This might be the reason why I'm getting between 21 and 24 mpg even after full tune-up and new tires and alignment I used to get close to 30 mpg mixed driving
I have a flast spot when infirst get hard on the pedal from a stand still (feels like its about to die then springs back to life) do you think if i clean the sensor it would fix this
Good possibility, it's not hard to do. Couple screws and it comes right out. It's delicate so just don't drop it. Alteast if it doesn't fix your issue, you can rule it out👍
Would an electrical connector spray work the same or is there something special about the mass air flow cleaner? Thanks for the video! I have a too lean code p0171 coming up. Figured id try this before changing o2 sensors
I tried it and it seemed to work good. Also quick drying and same brand. From what i looked into its potentially the same stuff just renamed for extra sales. Its called electronic cleaner. On my civic hybrid the sensor was right on top so no need to move air box. Thanks for the video. I reset my engine light and so far good. About 100 miles on it today and It was coming on around 50 miles when i reset it before so im hopeful!
Well i reset code with my scan tool so im hoping it wont come back on. Was driving fine but my gas mileage has been a little less then normal so hoping that will go back up and code will stay off!
what was the reason u clean your mas sensor, my civic bogs and surge when i'm on a stop light .... i clean the throttle body to no avail, this is my next step.
@@REALmarktheshark do you remember if your car had any surging idling problems before it died on your wife while she was driving , or was the car symptom free then just suddenly died.
@@REALmarktheshark obviously I disconnected and reconnected. Check engine light gone. Will see how long it lasts. I guess rule of thumb is to disconnect negative battery terminal before removing mass airflow sensor
It, can if it was really dirty before. The car I that I used in the video was throwing a p0101 code and the car actually just died in the middle of a turn onto our street. After I cleaned it, no more issues.
@@REALmarktheshark definitely going to get this tomorrow my scanner told me the same thing code p0113 but if the cleaning doesn’t solve it because I’ve also had my power engine led turn on what kind of maf/iat do I get for a 2007 Honda Civic 1.8L ?
@@lilricky7336 you may be able to find an after market maf sensor at you local auto parts store to replace yours if it's bad. My wife's 2007 Civic was literally dying while driving down the street, and once I cleaned the sensor, we didn't have any more issues
@@REALmarktheshark shii man can you put me to a good maf ? Like a link because I got one but it was something called mass air flow which still means maf right I think lol? But my powe engine led lights were on still do you think maybe the wires are a issue ? And if so do you think I could possibly do it myself or have it professional done?
@@lilricky7336 yes maf =mass air flow I did a little online search and it looks like autozone carries a Durlast one for about $50. I'm not too sure one what else would be causing your engine light to turn on. I would try cleaning the sensor first because it's a cheap fix, then if that doesn't work, you can try moving onto other solutions. 👍
Yep I noticed the placement of it is harder to get to. Gotta take off more parts and move that air box out from under the firewall. Nice profile pic btw lol👍
