I know this two years ago but I have 05 Pontiac Grand Prix put a new coolant temperature sensor in and no fans working but I unplugged it fans started working
@@teeybannister I figured it out the engine wasn’t hot enough for the fans to kick on and I’ve never owned a car with an electric fans before so all is good now
Bro man you just saved me I wish I seen your video way before I started doing all these other problem checks I would of been done 3 hours ago 🤣 couldn’t figure out for nothing why my fans wouldn’t come on after checking all relays and fuses running a hot wire to fans making sure motor was still good then I had to Bite the Bullet and ask RU-vid and found you THANKS BRO YOU A LIFESAVER YOU HAVE A NEW Subscriber.
Thanks for the instructions! I followed the steps to determine the AC sensor is good and that the ECT sensor was bad, but after changing the ECT sensor the fans kicked on but after restarting the car now they dont anymore like before. Could the new ECT sensor be bad from the factory?
Beautiful. I have a feeling it’s the CTS for me because (unrelated) I overheated the engine and either it overheating or it sitting for about four years may have made the sensor go wrong. I already have a new sensor that I’m installing when I get to that part of reassembly, I changed the head gaskets.
I got the 2002 grand am se with the 2.2 engine and i replaced the coolant temp sensor and still not tuening on like there supoosed to BUT.. they turn on when i hit the ac button even tho my ac compressor dont work rn the fans still tuen on low mode. What could that be? I ended up getting a code P0840 for Cooling Fan Relay 1 Control Circuit. What could be causing that because the relay fuse is fine and the fans turn on low mode when the ac button is atrive even though the compressor dont work. But they dont turn on when the engine gets hot above 200 like theyre supposed too..
I put new cooler sensor and i tested the wires with a paper clip and came on but still no low or high fans coming on after car gets hot ? Pontiac torrent 2006
HI I have a 01 grand am 3.4L and I've changed the temperature control switch and when I turn on the car the fans run hight for a few seconds and drop down really low so I take it for a spin get the temp up to see if the fans will kick on hight and when I look after the short drive the fans are off and car is over heating. I've checked all the relays and fuses and there all good any suggestions on what could be happening a/c not working also?
My fans will only turn on when I unplug the temp sensor. I've replaced 3 of them so far thinking that maybe they were faulty. I've check fuses etc still nothing. I'm lost. Any help?
One fans the AC the others the radiator. So usually both are not running at the same time. I have seen both run on mine with the AC off put mostly it's the one by the battery that always runs.
Hi there I have the same engine on my 99 Oldsmobile alero. I have replace the thermostat, the temperature sensor and reservoir tank and replays and my fans won't come on. Not even when I turn the a.c. Any advise?
At what temperature are they suppose to kick on i did that text a while ago and the fans roared... i also have a problem with my ac clutch not kickin on
jman lovell The computer will not turn the fans on until 228° then turned them off again around 216° but when the AC clutch is turn on the fans will stay on regardless of the engine temperature. Now to your AC problem what I would do is turn the AC on by a small can 12 ounces put it in if the clutch doesn't turn on then you can had a bad sensor fuse are your ac is out
Thank you and one more question.. would you recommend transmission drain and fill ? I have 250,000(bought at 200,000 and had headgaskets replaced) miles on my car with no prior knowledge of transmission service.. added lucas transmission slip at 220,000 miles just because and transmission has no major driving issues( just a small delay when put in gear.
jman lovell Yes do it asap!!!! The delay 95% of the time is because the filter is old and dirty and the fluid is bad. For get Lucas on this transmission not good at all. Just drop the pan and change it. Your transmission will outlast your engine if you change your filter and fluid trust me. Thank goodness it's not a seal crappy Honda transmission 😬
I replaced the sensor for hot water temp. if i pull the wire cap the fans come on. plug it back in and the fans still work, until I shut the engine off. when i restart it the fans dont work anymore. could it be the ac sensor and if so how do i pull it without loosing ac pressure?
Im trying this cause my fans wont turn on changed water pump and thermostat i let the engine warm up with no ac on and no fan will turn on but once i kick the ac on thats when it will drop the temperature in it will try this coolant temperature sensor and check the relays
Now that I have a temporary fix for my cooling fan radiator fans.. I can work on it and find out the real problem.. side note I've already replaced my thermal sensor..
i have a 2004 pontiac grand prix and my one of my fans doesnt turn on and sometimes it does, i also notice that my ac doesnt work sometimes. sometimes i turn the car on and i have no check engine on and both fans are working perfectly the ac is working perfectly. but sometimes the ac wont turn on the radiator fan wont turn on aswell and my car starts to over heat what could be the problem? the error code says fan relay 1 malfunction but i already replaced the relay and still same problem i am going to replace the coolant temp sensor today and hope that solves the problem
Short to wire. When the car is doing it again I want you to jump the ac by unplugging the ac pressure switch plug and jumping the plug. If the ac and the fan kicks on then try replacing the temp sensor or could be a bad fan
