I actually owned one of these for a few years from new. Thunder Grey metallic. My assessment is, it’s an underrated driver’s car. Very good steering/chassis feedback, precise shifter, great brakes, limited slip differential, the ride is harsh over rough pavement, but the seats are extremely comfortable. Second only to my BMW M-Seats for comfort believe it or not. Also came with a great sounding 1,200 watt factory stereo w/subwoofer. The bad? Well, it should’ve had at least 200HP, the interior (apart from the seats) was cheap looking, the paint was thin, brittle and chipped mercilessly. The first year the front-end looked like it had been sand blasted. The actual driving experience was excellent though. If it had a few more ponies under the hood I think it would’ve been remembered as one of the greats.

I don't think people appreciate how good standard Lancers are. I had a 93 coupe and that thing was fun.

I had this Engine 2.4 Mivec in my mirage 2 doors. With high Pistons, 2.5 Exhaust,intake,headers and Ecu Tuning 198HP. Very great engine.

Dude, I had one of these! I bought it off the original owner who completely built it. It was his first car. I owned it for 3 months and then it blew up… hydro locked the engine. But dude that was the most fun car I’ve owned! Built bottom end, equal length headers, complete exhaust. Still wasn’t the fastest but sure was the loudest! Haha miss that car

Get these for like 2500 now... And 162hp in a 4cly is always gonna be fun my saying is any 4 banger with 150hp plus are usually pretty fun especially in stick .

damn. I do miss my 04 lancer. not going to lie, sometimes I did feel a little embarrassed parking her next to Evos. she was the almost Evo. the car you got because you couldn't afford the Evo. still, it was a fun little car.

I already had this generation Ralliart Lancer on my list of first cars to consider buying, but now it's got The Smoking Tire approval!!

I bought this car new when they came out. Surprisingly a great car. The only negative when bought stock was they put snow/mud tires on it significantly dropping the numbers. I think they didn’t want them to close to an Evo. Fun little car.

Cool kid. And for daily whip the Lancer Ralliart is a cool choice too. I've always heard that the insurance is astronomical compared to some of it's competitors (like the Civic SI) because of the "Lancer Evo" connection. But maybe that's bunk. Besides that seems like a great value for $3-4k. :)

I had a friend in high school who had one of these in high school (2013), it was a really cool car. The little wheels and low profile tires and boxy sedan was a unique look at the time. I had a stock 2007 Mazda 3 sedan, and I had another friend with a 8th gen civic sedan. When you’re young, you take what you can get and appreciate what you have!

The 4B12 replaced the 4G69 engine. Both are 2.4L liter MIVEC, but the only difference is SOHC vs DOHC (intake & exhaust). The 4B12 has sooo much more potential.

Looks like a lot of fun. It takes me back to when I had an '03 base model Lancer. They really can be fun. Mine had Tein coilovers (what was then known as Basic), Progress rear sway bar, intake, cat back. Sold it about 5 years ago when they were still worth $5k to the right buyer. That was a fun car to drive. The only thing it lacked was a manual transmission. My wife still misses the GReddy exhaust sound.

I had a 2003 Lancer and that thing was bullet proof. Drove it all over North America for 10 years with nary a problem. Hopefully Shirlena (that was/is her name) is still putting around somewhere.

This kid had fun... Respect! not many people know that his Lincoln Mark 8 has a cobra motor.. Hope we get to see that one. I had a Mark VII. Was basically a Luxury mustang lol.

I had one of these once upon a time ago, except I had the automatic, which was a 4 speed that couldn't handle aggressive driving without overheating. Oh, and the wheels on this car aren't OZ Rally wheels. They had an OZ Rally trim that came with OZ Rally wheels, but the stock wheels that came on this trim were Enkei's.

Awe man, brought back memories. I use to own one of these for 6 years and honestly was just a okay car. In the end was happy to move on from it.

Those 2.4l 4-cylinder USDM engines are so weird from an european perspective.
