LegoGuy87 I don’t get this in rainbows hype. Yeah, the album is great, but come on, it’s one of their most conventional and low-risk album, although have to admit that the distribution system was a pretty daring idea. A moon shaped pool could really be their opus magnum (or even hail to the thief). Personally, Kid A will always be my favorite album due to emotional connection and the events that this album helped me through

I think Nude, Exit Music and How to Disappear have the most haunting, harrowing quality of their songs. Street Spirit is brilliantly, abysmally dark, but then strangely hopeful in the final line. ***** I agree, I've always thought he was rather humble. I just feel that, in general, Thom is uncomfortable in social settings, and therefore, may come off as pretentious or self-absorbed. I think that is the case with a lot of extremely intelligent people. The more interviews I watch of him, the less I understand him. It's not easy to talk on camera by all means but he's so orally incoherent. Going on tangents, not really answering the questions..and yet I find it fascinating how amazing he can convey feelings and meaning so acutely through his music.
@brendantaylor3570
@brendantaylor3570 8 лет назад
+Reuben Walker It's funny, I was going to say the opposite. I understand exactly where he's coming from. Thom is an intuitive person and his awareness of bullshit (including his own) is rather acute. I think he feels out a situation (or a person, interviewer) so his reactions vary depending on his environment, mood and who he is talking to. It's refreshing to see a "frontman" who is not rehearsed for a camera, who values honesty and not his legacy. I completely relate to what he said about music being a form of coping ("gets him through the next day") and I think this deepens the meaning of his own music. There is a beautiful, profound weight behind art that serves as therapy for people as opposed to those who make art for just aesthetic purposes. You know it when you see it.

Yea once I was playing around on the guitar in my living room after school and I acidentally wrote the first few bars of electioneering by Radiohead. At the time I had only heard the song a few times on the radio or at the mall, never intentionally listened to it anyway. So when I hit the first few notes of the song, which are just standard g minor penatonic scale, i just kept going thinking that the melody was coming from my head. So I kept playing till I ended up finishing the song and after a while I ended up recording it. I put it out on RU-vid and decided to name the song ‘Somewhere over the rainbow 2’. The video got over 30 views on the internet and so Walt Disney signed me a record deal with them. I played ‘somewhere over the rainbow 2’ at a my first concert in Down Under Australia. Among all the head-banging kangaroos I see Jonny Greenwood, Radiohead guitarist, who by the way is even sexier in person. He looked angry. At this point in time I realised that the song hadn’t come from my head and I had actually ripped of Radiohead. So at the sight of Jonny boy i darted for the exit. But just as I got there he cornered and BOOM he cracked me over the head and I was out like a light. I woke up tied to a chair, disorientated, in what looked like a massive where house. In the corner I see Jonny sharpening what looked a large collection of weapons. After a while of thick silence he slowly walked towards me with dagger the size of his of a guitar. He said only to words, ‘My song’ He started to press the dagger into my cheek, drawing drops of blood. I screamed hard into my sodden gag. Screamed harder and harder hoping someone would receive my cry of hope. But I had little hope, at least until I heard a cry. The high pitched girly voice of Thom Yorke. My prayers had been answered. He ran forward, covered my ears, and let out an almighty wail. Johnny was brought to his knees. Thom Yorke had saved. He said that I was 2.40x better than Jonny anyway so now I play as Radiohead’s guitarist but in disguise as Jonny greenwood. True story. I know no one will believe me because it’s a very crazy story but it is true. Kangaroos do exist.

throughout history, the greatest music induces a temporary state of enlightenment, where we experience both the fullness and emptiness of everything all at once, the two co-existing in seeming contradiction in human language, but in complete harmony at a higher level of consciousness. How to Disappear Completely is one of perhaps a couple of dozen pieces of music that does that for me. Allegri's Miserere is another - go check it out if you don't know it already.

Thom Yorke wouldn't have been a welcome guest in my place if he didn't do "Kid A / Amnesiac" which is one of the greatest albums I ever heard particularly "Idioteque" and his solo work "The Eraser" which is absolutely stunning.

The best they've ever done was The King of Limbs Live From the Basement. That was aggresive and cool and stripped down and they had to correct their CD versions who now sound half cooked. My fave album of them and I am a fan and love all they do.

3:34 and following... Asked about possibly influencing people. “I think people are perfectly capable of making their own decisions.. and God help ‘em if they need to listen to me.” The difference between Thom Yorke and Bono in a nutshell. Thom puts his ideas and concerns out there but doesn’t push you or try to shame you into following him whatsoever. It has to be your well considered choice... on your own. I saw U2 five times and was huge into them and I get it... Before most people did. But the endless preaching and lecturing by Bono has become burdensome to me especially from 1986 onward... “This is a song Charlie Manson stole from The Beatles... and we’re stealing it back.” What level of hubris and self absorption could bring someone to such a claim? I grew up in the 60s and 70s and a bit in the 80s and we knew about Charlie Manson but we knew that was some crazy guy off his nut... Never did I or any of my friends say or think 🤔 Gee, I hope someone comes along with a shitty cover of Helter Skelter to get it back from Charlie Manson and to return it safely to The Beatles 🤔.It’s really quite moronic when you think about it. Thank you Thom Yorke for not kissing ass.

He is very articulate, very smart and same time you can tell he is very humble. He has a massive influence with the music he writes/compose yet he honestly thinks people should not take his work or what he says seriously becuase he trust the induvidual more. The music and the induvidual fan experience is bigger than him or the band.

old interview, and i'd wonder if he's changed his mind. but musicians surely have more influence on wider society than thom acknowledges. the whole point of artistry is articulation, and he does a job few others can do for the emotions and experiences of his listeners

the song ,"On your razor" can't find the song. Is that what she said or is that lyrics to a song and which song would it be?
@user-hq5ff6he2r
@user-hq5ff6he2r 6 лет назад
Sorry I'm late to reply. She said "the lyrics on The Eraser" not on your razer. The Eraser is Thom's debut soloist album. The specific song they were talking about at the time she said that was Harrowdown Hill. It played in the background at the point.
