The right inner tie rod end started making some noise on my GTI. Wasn't sure if the tie rod is replacable - but you walked me through the repair. Thanks. Very valuable

Just a word of advice. EVERYTHING on a car is replaceable if you got the time for it.

Love the film style, recently replaced all of my strut assemblys and swaybar endlinks. Ended up having to torch then cut the last driver side front swaybar endlink top, was able to get the others off just with an impact, allen, or visegrips. always that last annoying bolt. then cut through the swaybar right on the end curve/bolt hole while going through the bolt head and had to weld sand and paint that then button back up. This was after ordering $600 dobinsons coil springs for new excel g struts which did not fit the top mounts. Installed the rear KYB struts with reused OEM shocks with the eastwood mcpherson compressor kit, the fronts on my 2016 crv had very odd shaped slightly worn out coils which wouldnt fit the style of compressor so ended up having to return both front excel-g struts boots and mounts and go with 2 napa front assemblies. Much respect for you and how easy you make things look. Took me 2 weeks after work and weekends with all of the MI rust and tight spaces. Having rigged marine outboards for a bit in the past I have a great set of tools ive acquired but there's always another tool I need around the bend haha. Keep it up! I enjoy the videos as I'm sure many others do as well.

thank you for the video and yes I do read the description although only when I'm looking for more details like what a part is called that was mentioned once or if it works on other models etc... also to look for social media tags like your twitch

Who makes the screw clamp driver you're using?

Wurth Nut Driver. You can use any nut driver tho. the hose clamps vary depending on their size. I have 3 drivers, 6mm, 7mm and 8mm. That covers 99% of the hose clamps I have to deal with.

Is this the same for a VR6? I'm guessing so but just making sure. My mechanic claims you have to remove the steering rack.

The VR6 setup isn't any different where the suspension/rack is iirc (granted it's been QUITE awhile since I've seen a MK4 VR6.). It should be similar, but removing the steering rack I believe is recommended by the manual, so he may be going off that alone and hasn't really tried it to know it's not terribly bad, or it could just be different, that's the tough part about being a mechanic, everything is so different yet so similar.

@@deamonmachine thanks, got it figured out. Yeah he was going off of what the All Data information had said. Ended up not having to remove the rack. It was exactly the same as the one you changed in the video. Thanks for the prompt response

Maybe easier to take off the control arm to get at the inner tie rod if it’s really stuck on?

Easier? Probably not, the control arms are also kind of a pain. However it's definitely an option if you need to gain more access, so not a wrong answer.

Those meyle tie rods are horrible quality. Stick with lemforder next time. Same price as mayle ones
