Great video. Very thorough and explained well. I was a Chrysler tech until 2000 and the shop I was working at , i did them all, nobody wanted to replace the regulator and motor assemblies, you have to pay attention, how it comes apart, they are a pita well done!😊
Although your video was posted a few years ag, I am in the process of replacing the window regulator in my 2006 Caravan. I got a bit lost because I lost track of which way the rails go. Since tey are so difficult to get into place, it was very helpful to watch your knowledge base. So watching your video was a real blessing to figuring out if I have the right hunches to put it back together.
Good video! I took my regulator out from the bottom. I removed the motor mount with a claw hammer. Worked out great. Then I just put it back in reverse.👍
This is the best video (I have watched a few)on replacing the driver's side window regulator & motor replacement. The tip to loosen the hold down screws on the glass and raise it up and tape it worked perfectly. It also helps to slide the motor in on the left hand side to be able to put the bar in. The most troublesome part of the job was getting the clips off as quite a few come off completely with the door panel. The replacement part i got came with a metal bracket complete with screw holes that goes behind the panel. I am still trying to get replacement door panel clips. Thank you very much.
Great how to refresher for me. Been a few years since I've changed a regulator. Drivers side was a bit of a battle, passengers side wasnt as bad. Yes, sadly they were both dying at the same time. Thanks for doing a very good video with really good pictures of what is going on. Extremely helpful.

Just completing this procedure on a 2005 Dodge Caravan. Everything in this video is near identical and could not have done it without this video. Currently the window panel plastic rivets are over $12 each at a bonafide dealer. Cheapest option there is to go online where you can get about 20 for $5.
On my 2003 T&C there was an additional screw on the bottom of the panel. Older models have rubber grommets with steel inserts holding the motor. Just pry these out the front. The regulator on these models uses spring clips to hold the window to the regulator. The white clips if used are 1/2 inch in dia. Slide a 1/2 I’d washer over them from the back to release the tangs if equipped. Angling the regulator tracks in at the tops towards the center of the door seems to work well, then swing the bottoms in. You can remove the door handle leaving the rod attached if you prefer. The inner horizontal window seal can be pried up and off if you want to remove the window.
I just finished replacing my window regulator and motor on my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravab. I looked for the lower screw on the door panel and although there was an indentation on the plastic there was no screw or screw hole close. I ended up drilling a hole and using a sheet metal screw. I ended up drilling out the three white plastic clips.
I just did this job and wanted to say, it was very easy using wire cutters to reach inside the door and clip the point off the three white plastic mounting pins, and then they fell right out. Also, once the pins are out, there was no need to chisel the round white holders off, if you look closely there are two rectangular tabs on each one, I used a small flat head screwdriver, and you just bend those tabs in towards the center hole and they snap right off, and then the piece just fell right off of the door! Another thing is don't tighten the four mounting bolts for the rails (keep them about a 1/2 turn lose) until you have tightened the clamping units onto the window, other wise it can bind. Thanks.
Just did a motor replacement on a 2005 Kia Sorento Driver's side. What a piece of cake compared to what I am seeing here. Am needing to do it on a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. Hoping just the motor as I have to do it in a drive way not a garage. Very good video here!
Now completely done with window motor and regulator on 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. If you haven't the time to order new panel retainers online. All the major auto stores carry a rack of them. I used Dorman part#963-221D and they worked well. I even removed the panel again without breaking them. The factory retainers are $12 each. So by comparison these are cheap.
Great video. Every year seems to be a little different. My 2006 Dodge Caravan is an example. The original 3 bolts with the plastic sleeve had to come off, they weren't long enough for the new motor. But when I knocked off the plastic insert, then the hole was too big, so i used fender washers on the back side. One thing that I did which was easier for me was to use plastic shims[the kind you use to plum a door or window] to hold my window up/ Worked great. one hour.

The regulators rarely malfunction. The motors fail frequently. It is very easy to replace only the motor. Just insure that you slide the regulator completely off the motor before snapping the pins off.
On my cars I've had regulators bend, cables break, bolts come loose, and plastic pieces crack. I've also had motors fail. Seems now days the regulators with the motor are cheap enough I just figure I'll replace everything.
If you did it again right after you completed it you could do it in 20 minutes, but to do it slow and step by step, and learn a bit on the way could take 90 minutes, so set aside 2 hours.
I replaced this assembly about two years and the window is acting erratically again. Can I simply replace the motor or do I need to buy a new assembly?
Hey Jim, where did the bolts come from that you used to mount the motor regulator assembly, instead of the Rivet. I bought a motor from Rock Auto for a 2007 Caravan, but it did not include the mounting hardware. Dodge says hardware is no longer available. Rock Auto tells me to suck it, since mounting hardware is not listed. Do I just use bolts with fat washer on door frame side, with the nuts on the motor / regulator side.
Ya, it should have come with the hardware (bolts, nuts, washers), but you could use bolts from the hardware store. If using hardware store bolts, just make sure they are not so long that they stick out and hit the window. I recently got shorted the bolt for a muffler strap, it happens and sometimes it's not worth complaining about.
Guess I'm lost. If your able to plug the switch back in and move the window up and down, why are you even replacing it? Came here looking for how to get the vertical tracks out and the new ones back in. "Just keep wiggling" Hmmm
Often the motor gets weak and moves slow, or moves a bit then stops. Sometimes if you wait a bit the motor will move again (i.e. the motor is bad, but not completely broke). Sometimes you have to pull (or push) on the window to get it to move. Sometimes on Amazon a two pack (Left/Right) with new motors & Regulators is not much more than a single side.
@@jimdandy6472 That's exactly what happened to my Dodge GC. The window would work most of the time and not work at some critical time like when you lower the window to get a ticket from a dispenser and then the window does not go down and it is cold outside.
I'm not sure why you would want to buy new plastic white pins when the new regulator should come with new metal bolts. Nothing special about the bolts, so you could find some that would work at a hardware store. Maybe you removed and fixed and are trying to reinstall? The white pins look pretty specialized, so likely only the dealer could get replacements and probably at 10 times the cost of hardware store bolts. If you buy the bolts, just make sure they are not too long, or are cut to length, so they don't hit anything on the inside.
