You realize there is WAY more dirty oil inside of the engine than on the oil filter o-ring. It is not going to harm anything.

You can find the recommended oil for it online by searching I can't remember the brand but I do remember it's a full synthetic

You should reference your owner's manual for the proper oil weight.

I always check the oil filter and the oil filter housing to make sure the oil filter seal has come off.

@HomeOwnerRepair I think he meant why didn't you fill it up with oil before replacing it so there isn't a air pocket and no time period where no oil is circulating while it's filling the filter up during it running

Lol, I've never traveled any farther east than Lake Erie and it took me all of one second to spot that textbook-hard NE accent that hits my ears in way I can only abstract out as being like a piano crashing in to a brick wall at 200mph, but also somehow creating a lovely melody as a result, hahaha
