Purpose of taking off the caliper? You can just undo the sway bar inlink, tie rod, and acu at the knuckle. Bungie it to the side and pull out a strut from the bottom in the same manner...

Just installed mine on a 2016 Silverado, out of experience you do not need to remove the brake system completely, just the lines are fine. Another tip, if it’s 2-3 people on the project, I recommend after removing the strut, one person installs the spacer and the other 2 start removing the sway bar and control arm. Makes it go by 10x faster.

If your a person familiar with a wrench but never done a suspension lift of any kind this is for you. This job is fairly easy but requires alot of elbow grease and patience because of thinking ways to ease the process, there was one task that I had more trouble on which was connecting the bottom strut back with the lower control arm, I recommend to remove the clamps where the bolts secure with on the strut then raise the lower control arm with a jack till the holes align properly and then send the bold through and then tighten with the clamp. doing this took alot of trial and error and once I found out a method to get pass that it was done in a jiffy. after installation the next day i went to install BFG KO2s 275/70/17 and fit in nicely will need an alignment for sure because now my steering wheel is a tad off. Suspension is stiffer and feel the road more but the tires is a contributing factor. All in all if your stuck during removal or installation there is a sweet spot that makes it so much easier. (ps. sorry for the bad sentence structure.)

Please read, you will have to remove 3 top shock bolts, 2 bottom of that,1 bolt front linkage, 1 middle knuckle and hit with hammer, and 1 bolt back sway. Nothing related to brakes or rotor or drum. You can pull out clips on any brake lines that may stress. Loosen. You will also need to align those 2 bolts on the bottom of shock, ( i grabbed a sturdy crescent wrench and clamped on the side on the little gap between middle of shock and clip. Loosen. Pry on the prybar to help the hole line up with bolt pathway. Screw from bottom. For lining everything up just use prying, and the car jack. Its actually very easy just some work required.

I really appreciate this video. You should change “you may have to rustle with this strut” to “you will have to rustle with this strut…there’s a good chance you will breakdown emotionally and want to take a sledgehammer to the side of the door but remain patient and find your own way to get the part aligned. Meanwhile I will continue on this vehicle that was driven one time when backed out of the shop.”

I did the Rough Country 2" leveling strut and getting the old off wasn't bad. Putting the leveling strut in will make you invent new cuss words. Still glad I did the work myself. I asked the shop manager at Firestone while getting an alignment done what they would charge and he said 3-4 hours of shop labor which at the time was $100/hr. I assume it's a lot more now.

This is a lot of unnecessary steps I put the rancho quick lift leaving kit on my 15 Silverado with just a prybar and a 15mm and 18mm sockets/ratchet wrenches and a torque wrench . All u need to do is remove the three nuts on top and the two bolts on the bottom then pry down on the control arm and push the bottom of the strut out then it drops out , u pull the top toward u and the strut pulls right out between the control arms then when u are putting it back together it’s the reverse order takes about 20-30 min per side and there is no need to disassemble all those extra components.

No matter what I did I could not get the strut bolts off. Ended up snapping one of them. Ended up giving up after countless hours of not being able to break it loose

So the suspension from a 2018 sierra/silverado is the same as a 2011 sierra Denali? If so that means I can install a 2018 4x4 in my sierra Denali.

If you do both sides at once. You can swap the left strut to the right and vise versa. Makes it so you don't have to fight them back in.

Yes my son n law was in my carport a couple of weeks ago doing his truck when I came home. That is what we did because we couldn't get it back in with out swapping them. The angle is just ever so slightly off and it was way too difficult to force it back in but if you swap it to the other side that angle is then moved to your advantage.

I'm having trouble putting the upper control arm to the spindle it won't reach? Do I need to loosen it all the way so it can have more movement?

Its been a month seeing this comment and it probably got solved but for those with the same issue you have encountered here is a method. start by jacking the lower control arm enough to help close the gap and use a pry bar to the upper control arm to the coil and using the coil as a leverage to push down on the control arm.

@@josephbleich2177 I’m gonna try your way because of the life of me I couldn’t turn it 180 degrees or line it up to the holes to the strut tower. It reminded me why I didn’t choose the mechanic route as my profession

@@Rudeboy916209it worked for me, if I recall I might’ve had to twist the bottom bushing a tiny bit but it’s way easier then turning the hole top strut 180. Lemme know how it goes!!

i installed this kit on my 09 gmc denalli. It made my truck very nice however ive had to replace my axles twice. I was told that I needed a extended axles. Is there any one that could guide me to the right direction? or tell me what i should do, besides going back to stock.

Well if you have cv axles I would recommend a differential drop kit to help level it back out to a more factory angle.

I added Rancho 9000's all the way around on my 14 Sierra All Terrain, I set the rears at the FIVE(5) settings, and the Rancho leveling struts at THREE(3)... Now I still didn't like the stance so I also added the Rough Country lower spacers, now that leveled her out with the 33x12.5x20 COOPER MAXX tires...I also added air bags @ 15lbs on remote so I can keep her level when hooked up to my boat, and other trailers, SHE'S NOT A WORK TRUCK!!!

2-3 inch difference are mild upgrades. The suspension components will wear quicker than at factory ride height due to angles changing in your ball joints, cv axles, and tie rods. It all depends. Some parts will go almost immediately from existing mileage. usually upgrades like this will reduce the life of your suspension components by a 3rd of its normal service life. Small price to pay to look sexy. Driveshaft should be just fine with a leveling kit. Original purpose of these kits where to help stabilize steering in towing rigs . Not so much today.

Either works. My 2" kit works fine with a factory 17x9. Anything over this will require a minimum 18" due to suspension geometry.

It can cause your ball joint to pop out of place. I know a lot of people say theirs is fine. But it’s not a matter of “if”, it a matter of “when”.

My buddy did spacers and I did leveling struts and mine rode significantly better. Metal pucks on top of worn parts probably didn't help. The next spring he put the same leveling struts on and it rode smoother. After adding 33" KO/2s it got better. Well gas mileage went down but that was expected.

did you have to turn the strut 180 degrees? I want to do my 2020 silverado but not sure how hard its going to be easy to turn and dont want to compress the strut.

when installing the spacer it does turn the strut 180 degrees and because of that it is a bit of a hassle to reconnect the strut to the lower control arm, to solve it is to use a jack and apply pressure on the strut and have a bolt in the holes to align it so the bolt can go through with ease. definingly wish I knew that was gonna be the case so I can know ahead of time the hassle it was to put it back on.

@@johnathanchacon2758 I didn't have any luck. ended up removing the brakes and swapping struts with opposite sides to make sure the holes lined up easier. That was honestly probably the hardest part. get a long 1/4" extension in the hole to straighten the strut base so you can get a bolt started then its smooth sailing.

@@OrangeSpeedTV I actually did this kit yesterday and it was a breeze. Only troublesome side was the driver side. All I did was use a jack to bring the whole side up to line everything up and it was a quick after that. I’m currently running some venom power xts 33/12.50/r20s on my 2016 Silverado and I have no rub, the truck rides super smooth

I bought this kit installed it on a 17 Z71 and installed 275/60/20 tires on factory wheels and I’m rubbing on my UCA’s this is frustrating because factory tire size is 275/55/20. Mind you it’s a taller tire not a wider tire it’s actually .25” narrower than previous tires. HELP?!

this kit is kinda a piece of shit, it bottoms out on the bushing and makes it ride rough, would definitely go with a rough country or a suspension maxx. this kit is cheaply made and makes it hard to fit since you have to rotate it 180 degrees, worst design i’ve seen and would go with something else!
