Honda Civic Idle fluctuates, surges, stalls, Idle Relearn 

I followed your procedures for replacing transmission external oil filter, cleaning throttle body, and idle relearn on my wife’s 2011 Civic EXL-Navi Coupe. It was real easy and the car runs great now. Thanks so much for posting these videos.

my Honda Civic fd drops 600rpm when I turn AC on but returns 800 rpm after.is that normal? Thanks

Thx Danny, at the end the ac, the shifting worked and the idle stayed around 600-700 rpm.

Greetings from Romania. I have a honda civic 8, FK1, 1.4i, 99 HP, and it's work. I fix my idle start. Befor when i start engine my rpm rise abouve 2000+ rpm. Now is 1500 cold start. Thank you, and I'm sorry for my english.👍

My experience about radio code for Honda. i just call for local Honda dealer, they asked my CRV VIN Number, when lady checked online , she told me radio code... NO Charge ... I live in Canada. Thank You Danny for teach Honda maintenance !!!!!!!!!!!

I did this and my idle is exactly at 1000 I did it twice and can’t get it to come back down to where it was

I have a 1.6 i-dtec... what's the correct rpm to hold it at. Redline is around 5000 rpm

Wheeeee! My Accord idles smoothly again! I did not bother cleaning the throttle body or anything but I probably should. I don't have to turn off the AC when idling anymore!

Any idea or solution for my problem, when engine is in idel by turn off the AC the engine power is doing down and Comes back to idle.

Hey Danny, could you tell me what kind of average fuel mileage you’re getting on your car? I just picked up a used 2009 mileage I’ve been averaging 26 miles per gallon or so mixed highway driving I thought I’d be getting closer to 29 or 30 MPG. A little disappointed by this, is this Norm? I’ve changed, spark plugs, air cleaner, oil, transmission fluid, etc. going to do the MAF sensor next. Anything else I should be checking?

I followed your steps exactly however when I turned the car on it revs constantly up and down around 2000 rpm and the check engine light is on. Pulling codes show P0123 and P0223. High voltage to the sensors. What could have caused this and what do you suggest? Just do relearn?

I have a question in my 2007 civic fd manual. My idle normal rpm is 800, and when I sped up like 40mph then putted the gear into neutral, my rom stays at 1.4k stable until I fully stop. I’m on neutral and I’m not stepping up the gas but my idle stays at 1.4k while the car is moving. And also, then I let go of the gas, my rpm goes up first like around 2k rpm before it goes down to 800rpm. What should I do?

I assume it’s the same procedure for a manual transmission?

I replaced the alternator on a 08 honda oddysey and now it has all the warning lights on and wont go past 3000 rpm. It sat for 2 months before i could get an alternator also. Do i need to do this or do i have another issue. I also replaced the vvt solenoid since that was the initial problem leaking onto the alternator. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

My 2010 civic won't idle. Starts everything runs about 5 seconds dies. If I give it gas it runs but sounds like it's backfiring. I ran it at 3k for 2 cycles of fan and it just died when I went to idle? Please help

Hi Danny. Thanks for the video post. My 2008 Civic GX only idles poorly in the morning, and when it is below 70 or so degrees. I have to let it idle for 5-7 minutes and it sputters, which can be heard at the exhaust pipe. I then have to shut the car off and start it again. The sputter stops and I can drive the car. The check engine light flashes when I first start it. If I don't warm it up, the engine rpm won't go past 1500 rpm and its impossible to drive the car. It also throws the 302 misfire code for the number 2 cylinder. Will this reset help or is there something else that is causing the problem that you can suggest a repair for?
