@@josezuazua7936 the exhaust manifold bolts like to break on the LS based motors. Not too bad to replace in the front but the ones on the back can be a bear. Makes a ticking noise when they break. There's also some kind of bolt on clamp repair part you can get but i don't know how well they work. With your mileage it shouldn't be an issue, but something to keep an eye on.
TheGameChangerHD thanks man! I have a video where I stuck a GoPro on the back and drove a bit plus a few other clips to see how it sounds. Check it out!
Them 6.0 364ci LS small block are about as bulletproof as the 350 or 400ci small block of 70s and 80s I run full syntec oil and flush the rad every 2 years they will last a long long time and a little bit of krown or ziebart undercoat doesn't hurt either.... nice truck
I need to do this with my 2000 chevy 2500 Non HD silverado. It looks very close to yours besides year and i have chrome 16x8 chrome bullet hole wheels. The right side down pipe broke in half and the last owner did a shit weld repair so i plan on having that cut out ans fixed and cut the muffler off and either keep the factory 3in single tailpipe or run a pair of 2.5 dual tailpipes i found for sale
I got a 2006 Silverado 2500hd with black widow true duals with 3" exhaust...to loud for me but sounds very mean...always wanted this when I was 10yrs younger, lol
Haha, I’ve since changed it up multiple times. Went to true dual no muffler, then added an x-pipe, then got it all redone to 3 inch dual with a muffler. Super quiet for me right now but it’s a lot nicer on a longer drive for sure. Kinda miss being loud but not really it’s 50/50 for me. I need cutouts or something
I got a 01' 2500hd. Pipe on passenger side bank snapped off the cat last night, downstream side (good news, cats still full at 250k lol) and it sounds horrible. Now i gotta separate the drivers side as well and hopefully that makes it sound alittle better. I hate true duals, this video is awesome because i only see a single exit. I think im gonna go with an X pipe and hopefully that mixes the banks together good enough to sound similar to a 2-1 collector
In my video “best exhaust for a 6.0L” it has an x pipe with no muffler in a dual exit configuration. Definitely way better than true dual with both separate.
im looking into doing this to my truck, my muffler rotted out so i cut it off right in front of the muffler. it drones pretty bad but then again its dumped under the cab. how is the drone just driving around town and such? do you notice it with the windows up?
Drifted with windows up playing music and just driving normally I never really noticed it. I think it’s a good setup. I just switched over to a true dual though.
James Boswell if you can find long tube headers use them because I think that sound a lot better but I haven’t been able to find them for this truck cause I have the same one
Matrix Digital I think pacesetter has some. Their for a 4.8/5.3 but I believe they bolt up just fine to a 6.0. They all look exactly the same from the outside. My dads 5.3 Yukon’s engine looks identical to mine and we can swap out basically any part. And the only reason I prefer shorty’s is because it keeps somewhat of s factory setup. I’ve heard and read that for a daily driven vehicle that long tubes tend to heat up components like the starter and make them wear quicker. Also you have to modify the whole top part of the piping to get them to fit.
@@jamesboswell_6.0 stock manifolds flow just as good as short headeds. Unless youre going catless with longtubes you wont hear any difference or make any more power with shorties
daniel orozco around 65-70 in the upper 2k’s it will. It’s not horrible but would get annoying on a trip. With the radio up you really don’t notice it though.
@@Vanwelson it's a bit steep, I would definitely get quotes from other shops or even just save up and go for full on custom exhaust setup in my opinion
Vanwelson Von Schmekle ehh little expensive for what your doing. My gto was quoted 1400 to install my headers and exhaust. I did the headers myself and had a shop put the exhaust on nice and straight for $100. I knew him personally so maybe shoot for the $200 mark if your just doing a little modification to the exhaust. But if your getting the whole thing done, then maybe $400 is a realistic number.
James Boswell James Boswell oh dang👌🏼. How often do you change your oil and filter and spark plugs. And what other maintenance do you do. Just subscribed
Mopar Charger Thanks! I use synthetic 5w-30 and change it every 5k miles along with the oil filter. Honestly I haven’t even pulled my spark plugs yet. I should probably replace all of that just because I don’t know the last time they have been changed. Besides oil I don’t have any routine maintenance that I do. I’ve only had to replace steering and suspension components on it plus various sensors. I Haven’t had any issues with the drivetrain in the 20k miles I’ve put on it.
Mopar Charger I daily it, if I’m easy on it I get 8.5mpg but I still have a bad sensor that should help that. On the highway it’ll get 10.5-11mpg going about 55-60. Cruising at 70 it’ll eat gas since I’m on 35’s and have 4.10’s in the rear end. For long trips it’s definitely comfortable to drive but it wouldn’t be my first vehicle of choice unless I’m hauling a trailer bc of gas.
I saw this somewhere but it’s 3 inch before the muffler and then it’s 3.5 inch after. So 3 inch goes into that Y and then the Y expands to 3.5 I’m pretty sure
Sean Blakeslee tires are Firestone Destination m/t and the size is 315/75R16 basically a 34.5/35 tall by 12.5 wide tire. It does rub on the upper control arm so it needs a bit of offset to go full crank without rubbing. I bought the truck how it sits now so I can’t say for sure what the lift is but I’m guessing it’s a 3-4 inch lift just basing it off of some friends trucks that are stock.
