A car you buy with your head and not your ego.

Just depends on your needs, and what the car will be used for. There is nothing wrong with buying a higher class car if it works for you practically and financially.

I've just bought a 2005 automatic Corolla here in England. Here's why I think it's a great car: 1) I paid cash, therefore no monthly repayments. 2) It's smooth and relaxing to drive. This has improved my behaviour on the road. I no longer rush. 3) It doesn't attract the attention of the police. 4) Car thieves aren't interested. 5) It's anonymous. People with big egos aren't challenged or threatened by me. 6) People let me out into traffic. 7) Parts are relatively cheap. 8) The build quality is superb. It feels like a tank. 9) The dashboard and instrumentation is simple and easy to see and use. 10) It's a Toyota.

For a while, i hated having a 2003 Corolla CE, because all the other college students have nicer and newer cars. As I've grown to understand the value of having a car, and the durability of Toyota, I have learned to become very grateful for it.

An Altis verision (a luxury version of a Corolla) would make more people want a Corolla but it seem like American market want people to only have a basic Corolla only. Really unfair when people in Asia get access to luxury car very cheaply and not have to go to Lexus to experience one

These little cars are immortal. Mine's got 320,000 miles on it and is in great condition mechanically with nothing more than regular maintenance. Last year I calculated my highway mpg is still 34 which is great considering the rated mpg is 35. The interior holds up really well too. There's a reason you still see this model everywhere after 20 years.

I own an 05 LE model. I can say this car will last forever. I am not a nice owner I will push the car, speed over potholes, occasionally scratch or kink the car. I don’t always keep maintenance 100% up to date. I ran off the road on a bad weather day into a ditch I honestly thought I totalled my car… nope, only thing I lost in the process was a hubcap. I’ve driven a new 2023 Corolla. I can say the new ones are not as comfortable, I went on a couple road trips in my 05 Corolla and I was never too uncomfortable. The new ones seats felt very stiff and rough. But I actually do love the new ones. The tech and features were amazing, they felt a little more responsive in my opinion, they were definitely a little faster. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the CVT but I also didn’t hate it as much as I thought I would. As a cheap, starter or daily car. The 05 Corolla is amazing. If you want to spend more then go ahead and get a newer one!!

These are great cars! The first car I bought was a brand new silver 2006 Corolla S back in 2005. I had to eventually sell it over five years later cause I needed a bigger car with more space. I still see these everywhere which doesn't surprise me one bit. I've since purchased mostly Toyota/Lexus vehicles all with no problems as expected.

Drove an 05 S. Initial throttle tip in really does provide a lot more power than youd expect. Though I realized after going wot it didnt have much more in it lol. Was deceptive because you get like 90% of the power in the first 10% throttle.

I'm 6'3", 228 lbs. and not an athlete by any means. I must need to lose some fat because I found the steering wheel in this gen to be too low for comfort. Otherwise, I found the 2005 Corolla to be comfortable, peppy, and hardly bogs down at all from extra passengers. Much better quality than a 2015 Kia Soul base. I found the 2015 Kia Soul to be the most ergonomic "economy" car for my height/weight unfortunately. 263k miles on my car though. May not be as good as a Toyota but fairly close I suppose. If only I could get this Toyota transmission in my car. That's the downfall of my car. The 2015 Kia Soul has a Mitsubishi/Dodge (joint venture) made transmission which hesitates between 4th to 5th and sometimes 5th to 6th. Kia does their transmissions pretty well, so unsure why they took a transmission from the Dodge Dart. Eek.

@@DMCarReviews I still drive my 2005 corolla everyday with only regular oil changes, batteries, brakes and tires being replaced. She still runs and drives like the day I bought it off the showroom floor. If you don't beat the car, she will continue giving you stress free performance for years to come. Some people label Toyota as boring. I laugh. Overall, the best vehicle I ever owned, bar none. No major breakdowns or costly repair shop surprises, even as an old car. To me, that is incredible.
