Watch a full tutorial as a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee will have a Pioneer double din bluetooth radio installed. This radio provides additional features including bluetooth, USB, backup camera compatibility, and an enhanced sound quality. We will be retaining the factory backup camera, premium Boston audio system, and steering wheel volume controls.
This video applies to Jeep Grand Cherokee models for years 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. This video also includes complete radio wiring and assembly, installation, and testing.

@@JohnSmithduh Your factory amplifier most likely isn't turning on. Ensure your blue / white wire on your harness is hooked up to the remote trigger wire of your radio.

Just FYI: With the older (2005-2007) WK Grand Cherokees, all you have to do to get access to the radio is pull out the surround around the factory radio, which also includes the vents. For some reason, in 2008, you had to remove the whole center console, as shown here. The process shown here will ALSO work for the 2008-2010 Jeep Commander XK. :)

This was a great instructional video. I just installed a Pioneer into a 2007 JGC and couldn't have done it without this video. Thank you very much! Only issues were the dash kit, and antenna were not the correct ones. At least for the 2007 JGC Overland, you need the Metra 99-6510 Dash Kit and the Metra 40-CR10 Antenna Adapter.

Great video. I just installed an aftermarket stereo in my 2007 Grand Cherokee, replacing the NAV system. Everything works fine, except I can't get the factory reverse camera to work as the stereo loses power when i shift into reverse. Any suggestions?

Overall, excellent video but should’ve spent less time showing soldering wires and a bit more time on one of the most significant parts of this install which is cutting that support bracket out. Is that bracket metal or plastic? How did you go about cutting it and with what tool?

Plastic, and a multi tool. Some people use a saw. Whatever works.

Thank you so much for your videos. They are really well done. I have this exact vehicle and I am planning on installing a rockford fosgate p300-12 soon. Do I have to use an aftermarket radio if I want to hook this sub to my jeep? I actually like the stock radio they provided, and if possible I’d like to just connect the sub to that unit. Please let me know if this is possible, and thanks again!

@@ProvoBeastAudio nice thank for the rec man. I’m pretty. Lear on the concept of what I have to do, but I’m a little concerned about stripping the wires on the head unit. Is there some description of which wire does what in the owners manual maybe? I get that I need to get the signal from the radio/amp/speaker, but I’m not sure how to identify which wires to connect to the LOC. sorry for the long message

The Jeep RER radio you replaced has built-in navigation maps and GPS / Sirius antennas. I heard the latter mentioned (but not much detail) and the former not mentioned at all. Does the Pioneer unit have built-in navigation maps or does one have to hook up a cell phone?

All depends on the radio you install. This Pioneer is your entry level pioneer, so no. However there are many options on the market with Android Auto / Apple Carplay or even native nav in the unit for a higher cost.

a few of these parts don't fit my 2007 JGC. might want to update to 2008-2010. The kit was too small and the antenna adapter was wrong FYI.

I installed this crux wiring kit yesterday at first the audio was not coming from speakers then after i turned the car on (running) it worked…everything was good until today and its the same issue no sound i dont know what would happen to make it stop working. Could it be the crux?

I followed the video. Works great except one thing - the Pioneer doesn't start on pre-contact of the key. So when I am in the car and waiting for someone, I cannot listen to music, except if I put the key to contact (acc), but starts so many systems and wait the car to startup... Am I missing something?

So I did this install on mine same car late last night, radio crux I used your parts list. I need to add rca and a radio Antenna everything worked perfect but for some reason I am confused on the satellite radio and the navigation radio adapter plugs that I need I am not seeing what I need on your list?

Essentially, you leave the amp plug behind the radio unplugged then, and run the white/yellow off the 3.5 for a garbage radio that doesn’t have a jack, but has a hardwire 6 pin swc retention for this, right? Tried with pac and realized I either have to run a bypass and a better amp, or literally just have tweeters and nothing else…or try this.

resolution is slightly better yes, but the camera is still pretty terrible. you could try and retrofit another camera in the same housing, but no direct replacements out there.

You still need a smart harness, yes. But you can go with the base harness by Axxess since you don't have a factory amp or steering wheel volume controls: amzn.to/3PTBaAW

It generally connects to the dash support bracket. If you have grounding issues, just wire your radio to the dash support metal bracket directly with a ring terminal.

This took about 3 hours man hours. Shop rates can vary between 50-300 an hour, and you get what you pay for. Most shops wont install your own equipment, and will only install equipment they sell. You will just have to call around.

I have a 2008 GJ diesel with factory amp. Installed Pioneer AVH 240 EX Everything set up as per instructions, but no souhd. Also SWC doesn't fit. the factory cable. Factory cable has same outlet as the antenna cable. Any ideas? Thanks

Any idea what color the steering wheel wore is in the steering column? We’re trying to hook up a stereo and retain the buttons on a 2005 grand Cherokee and the controls won’t work. Have to wire it directly to the wheel control wire but cannot find a diagram anywhere showing what color is correct for my year.

If you used a Pioneer, it has to do with the green parking brake wire which needs to either be connected to the parking brake ground wire, or with use of a bypass to unlock those settings.

So I have the amplified version in the harness connector you showed it said “not used” on certain lines does that mean the harness ONLY amplifies the 3.5 dash speakers and the door 6x9’s? Not the rear 6.5s?

No, the fade front/rear is controlled by the canbus system for Bluetooth calls/etc, so the factory amp only takes in 1 L/1 R signal and distributes to all 4 ch after. (Phone calls mute the back doors). Quite irritating setup.

@@Pairofrickowens need a bypass harness to do it (plug in at the amp, run all the way back up). That’s my current debate with my girlfriend’s Christmas gift and the cheap SJoyBring head unit she bought. Got everything in nice and neat, now realizing pac swc module/harness won’t work, while everything is back together and good, except only have tweeters and some loud ass bass, no doors. 😂 Less you feel like running from the head unit. Guess either way works if it’s apart.

A few ways, usually you will see the Boston Acoustics logo in the vehicle, or anything like a factory subwoofer are a few easy ways to check.

I can't get a regular sized double din to fit in the opening on mine, I have an 08 grand cherokee Laredo 3.7l Nothing fancy like the one in the video, but seems like there's something back there blocking me from pushing the stereo all the way in

I have used other, and i lost the language of the console. Now i cant change from german.. If i try to switch to other language German come back. With that SWrcr happens too?¿?¿¿? I have Grand Cherokee 2007 CRC
