It would be nice if you showed how to use the scan tool on live data to see how your scanner works on trouble shooting codes. Even though you got code p0420 the scan tool recommends you change the catalytic converter. Showing the graphing would be more educational than just replacing sensors.
I have a question. How do i remove this sensor if it's completely stripped i had to cut the wires. Now i have no connection for the 02 sensor bank 1. Please any advice would be amazing ??????
Are both the O2 sensors the same? Does it matter to get a different upstream and downstream sensor which is often a hundred dollar difference or is it okay to use the same make for both.
thanks Blue driver, by the way i have a query on my civic 2006 with P0135 code, i have already replaced the both O2 sensors but still the code is present. what seems to be the problem?
@@luiszidane2966 A 4-cylinder car only has one bank, so its a Pre-cat or Post-cat sensor (sometimes it's A or B)🤔[Sensor 1, Pre-cat, Sensor A]= All the same thing.
just replaced my catalytic converter because the downstream 02 sensor was welded on. new cat, new 02 sensors but I still have the CEL. do you know if I have to drive it a certain amount of miles before it resets? 09 1.9 CIVIC
Hi, I have the bluedriver and its great for data. My problem is I cant get either of the o2 sensors removed or even loosened! I bought a 22mm sensor socket for the job, but it just slips off the hex-nut part of the sensor. Have tried letting engine heat up and cool and neither allows the sensor to budge... WD40 did nothing.... Any suggestions as to how to loosen these sensors ? (im just glad i didnt cut any wires off before attempting all this lol....
O2 sensors do a lot to monitor the health of your motor and keep it running as it should. It would be highly recommend to replace these with OEM replacements if there is any issue!
My car very bad fuel average, I have changed spark plugs and coils, but still same. Last day I have checked with computer and it show that airflow sensor and silenser sensor is not working properly, Is this the reason not good mileage?
Does anyone else have P0420. Happened to me 300 miles from home. It’s always a bad feeling when the orange light of damnation turns on, but it’s worse when your far away on vacation in the middle of a hot California desert.
Hey we did find these possible causes, hopefully it helps! A code P0420 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Leaded fuel was used where unleaded was called for (unlikely) A damaged or failed oxygen / O2 sensor Downstream oxygen sensor (HO2S) wiring damaged or connected improperly The engine coolant temperature sensor is not working properly Damaged or leaking exhaust manifold / catalytic converter / muffler / exhaust pipe Failed or underperforming catalytic converter (likely) Retarded spark timing The oxygen sensors in front and behind the converter are reporting too similar of readings Leaking fuel injector or high fuel pressure Cylinder misfire Oil contamination Copyright OBD-Codes.com
It's possible yes, but without being able to see the car we wouldn't confirm that. Checking your Mode 6 may be a good idea if there is any issues with the idle/running of the engine.
Very simple job, the lower sensor was also easy but what took me a long whilenwas removing the wire bracket, turns out i was pulling it the wrong way. If you buy the sensors from honda, the parts already have anti seize
I'm getting hesitation and the herky jerky, no codes, I've replaced the plugs, the air filter and cleaned the MAF sensor... would O2 sensor replacement be next logical step? I tried to get at the throttle body to clean it up but its wayyy under the windscreen and a pain to reach. Thoughts???
If it's that bad there should be some sort of code - it couldn't be something like a slipping transmission could it? If not maybe have a look at your O2 sensor data - there's a great guide at www.walkerproducts.com/o2-sensor-training-guide/introduction/
Yep - there's actually a TSB for this code - see if you can hunt down Honda 07-006 or NHTSA 10040405 - they primarily call for an ECM software update, and O2 sensor replacement if necessary
