2005 Acura TL full car stereo install

I owned this exact year and model. The Hybrid Audio Legatia Special Editions, L2SE widebands, drop right in for a perfect pressure fit install! I had to remember to shim them though to level them out. If you look at the OEM tweeters you will see a definite difference between the left and right tweeters base plates. I was also able to install the L6SE midbass drivers without any door cutting by using 0.5" ABS. They cleared the window mechanisms as well. If there was one single benefit I could point out about this car, it would be the amount of OEM sound deadening that was already in place! We simply just had to place a layer of Road Kill on the inside of the outside door skin. Then 100% coverage of the door's interior metal area. All holes needed filled since I was turning this into an IB baffle for the 7+ inch midbass that was going to play down to 40hz @ 12db. When it comes to the actual plastic door panel, do NOT be shy with Roadkill Pro with the CCF layer built on. I covered all window switches, cables, and any dangling wiring. I had to do NOTHING to the rear doors one bit or the flooring. The rear deck was a huge issue though. It still blows my mind that this Acura/Honda does not have a rear seat that will lay down....just a ski hole that is open to the trunk. The rear inner fenders are also well insulated as well. There is plenty of room under each seat for adding more midbass. If one did not want to go the traditional route with a trunk sub woofer setup, I tested several shallow 10 in subs in down firing boxes. This was after the carpet and foam was precisely cut and removed. This allowed for 1.5 in of additional depth and the enclosures were barely noticeable under the feet of the passengers. The sections of carpeting was replaced with spray contact adhesive and once the floor mats were placed back, no mods could be detected. This approach a saved tons of money and time that a trunk sub would have caused. I have pics and would gladly offer any assistance as I'm right here holding the couch down................for now.

i didn't have to cut my doors on my acura, i just used a 1inch spacer and trimmed the ring on the door panal.

Great video install love the kit used to hate working on the car and making up a kit to make it work back in the day at my old shop. Nice job fellas. 👍😀✌

I removed my HFL unit years ago due to the battery drain issue. My question is does the HFL unit have to be in place in order to make the resistor loop w/the orange/green-red wires?

There's actually a kit that allows you to retain full navi functions with a double din installed.

Huge fan any way u can make a video on tuning a aftermarket amp the right way?

I know everyone raves about Asian vehicles but I hated the Acura TL I recently got rid of after only having it less than a year. It was a pain in the butt to work on because things like the radio were quirky. Making the stock amp work with my aftermarket radio was a pain. The speakers are a weird size. Just removing the rear seat was major task. I hate when people do hack jobs but no way was I gonna cut up the door to put speakers in so I just found some to fit and used the stock baffle the stock speakers are mounted in.

I have that same interior and I hate it lol. Especially my cracked-out dash unfortunately, those dash covers don't look so great and a replacement dash is super expensive. Thanks for the how-to video though.

A re-upload of old video. I asked about this in a live feed one time, and never got an answer. My question was that the amp under the passenger seat is too tall for the "sws" seat weight sensor. There is a plastic box under that seat. Either the seat will not go back, or that amp is only 3/4 of an inch thick.

Would like to do this to an 08 acura tsx with the navigation unit. The screen stopped showing and some of the ac controls are on the screen (fan speed & air direction). Would be a nice upgrade for it.

What specific tweeters where used?

I don’t know much about car audio. But is it common to use the cars factory speaker wire and add a amp to it? Instead of adding your own aftermarket speaker wire.

What happened to the center channel? That amplifier is 5 channels. How does the center channel work? All shortcuts. Everything on the internet is so easy and it works all the time. lol

I really though that as signal goes the Acura head unit was not that bad. Or at least as good as the Alpine.
