2004 Toyota 4Runner windshield washer pump replacement. Hard to find a video so I made one. Sorry the video is not that great but you will be able to replace your windshield washer pump motor when you finish. It's ok to bash it if you can find a better one out there. If not this is the best there is. Lol!

one of the best repair videos on the internet: you don't have to take the wheel off like other videos you dont have to take the inner liner completely off like other videos you get the perfect lazy, smart man's guide to wiper pump replacement, I used this for my sienna and it worked great, thank you, people of this caliber are rare and valuable.

Thanks so much! Very informative and useful. Dealer wants over $250 for 1 and 1/2 hours shop time and parts to do exactly what you did in 12 minutes, even while making a video!

The aftermarket pump is still working. I never compared it to the OEM but 2 years later it’s still working great!!

Very helpful. Bought an aftermarket pump off Amazon for less than $20 and took 30 minutes to replace. Great video!

I know this is an older video but my son just got a used 2003 4runner. It had no windshield spray so I looked into it and found your video. Got a pump and changed it out. Thank you for the video! We appreciate it!

Thanks Danny. You are right, It is hard to find videos showing how to replace this simple part. I have a 2000 Tacoma which has a slightly different reservoir pump than your 2004 4Runner, but close enough that your video at least got me going in the right direction. Thanks for seeing the need and making this video.

Thank you for posting this video! I was able to change out the washer pump in my son's 2003 Toyota 4Runner without a problem (well other than trying to remove the old pump due to years of caked on dirt).

Thank you, this is just what I needed! FYI for anyone it's better to use the orange fluid (unfortunately it's not sold in California) but the orange one won't freeze in cold temperature and burst your lines.

The question your video answered was whether to insert the gasket first, then the pump, or insert both as a single unit. Your way is the best way so as to not risk damaging the reservoir. It's the simple things like this that can get me into trouble. BTW, my problem was the float switch on a 2002 Tacoma, but the replacement process is essentially the same. Thank you for taking the time to make and post your video, it saved my rear end, and I'm not referring to the differential.

Superskunk1954 Hey. Thanks! I am glad it helped. It was my first attempt at a video. Just fast forward through the boring parts.

I wonder how much you paid for the part? And I wonder how much different a highlander is from a 4runner. You make it look so easy.

I suspect this is what I have to do on a 04 Tacoma crew cab. 250k on it, and looks and still runs like brand new.

Is this aftermarket pump as affective as the OEM? Have you ever had a chance to compare with another rig?

Verhniy Balkon The aftermarket pump is still working great after 2 years! I did not compare it to the OEM but there have been no problems at all

IF THE PUMP IS NOT WORKING... THE WIPERS ARE NOT GOING TO WORK? OR THOSE ARE TWO SEPARATE THINGS? BECAUSE MY REAR WIPER AND WASHER ARE WORKING BUT THE FRONT WIPERS AND WASHER ARE NOT, 2008 TOYOTA 4RUNNER...
@danielsden77

M&R Garcia That is 2 separate issues. It sounds like the switch or the motor on the wipers may be bad. The pump only operates the windshield wiper fluid.

Your southern accent and the scenery makes me think you might be in Georgia. Just guessing.

I just changed the reservoir but when I turn on the windshield wipers for it to shot water I just hear a noise and nothing comes out. My question is if the motor goes out does it make a small noise when you turn it on or does it just stay quite ?

For me, it made no sound at all
