2007 Tacoma Headlight Replacement // LED's 

Hey Justyn, Thanks for reaching out, and for the kind words. Congrats on the Truck! I'd never heard of the Yamaha Edition, that's awesome! I'll answer your questions in reverse order: First, I checked my email and confirmed, these are the two headlights I ordered: Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total 81110-04163 Headlight (Right) $199.70 1 $199.70 81150-04163 Headlight (Left) $199.70 1 $199.70 Subtotal: $399.40 Estimated Shipping via Standard Shipping: $38.50 Total: $437.90 That's a direct copy/paste, so you should be good there. Next, the short answer is they're holding up great, and are one of the biggest things that makes the truck look newer (not being fogged/scratched). Full disclosure, 2-ish weeks ago I sold the truck and bought a '22 Tacoma TRD Pro, but I actually made a video reviewing the truck after 15 years, 186k miles of ownership. They look *BRAND NEW*. I can't tell you how pleased I was with this light project, it transformed the look of the truck. Regarding the bulbs, I had no issues, and they worked just as good nearly a year later, and would highly recommend them. I checked the link in the video, and they are still available on amazon. On to your last question: There are 2 pieces to replacing the rusting parts. The ones that Toyota covered, and the ones that I covered. Long story short, there was a frame recall (at least here in the US, not sure about CA), and that was how I got them to cover the majority of the work. I didn't go out of my way on it, they told me they needed to do it to make the truck safe. Specifically, I brought it in for service one day (just an oil change), and they found a fist sized hole in the frame, and wouldn't let me take my truck home. They literally said, we can't let you take your truck back because of safety. The key for you is to A. Find out if the recall was/is the same in Canada, and B. See if it's still active and if replacement is still an option. In the US, depending on the dealership and probably some other factors, some owners got offers to buy out the truck (for more than KBB value), and others got offers for frame replacement. I was one of the ones who they only offered the frame replacement. When they did the work, they covered the frame, the fasteners, the leaf springs, and a few other smaller things. I had to cover anything that wasn't covered by the recall, so the shocks, rubber seals on the universal drives, etc... The second part are the things that I covered myself. In the video I linked above, I provide a list of all the items I replaced over my 15 years of ownership, as well as what I paid for those. I'd kept a list of all that stuff on my computer, so it was easy to share. I hope this helps you. The truck was fantastic for me, and there was nothing wrong with it when I traded it in for my new one, but with some long roadtrips where we'll be towing a trailer coming up next year, my wife suggested I get something new. Hi Chris, Watching the videos of people putting their lights in the oven to open or seal the adhesive was sketching me out! The bulbs I got do have small fans in them, so we'll see how they do once it gets cold, I believe there are some out there that have passive cooling, so that'd be my next shot, but even if these last a year or two I think I'll be happy because the light output is phenominal compared to the old halogens. I was really on the fence tbh, because the Toyota OEM lights are so expensive, but I'm glad I went that path. I also feel like many of the aftermarket options look kind of like an accessories catalog was thrown at them (with all the extra LED running lights, etc...), and they kind of look cheesy. If I have any issues, I'll do a video update for sure. I also am going to be doing a new rear bumper (mine rusted off), and likely new wheels and a full detail to freshen it up (stock wheels are super corroded), as I bring it back to full daily use (which is admittedly not much driving). Agreed that it adds up quickly, so I'm trying to keep it somewhat minimal, and not dump lots of money into a nearly 15 year old truck. Thanks for reaching out, hope you're doing well! -Fred

Thanks man! After just shy of 1 year (around 10 months), they looked amazing. No scratches or chips, no fading/hazing, and the light throw was great. I say up to 10 months, because in August I bought a new TRD Pro Tacoma, and sold my old '07. I'm sure whoever has my old truck is enjoying the lights though! Hi Jamie, Nope, they plug in directly, no other modifications needed. I was really impressed with how simple and quick the process was. I obviously also replaced the whole headlight assembly, but you could just replace the bulbs instead if you wanted. Mine were super cloudy/cracked/old though, so the new enclosures really helped! -Fred

Hi Chris, Thanks for reaching out! I was on the fence about OEM Toyota housings versus less expensive ones, and ultimately I knew that condensation would drive me nuts if I didn't get OEM, so that'd the direction I went. That said, I have heard that if you have condensation there is a "semi-sketchy" way to fix it. There's guides online for how to do it, but essentially you take the headlight out, heat up the adhesive that binds the clear lens to the housing, separate them, and redo the seals. It seems pretty sketchy, with lots of risk to mess it up, but I've heard that if you're careful it can work pretty well. Not sure how helpful that advice is, I'm not sure there are any easier answers. I will say for what it's worth, the OEM unit I used in this video has now been on the truck for several months, and been through rain, ice and snow, with no condensation at all. The seals both on the lens and on the bulb itself are very tight. Bummer was that each light was more than double the non-Toyota brand ones. Have a nice day, and thanks for reaching out! -Fred

I didn't need to. Maybe for blinkers, but these lights worked without any issue.

The foglights seem to be (from the little bit of searching I've done) to be a standard size, but I haven't done any homework yet on good brands. My headlights are still running strong with zero issues, so I want to finish the upgrade with the fog lights. Have a nice day! -Fred

@@FredsFullThrottle well I put in some LASFIT LCplus H10,they are made in china,China, had them for about 5 or 6 months, no issues, I can actually drive around with only my fog lights, I did that any times fog lights on my tacoma, so yes very bright.

Just like a normal headlight bulb, as it uses the standard housing.

Hi Charles, At 25 feet, the cutoff is just about an inch below the center line of the headlights (which from what I read is correctly adjusted). The right side has a bit more "bleed" which is intentional to illuminate the side of the road. In all my night driving no one has flashed me to indicate my lights are blinding anyone, so I think they're properly adjusted. Thanks for reaching out though! -Fred
