Man I feel your pain. I've been a mobile mechanic since getting out of the Marines in 1999. We work in some of the most dangerous and uncomfortable places ever! Maybe when I retire I'll build a nice shop and have people start coming to me lol!
I just want to say congratulations. You did this on the side of the highway as I sit here in a parking lot waiting to dash over to harbor freight tools parking lot to do it in. The only thing I'm lacking is the electric ratchet hopefully that's not too much of a issue :-/
I just did this job and you do not have to remove the cooling fan . It does squeeze through if you wiggle it and remove the idler pulley. I guess if you are not comfortable with squeeze you could just remove the AC line mine and I have a little more room and that should make things pretty easy.. But kudos to a guy who does all this work on the side of the road at least on the side of a highway
Hey mon you don't have to remove anything to get the alt out.. just unscrew that rubber and metal AC pipe on the left hand side of the engine bay and push it aside. That will free up enough room to wrestle the alt up and out.
