stick with the smallest car I can get. I have some neighbors that are in their 80s and they LOVE their big old TOWN CAR! I love them so it is all okay with us both.

I wanted a town car but had to settle for the MKc and so far not one problem the seats are so comfortable and it gets 36 mpg on the hwy. the seats are soo comfortable unlike my friends RAV-4

My guilty pleasure being a GM/Mopar guy that's generally anti-Ford, are these Panther cars. I've always been a big fan and they're really the only modern Ford product that i would consider owning. You can find them cheap but even a few $K is out of my budget at the moment. Maybe someday. Great video as always!

I have had several Town Cars, love them! Currently driving a 2010 Signature Limited just "broken in" at 168000 miles 😂. Big surprise on that one: after driving it for 6 months, I took it in for a wheel balance and told the mechanic to make sure to turn off the air suspension with the button in the trunk. 5 minutes later he comes back: " you dont have air suspension, buddy". I go "what the what!?" Turns out Ford decided to not offer that anymore for the final 2010-2011 years. The biggest surprise to me was that I hadn't noticed the difference!

The 4.6 Modular V8 is a incredibly reliable engine. It lives on today as the 5.0 Coyote. Ford engineers started with the basic architecture of the DOHC 4.6 in the Mustang Cobra and went from there. The Modular V8 has been in production for 30 years now and still going strong. With decent maintenance the 4.6 will run 300K+ miles easily.
