As much hype as the current and most recent Buckeye WRs, that 2005 room had 3 first rounders. A couple plays and that team would’ve played USC for the national title instead of Texas. USC barely escaped The Irish. In this game Ohio State nearly ran the Irish off the field.
I’ve always felt the 05 team was a better team than the 06 team. This team had a better defense than 06 with Carpenter,Hawk, and Whitner. All first round picks. The offense was as good maybe a little better. The three receivers Ginn,Gonzalez, and Holmes all first round picks as well. Not to mention they may have been a little better on the offense line with Sims and Mangold. They lost two games by a combined 10 points. They lost by three to Texas who won the Natty and to one of the best Penn State teams ever on there field by seven points. They finished 11-1 that year and number three in the final polls.
I completely agree with you. To be honest, this may sound crazy, but something tells me it may have been just as epic of an National Championship Game vs USC. Ginn vs Bush, Linehart vs Smith, what a game that could have been. USC was amazing back then and that ‘05 Buckeye team had the roster to hang with them and could have beat them.
I want to throw up when I hear “celebration penalty” - this is part of the ‘everyone gets a trophy’ mentality!!! My goodness don’t celebrate and hurt the opponents feelings 🤣🤣🤣
Andy Gygi Why, because you accomplished something and it hurt the other guys feelings? Here does it stop? It’d be different if he got in the guys face or something! We’re just making a weak pathetic snowflake society!!!
GO BUCKS !!! yes he did Teddy was the man for us !!! Checkout my youtube channel show BUCKEYE VINNIE, please watch my videos and subscribe to my channel thanks.
You could take clips of this game, the '95 and '96 regular season games, and the 2016 game between these two teams and they would all look the same. Ohio State runs Notre Dame ragged every time.
@@cincinnaticobra5477 That's true, but as I understand the ND Athletic Department's public release statement, they said they'd lose money if they joined the Big Ten. But Nonpeon's comment was about the quality of Big Ten opponents (like Ohio State). Historically, ND has held their own against Big Ten opponents, but lately, the conference has done well against ND.
@@umbrella0326 his comment was insinuating they're scared of the competition, which is absurd since they schedule them every year. they'd lose money joining a conference. also they love the weekly NBC game as opposed to putting half their schedule on the bigten network, and they schedule nationally for coast to coast exposure -which is huge marketing for a little catholic school in the midwest. they can and do schedule bigten games whenever they want, along with anyone else they choose.
@@cincinnaticobra5477 True. Notre Dame is happy with their NBC deal and they should be. It's a sweet deal! They've been in it for over twenty years now and the AD is very flush with cash. Good for them. And ND correct me if I'm wrong, but ND and the Big Ten has been pretty even in recent years. OSU has just been very, very good in recent years and, well, we fans can get a little...braggy. And we shouldn't.
Ohio State had 5 players that were drafted in the first round in the NFL Draft that spring: AJ Hawk went to The Packers, Bobby Carpenter to the Cowboys, Donte Whitner to the Bills, Santonio Holmes to the Steelers, and Nick Mangold to the Jets. Four of those picks played in this game. Ohio State offense was like a video game here big play after big play and if it weren't for the turnovers, the score would've probably been more lopsided.
Ok...ummm..because a 9-2 Ohio st. Who played and should have beat Texas. Also played Penn st., Wisconsin, ichigan, a top 25 Iowa and everyone else. A 10 -1 Oregon who played who??? USC. And.......no one...I think that Ohio state doesnt have to prove anything to Oregon...see the 08 Rose bowl and the 14 national championship. Which we beat Oregon both times. Yes Oregon was good ..if anything it should have been Ohio st. V Oregon. Not Notre dame. Oregon was probably better than Notre dame.
OSU won the B10 and the At Large WITH Penn State so there was no way Oregon was getting it, and ND if it has a good record will always and i mean ALWAYS get a January Bowl.
Wow , Ohio St. out gained us 617 yards to 348 in this game. Luckily , the Buckeyes fumbled 3 times and missed 2 field goals in this game or this would have been a total blow out. Bummer. GO IRISH !!!💯🍀🍀🍀
Ya Notre Dame has a good team that year. There secondary had a hard time with Ginn and Santonio Holmes a future Super bowl MVP. Also Anthony Gonzales who played in the NFL for several years as well. One of the best WR groups ever on any team.
Yeah right, why do the SEC pansies refuse to travel up to the B1G ? Afraid of the cold/snow. We have traveled down your way & won 🏆 Your to soft to play outside of your comfort zone
