Please help, I recently replaced all brake pads and rotors on my mom’s car (Same car as in video), but I don’t understand how I was suppose to align the piston with the pad? I didn’t think it really mattered but now I’m doubting myself. I don’t think you even aligned it since you didn’t even mention it. She said it stops fine. I compressed it until it bottomed out. I don’t want her to have issues later down the line, and if I have to fix something I think it should be done now before the pads are completely bedded in the rotors.
The caliper bracket that holds the shims and the brake pads in place should fit perfectly when closing the caliper with the piston compressed in the bore..so i dont think theres a alignment issue.. Try taking it apart and check
@@MarkPuke13 Yeah, after watching you video again it clicked on me as you were closing the caliper. But from what you’e saying it wouldn’t have close if it wasn’t aligned? I also did a little researched and learned that the piston only spins outwards when engaging the parking brake and pushes straight outwards when pressing the brake pedal. One of the reasons I was confused was because I thought it spanned outwards and wondered how it wasn’t going to hit the nipple on the pad. Thanks so much for replying. I’m probably going to check tomorrow though just for the peace of mind.
@@keviiiboo7460 hey kev dont worry i stress and hate myself when i think i did it wrong because of all the dangers it can bring!! But thats why when filming yourself you can use it as a sort of check list when you look back at it!!! Thanks for watching and happy wrenching!! Take care of what you need to and stay safe!!
I know someone that has a 2007 Kia Spectra for $1800 that they are trying to sell, it's got 288000 miles on it. Should I buy it, is it worth the money?
If it’s taken care of maybe.... but the miles on that engine is WILDAF! If it hasn’t done the proper maintenance then no..but if he kept it clean and took time to maintain everything for sure but it will still cost ya
Nice vid but rotor wear waves like that do not mean nessecary warpage, pulsating brake pedal does come from warpage, just from thin to thick rotor wear not wavy patterned, ya usually can't look and see that kind of warpage without a dial calliper or micrometer. Measuring the thickness or thinness witness with the rotor and or brake drum van be done with a Runout guage, sorry didn't mean for this to run on so long, but one more thing to save some money , you can usually have your rotor or drums turned out at a brake shop alot cheaper than buying new ones.
