In this video we show you the location and how to remove the ECM (engine control module) PCM (powertrain control module) or also know as ECU (electronic control unit) on Honda Accord from years 2003-2007.
I *believe* the programming, when buying another used/new ECM of the *exact* part number, is basically making sure the bought ECM module has the same EEPROM car configuration data. An EEPROM is basically a chip with a small size of flash storage, e.g., the kind of storage like the SD card. It is not that hard to program these EEPROM chips , once you have identified them on the board. Microchips typically have part numbers on the surface. Then Google for the datasheet for the EEPROM chips. These small size EEPROM chips typically have 8 pins. There are TWO ways to program the EEPROM chips: 1) De-solder the EEPROM chips from the OLD ECM module. De-solder the EEPROM chips from the other ECM module, the one you bought. Now solder the EEPROM chips from the OLD ECM module onto the bought EMC module. Make sure not to mix these EEPROM chips, as well pins #1 of the EEPROM chips lined up onto the ECM board correctly. *If electronics is your hobby, this is EXTREMELY easy* . 2) The hard way: Read the data from the EEPROM chips of the OLD/broken ECM module using an Arduino with very basic programming, that is, writing a simple reading and writing piece of code on the Arduino. You can also get an old EEPROM reader/writer programmer off eBay. Make the one you buy supports the EEPROM chips, though, via part numbers. After you have read the data, use the same programmer to write the data to the EEPROM chips of the other ECM board you bought. This whole step would probably require you to desolder all the EEPROM chips as described in step 1 above. Again, if electronics is your hobby, the above is a piece of cake! Also, make sure the ECM board you put back into your car have new capacitors. Replace them as well. Easy! Capacitors of 20+ years on the ECM module can leak over time or look bulging on the top, thus imminent leaking.
So did it fix your problems? I’m thinking I need this done as I have a bad ground for my A/C circuit, checked everything out pressure switches, evap temp switches, etc etc. Hopefully this company was solid?
Removing and reinstalling the PCM ECU is not that difficult the problem you're going to run to is a has to be programmed to immobilize your system so unless you have the proper scan tools you're not going to be able to do that part and the car won't start
That is correct the only way you can get away without programming it is to send it out and get it repaired or you’d have to buy the computer with the immobilizer ignition switch and key.
Yes that’s the one. It does have to be programmed to the vehicle unless you can desolder the eeprom chip from your old one and transfer it on to the new one.
@@acetechauto7 thanks I really appreciate it. I feel i need to do this because my doors will not lock from my key fob or from the button on my autolock switchs on the front doors. My key doesn't even unlock the driver door. Previous owner added a remote starter , thinking that messed things up, idk.
