Everyone wanted that truck when it came out with that redesign. Still looks great today

Wow, I had a 2004 exactly like this. Color, drivetrain, everything. My grandpa had bought it new in 2004, and when I inherited it in 2017, it had just 18k miles. I drove it until early 2020, up to 47k miles. I hated to get rid of it but I needed a vehicle with a back seat. I really liked the truck.

I'm interested in a 1st gen Chevy Colorado. I love the way those things look especially the regular cabs. Canyons are cool too but I just love the look of the bowtie

Love the 2nd generation Ram! The 3rd generation is not bad looking, in my opinion. I still have my 99 Dodge Ram 1500 single cab. Knowing about how the automatic transmissions don't hold up, this one has a 5 speed manual trans. My only complaint is the 3.9 V6, not a big fan of it, but then I only use the truck when I actually need a truck.

The design was revolutionary when it first came out .now.. it’s just showing it’s age and most seem to rust out before the warranty ends with questionable reliability

I own a 2004 Ram 1500. He doesn't mention the MOST common problems; the fact that Dodge used inferior quality plastic and nearly ALL of them have severely cracked or shattered dashes under the windshield. In addition almost ALL of them have a broken A/C - heater diverter panel. This is ALSO due to inferior plastics. It costs over $1,500 to repair this problem, as the entire dash has to be removed. On a different note note, @3:15 and later on @12:51 he tells us to be 'weary' of problems, as such problems make one nervous, (or cautious). I'm sure he meant to say to be either 'leery' or 'wary' of such problems, as 'weary' means a human or animal is tired.

Make regular cab short beds great again. They're sporty but they can also work. I like these trucks but it's rare to see one that isn't some rusty barely holding-together work truck or some lifted brodozer rolling coal.

Love those older Rams... I love the much older ones 2nd Gen ones from 1994-2001ish... Though could never understand pickup trucks (real ones, not sporty versions of trucks) and vans using gas engines instead of diesel. But I always loved both the Ram van from that time and the Ram pickups... Cue the theme from Walker Texas ranger 🙂🙂🙂🙂

Unlike Toyota, the American automakers (Chrysler, GM & Ford) didn't know how to rust proof their cars or trucks. Unfortunately, once rust starts their is nothing you can do to stop it

I remember I took a 2nd Gen in on trade at my dealership, and I could fit my whole forearm through the rust holes… sideways. He was late for picking his new truck and all I could think was it broke down on the way in. Turned out he was still trying to put the factory radio back in when I called him, I told him “throw it on the floor or hell even throw it out the window for all I care it’s going for scrap anyway” LOL

My mom had an '02 1500 4.7 in this color and it was a nice truck. My uncle has an '06 and despite people saying the 4.7 is unreliable, he has over 350k on it and has never done anything to it beyond basic maintenance and simple things like alternator/starter etc. People dont realize that the 5.9 360 MAGNUM was offered in these in '02 before the 5.7 HEMI came out in '02.

1:38 subtract the bigger wheels, and say 500-800lbs and the 4.7 is a quick punching engine. The 4.7 got the hate because Dodge canceled the 360 in 2002/2003 (last year of the Dakota RT as well) so the 4.7 was put in as the V8 until 2005/6 when the Hemi was added. And then people tried to tow up a hill with it. Thus it was underpowered for medium truck duty tasks. As the 4.7 was in the Dakota until it’s end in 2012, it ended up making 310hp in HO configuration. (Or with the earlier 4.7s making way more with a 91 tune, exhaust/headers and the 2008 Intake and HO cam swap)
@markreibson7030
@markreibson7030 Год назад
ummm, yeah. some inaccurate info here. In 2002 you could get either a 5.2 with a stick, or a 5.9 gas with auto. for 2003 a hemi or 4.7 was available. the 4.7 stayed at 235 horse until 2008 with 303-310 horse became available. in 2500 form the engine/trans options became wider. a 5 or 6 speed stick was available with the hemi, and Cummins was an option also.
@brandonsvlog8533
@brandonsvlog8533 9 месяцев назад
The hemi came out in early 2003 when the 360 magnum was cancelled, the 4.7 is perfect for the Dakotas it’s peppy in them but in the rams it’s meh not gutless but not peppy and in the rams it’ll drink gas due to having to downshift on hills a lot. I know this cause I own one

@@brandonsvlog8533 fun fact in 05 the standard engine was the 3.7 with 4.7 and 5.7 optional they all got the same gas mileage. my rcsb 5.7 with 3.92 got 21.5 mpg once. and 20 ish all the time. ran 15.3 in the quarter stock. and as low as 13.83 with bolt ons.
