(2007-2014) Cadillac Escalade Serpentine Drive Belt & AC Belt Installation New Idler and Tensioner

With not a lot of resource videos on maintenance on Cadillac Escalades, I wanted to share the install procedure for Main Drive Serpentine belt replacement, and lower AC belt replacement (No Tensioner) using Zip Ties! Also installing a new Idler and new tensioner. You can do this yourself in 30-45 minutes and save a trip to the "Stealer-Ship" and a $300 bill! I am not a mechanic, just a Car/Truck enthusiast. No special tools, no hydraulic vehicle lifts, no fancy equipment, just hand tools, ramps and jack stands. The procedure should be similar on Tahoe and Yukon models for same generation. Enjoy!

Ingenious zip tie trick. I was going crazy, i have 2012 tahoe I thought previous owner took the tensioner off the bracket (bracket has bolt holes for what looks like tensioner), I went crazy trying to get an ad tensioner for this year tried so many places without luck BECAUSE IT DOESN'T EXIST 😅 your video must've save over $10k of labor collectively to these viewers. You the man

This is why I like RU-vid. Your zip tie trick worked fabulously and saved me from buying another one time use special tool!! And for removing it when not replacing it I just did the same thing and used a screwdriver to turn the belt off of the pulley.

Very good alternative method of installing stretch belt but above all, that DURALAST SOCKET (taiwan version) is BEAST. Tried n True. I wish they had stuck to the Taiwan manufacturing but unfortunately they moved it to China and the new duralast is not as good aa taiwan.....shit i loan out my Matco n Snap on before my Duralast sockets.

Hello Ba you do not have to. But it's east enough that it makes sense to replace both at the same time, so you won't have to guess how long on each in the future.
@jonrainwater7940
@jonrainwater7940 5 лет назад
You don’t have to cut the AC belt or use zip ties. If you use a standard 1/2 ratchet without the socket, it will fit in the square pulley to relieve the tensioner pulley on the AC belt. I did appreciate the video though!

Hi Jon, unfortunately this gen from 2007 and up, had no AC belt tensioner. Their engineered designed it without the tensioner.
@stcroixman2002
@stcroixman2002 3 года назад
Just an added comment - my 2008 Cadillac Escalade did have a tensioner installed on the engine block for the A/C belt...
@cup_and_cone
@cup_and_cone 5 лет назад
This entire generation of truck is notorious for belt squeal because they ditched the AC belt tensioner. These 'stretch' belts loosen over time and that's where the squealing comes from. The best solution is buy an AC belt tensioner pulley ($30) and belt ($20) setup from the previous generation of truck 2000-2006, and it will stop all the squealing. You will need to source the two bolts. In fact, some of the early 2007 new models still had the tensioner before it was finally phased out. So for an extra $30 during your next belt change, anyone can permanently fix GM's cheapness.
@mattsawesomeshow
@mattsawesomeshow 5 лет назад
Hello, that's actually an excellent idea. Change it out to precious gen which DID have an idler. Hmmm good thinking.
