There's an article on the internet from Saleen that set up still made more horsepower than the 465hp 07 set up that came threw the fender well. That set up was close to 500 hp. Shortest path to the supercharger. Plus it just looks bad ass. I always like the old school ram air look.
Thanks for watching! Originally the shaker system came with a smaller pulley than the say 465hp base saleen series 6 kit which equated to more power because of more boost. That intake restriction is not really a restriction until you get into bigger boost on a built engine or run cams that really look for more air at higher rpm.

I have the same set up on my 06 Vista Blue GT. I removed pre-filter and cut out rain guard. Mine was a piece of sheet metal with a silicone bead to hold it in. Don't drive in rain so took all that out
Saleen didn't even build a fox till the 84 and they sold very few and they're hard to find today so gonna be pretty tough to find an "early 80s" Saleen lol😊
If you have any supershaker kits you wanna sell just let me know doing a 5.4 s331 engine swap In my 2013 stang have the 4.6 and 5.4 lids but looking for a gen 2 version 4.6 lid or supershaker can be cut like you were talking about in the video.
The one you are talking about for a NA 3V is purely cosmetic. Has a tube running from the back to your stock air box to try to help air into the box. The air does not actually go through the shaker into the engine. Back in the day we did not even use that tube that runs from the shaker to the air box we just used a cold air intake. CDC Shaker looks cool, but does nothing but appearance on the all motor 4.6 3V.
Steve seems like a decent guy to me from what I've seen in magazines and when he's been on TV and stuff like that of course I don't know him personally but I got the vibe he was a decent down to earth guy. What made you not want a Saleen after meeting him?
The stock pulley for the S281SC starting in 2006 was a 3.85...early 2005 cars had a 4.0 pulley. No Saleen came from the factory with a 3.6 as far as I remember. The Extreme ran a 2.8 pulley if I remember correctly.
