Thank you all the comments! It is the power steering fluid. I checked the fluid and I found it is actually low. Then I added it. Now the whining noise disappeared!
I don't speak English but I'll try. And I know that many years have passed! 🫢. but I know that someone who passes by here can use it. My car had the same problem, it sounded horrible, and I didn't have a trusted mechanic since being a woman makes me feel uncomfortable going anywhere alone. so when it sounded too much I checked and the problem was so simple, it lacked POWER STEERING FLUID! almost nothing was going. and already the rudder after a while becomes hard. I hope it helps someone!
Could be the idle or idler pulley. For me it turned out to be the idler, but I changed both and the belt. I purchased the parts OEM from majestic honda. If you want to save money, just purchase the two pulley's and belt-if it looks worn, and you can reuse the bolt and flange's. Without shipping you may pay around 50. RU-vid some video's and you'll see how easy it is to do! My fiance and I both have Si's and we just changed them...real easy :)
Wow! You just prevented me from getting a headache (along with a NEW car!). My 'Honda car was making the SAME sound and I had the SAME problem. Who would have thought that it would be the power steering fluid! Thanks so much!
This happened to my Honda Civic 2008 LX as well. The issue was due to low power steering fluid. Topped up the power steering fluid and the issue disappeared.
Bearing inside tensioner pulley. Can carefully remove pulley from tensioner assembly on car with allen key (SAE 1/4 I think Fits). Have to lift engine by lower motor mount about 3" for clearance to remove (ac or brake line in the way).
Your power steering pump is cavitating due to air in line because of low fluid. Top up fluid , start car (leave it in park), and turn steering right to left a couple times to get the air out. After that you shoud be good to go.
