I was there squashed up next to a fence by the start/finish line that day! It was the coldest and wettest summers day I've ever been in. We were soaked and you could see your own breath it was that cold!! The only thing that made up for it was being able to see just how insanely talented and amazingly fast they all were to ride like that in those conditions. Truly was incredible to be there and watch first hand. Rossi's comeback was also something else. The wet weather is meant to be a leveller, but he was SO much faster than everyone else
I was between the old hairpin and swantz corner. We did a rain dance on Saturday night because that's the only way the English riders stood a chance. And I'm from the lake district so I had waterproofs I enjoyed every minute of that weekend what I can remember 😂👍
WOW WHAT AN INCREDIBILE RACE! 🤯🤯 Only 11 riders saw the chequered flag and only 8 were unlapped! Riding in those conditions was crazy, all riders are absolute legends! I’m not surprised by the fact that in those tricky conditions the first two riders were the premier class world champions on the grid (Hayden would become world champion the year after this one)
This is probably my most favourite Rossi race & win. I'm 25 years old but if anyone we're to ask me show me why Rossi the the "GOAT" I'd send them this race, followed by Phillip Island 2003 (the race where he gets given a 10sec penalty and still wins 😂) and then Catalunya 2009 Vs Lorenzo.
I was there for this race. The rain was unbelievable! They cancelled the support race after the MotoGP race as there was just too much rain! Rossi was untouchable that day.
@@MMPAspergerian he should have retired 2-3yrs ago & instead he's been piddling about at the back end. When Marc Marquez began his reign it was curtains. Rossi made Moto what it is today. Always looked for his Dayglow leathers, always a cool dude. UK BSB Championship should sign him up for a couple of years. The toughest tracks & competition & better than Moto GP which can get pedestrian - no Rossi as well 2022. Hopefully Marquez can get back to full fitness.
The electronics has already been there mate. Honda introduced the traction control in 2003, and then throttle-by wire and anti wheelie on the next year, and basically most, if not all other makers follow suit pretty quickly

I took my wife to watch this race we were watching it at Coppice corner you can see the bikes sliding sideways through the corner Rossi even took his left hand of the bars and stretched his fingers lol. the weather started sunny when the 125cc race started then it rained so much never seen the weather this bad.
1:03:27 - Previous laps Rossi kept pressuring for the lead by taking the outside line and then forced Barros to defend the outside line and took the inside line and got past him. Wow!!
This is clearly one of the best race from Rossi. Just tell me, at first he did a mistake on a chicane. But how can he did a fastest lap with 2 secs faster than the Top 3 in front of him only a lap after his mistake?? And then, in a lap after he overtake Barros to lead the race, he set another fastest lap with 1.5 - 2 secs faster than anyone on track! What he did on this veerryyyy wet & slippery track was incredible, just crazy!!
Omg its like last 5 years ago, i still remember watch it on my tube television with my dad and eating some chips and drink soda and then i fall asleep so i don't watch it
10 years later Rossi 46 Yamaha won the only Silverstone Circuit British GP in 2015 same wet race Condition only Bridgestone Tire alone after 10 years of Donington Park 2005 Wet Track Race in Michelin Tires
