@@Mojo27564 Yes, you need to rejet these models after doing any mods to the intake or exhaust. they are set ultra lean from the factory to pass emissions.
I did this to my '04 VTX. Although it did sound better at idle, it got raspy going thru the gears. Not the deep rumble I like. It was better but not the sound I liked.
Did you use a one and three-quarter inch whole saw to do this? If so did you have to drill through one sheet of steel or was there a second one behind the first?
Cut the end off and then ground all the spot welds off of the inner chamber walls, knocked them out with a hammer and bar the filled the holes with weld to close it back off
Removed all of the chrome heat shielding and had to grind all of the spot welds for every section, there were 3 different plates per muffler. Then filled in the holes that were left with weld and ground smooth.
@@davidmcdaniel667 My muffler has the angled ends. I took the tail chrome cover off and, it's just a solid piece. The exhaust outlet comes through a slash-cut wall. It's not flat like all the videos I see with the Clayton Mod.
@@GhostRider_5903I would have to see a pick to know what your talking about. I had to remove the tips from my pipes too. They were just held on by a couple welds. One the tips are removed I believe the shields were all held on by hose clamps
How did you get the inner baffle out i cut the welds to remove the endcaps and cut the outer one off but the inside part is still there and there is no punching it out its spot welded to the walls
@jonathanolmo7483 I work a full time job and work on motorcycles in my community and starting to do youtube vides sill working on getting a computer to do all the video editing I have a friend that dose it for me at the time being I will eventually have audio blogs on my videos at the moment it's just music playing through my videos of group rides
@jonathanolmo7483 there is no real way to remove on the vtx even after you remove the end cap that is spot welded on the baffle has a internal weld that you can't get to and cutting the end cap off makes it sound like shit I just eventually bit the bullet and bought a set of Cobra pipes
you just lost hella back pressure and the love from the neighbors lol. but tbh, it sounds like a drowning chicken, i know cuz i did that to my shadow too
You will need to rejet after this mod. All that's needed it one washer under the needle and adjust the air mixture screw to get it to run perfect. Sounds better than any after market Vance & Hines or Cobra exhaust and doesn't piss off the neighbors. Just a nice low rumble.
Stage one shold do the trick, which it is designed to do, however, I used my stock needle with one washer under it, so you don't need and after market needle at all. Secondly, I just ordered a longer version of my stock air screw (there are loads of them out there that will work) and added an extention to it so it hangs down under the air cleaner. That way I can adjust the mixture at any time. It's very simple. I figured I could save a few bucks and find the right needle and make an extention for it (not rocker science) and the washer idea has been around for years, so I figured Id give it a try and it works!
@@spanky522 Thanks for the reply! I found the forum at www.vtxcafe.com/threads/vtx-1300-carburetor-adjustment.1914/#post-11241 On how to do it. Should I still upgrade the Jets if, I add a K&N filter to stock box and Cobra Dragsters exhaust?
