Toyota Yaris Big Brake Kit Upgrade Project Slowcart
In this video I show how I upgraded my stock brakes on my 2007 Toyota Yaris with OEM Toyota parts to make an OEM Big Brake Kit (BBK). This big brake kit consists of a few different OEM Toyota parts from different models that will ending up giving the Yaris bigger calipers, brake pads, and rotors for better stopping power.
Parts List:
-(2) 2014 Yaris SE front rotors: OEM Part #43512-52130. I used the OEM part number to find what aftermarket cheaper options there were and went with those since rotors are a wearable part.
-2009-2019 Corolla or 2008-2014 xD Caliper RH: 47730-12A10.
-2009-2019 Corolla or 2008-2014 xD Caliper LH: 47750-12A10
Again, use these part numbers to see what aftermarket deals you can find. Search Rockauto and eBay to find the best deals!
-Hawk pads part #HB627 Z.690 - made for Scion xB/xD & 09-13 Toyota Corolla
-Stoptech Braided Stainless Steel Brake Lines Part # 950.44012
-Brake fluid

I'm doing this to my yaris soon. I tow alot and the replacement pads and rotors I got over the winter fade quickly. It nice to see another person giving the yaris a chance.

Im so glad i flund this video man, these cars have such tiny brakes. Ive insralled the powerstop kit with the slotted rotors and carbon fiber/ ceramic pads and its still just not enough IMO. Have you ran into any issues with this upgrade and or have you seen / felt justified improvement to braking performance? ( i subbed and liked for ya)
@TheInteriorAutoMechanic
@TheInteriorAutoMechanic 9 месяцев назад
Thank you very much for the sub and like! As far as the brakes go so far I have had zero issues out of my upgrade to the Corolla setup. The only real issue I can say would be the stoptech brake lines are a little too short. They work perfectly fine but the mounting brackets do not line up. Going forward I may try Corolla stoptech brake lines and see if they are longer. Overall though I'm extremely happy with the outcome of the brakes.

You know anything about the rear disc conversion?
@TheInteriorAutoMechanic
@TheInteriorAutoMechanic 6 месяцев назад
Hi there, yes I do. I'm potentially looking into it in the future for track purposes. However, you aren't gaining much by doing just because these cars are so light the drums and can handle the job. There was a write up on yarisworld if I remember correctly of what all you need to be able to convert it over easily.

I'd really like to do this but I doubt it will fit with my konig 15x6.5 heliums. I have a 2011 hatch and have stoptech rotors and pads and still found them to be lacking even in everyday use

I wonder if a manual brake conversion would save a lil weight uptop by losing the booster (but will need a different master cyl wouldnt it)
@TheInteriorAutoMechanic
@TheInteriorAutoMechanic Год назад
I'm sure it could save some weight up top by deleting the booster but personally I want the car to be a comfortable racecar. I know that may sound odd but I've gone full race car build before on other cars to the point they weren't enjoyable to drive. I want this to be somewhere in the middle of a street car and track car. Basically something anyone could hop in on a track and learn how to drive without any special instructions.

Significant difference? I have a non ABS 08 hatch and I'm thinking of doing this in the front cause it just feels like its not a good stock brake set up with good stopping. Had the rears done recently which helped but I'm thinking this may be the way to go.

@@TheInteriorAutoMechanic yes but 2011 model year has two different styles of front sway bar, one to accommodate long sway bar end link that's mounted to the shock and the earlier one has a short link mounted to lower control arm, I assume they can both fit all I have to go is use one link ste or the other?

Will this swap work with stock stamped steal 🛞 wheel? Or you must upgrade?
@TheInteriorAutoMechanic
@TheInteriorAutoMechanic 23 дня назад
@@abrahamgsolis you will need to upgrade to an alloy or steel that clears the calipers. The factory wheel does not. However, I use a set of Mini Cooper alloy wheels that are 15" that barely clear but they work great just be sure to use hub centric rings and the correct lug nuts. Perfect to keep miles off my track tires.

I highly recommend the Sparco 15" FF-1 as they are 15lb per wheel and you can fit 15" X 8" with good rubber (NITTO Neo Gens are working well) Did you find a solution like this for the rear brakes? I would love to install discs on the rear.... (2008 Yaris S Hatchback)
@TheInteriorAutoMechanic
@TheInteriorAutoMechanic 10 месяцев назад
I'll be sure to look into those wheels and tires thanks for the recommendation! You can do a rear disc conversion but you have to use the rear beam out of a 2014+ Yaris SE. It's been well documented on Yarisworld.
