8th gen civic, upstream located on top of catalytic converter.
Check engine light is on, Code reads as follow:
O2 sensor A/F (air and fuel)
P0420 ( possible catalytic converter )
P2A00
P1172
If you performed the O2 change and after driving for less than 10mins and light still comes on, more than likely you would need to replace the catalytic converter itself, or test for voltage on the wiring harness to which the sensor is connected to, and test the O2 sensor for resistance.
Tools neede:
22mm (7/8) O2 socket
3/8 Breaker bar or pipe
3/8 torque wrench
10mm socket
6mm socket
Small Phillips screwdriver
Anti-Seize lubricant
Torque O2 sensor to 33ft-lbs

I just replaced the same upstream sensor on my 2011 cr-z and now it’s throwing these exact codes, the sensor was not denso and bit cheaper one, someone on forums was saying the cheaper ones don’t throw enough voltage? Is that true? Do I have to bite the bullet and can’t the $200 sensor? Thanks

So I originally got a cheap sensor from Amazon and it still threw a code after 2-3mins of driving, then I bought another one from advance auto, it was like $150 or so, when I tested both O2 sensor for resistance, they both have the same resistance, but after installing the advanced auto O2 sensor, code cleared and never came back, so that might be the case, don’t take me on it, but O2 has to heat up to 600 degree or do for it to send voltage to the ecu if that makes sense, if there isn’t enough, the ecu is not able to detect the O2 sensor giving the fault code.
