In this video we cover the replacement of all three power steering lines on a 2007 trailblazer. This repair will cover multiple years of the Chevrolet (chevy) trailblazer and the GMC envoy. The power steering lines tend to fail above the drivers side shock tower. This video covers the removal and replacement of these lines as well as fluid filling and bleeding the lines prior to road testing/driving. This video is provided as a guide. If you have any questions, contact your dealer or mechanic. Use all proper safety equipment including jack stands, and safety glasses.

Firstly big thanks to the good man who posted this video... I tackled it differently I removed the fan and shroud I also removed the battery and tray giving me a lot of wiggle room the high pressure fitting to the pump can be accessed from the passenger side wheel well with the wheel off I cut the old line off and use a socket to remove the fitting with the battery and tray out of the way move all the wiring you can to the side with a bungee cord and both lines will pull out relatively easy ... I don't have the patience to be twist and turn in tight spaces when removing a few things give you enough room to save your sanity 😅

I appreciated the safety reminder...I worked in a garage for a number of years and the only car fluid I've never gotten into my eyes is power steering...haha don't wanna start now.

Thanks for the video. I did a lot of homework before tackling the project and went your route. I skipped the new cup seals and pried the new hoses over the control arm/bolts. I tried compression fittings at first and that was a waste of time. Those would probably work on the low pressure line, but are a waste of time to try on the high pressure line.

This video is so helpful...thank you. My leak is so bad it's 3 bottles of power steering fluid per day since November. Yup! Very helpful....thank you!

Not sure if I need to order 3 limes or two lines for my leak. Just the pressure in the return lines are leaking, but amongst internet researching it's a little unclear I have a 2008 Chevy TrailBlazer four cylinder, no leak in the reservoir but the leaks are underneath both lines by the driver's wheel. But there's websites that say there are three lines that need to be replaced. Any advice? St Louis girl here would really appreciate it!

Yeah, I had to be careful. Had surgery to reattach and anchor my tendon. Essentially a case of tennis elbow. Luckily the recovery went fairly quick and I was able to do this repair without tearing anything open. Thanks for watching and for the comment.

well glad it went well. it was hard getting in there to do the work. my wrist took the worst of it. but it was worth saving 240$ plius tax just for the part alone. I was able to salvage my line where the rubber had worn out. only removed an inch roughly and was able to reuse the same line.

What was "way easier" installing the pressure line? For me it was way easier taking that line out, with no cutting. Therefore I presumed installing it would be "way easier" as you say. But I can't get it up over the strut tower. Unfortunately no one has a video of actually threading the lines in.

Just FYI for anybody going to tackle this project now. The two 10 mm bolts that hold the brackets on don't have to be removed. The clips just have to be popped open to release lines. I also cut my low pressure hose so I could spin it to be able to get a good squeeze on the hose clip. Had the low pressure line off in about 30 minutes with no jacking and no removal of anything except two wiring clips to get rubber gasket off up top. I have yet to do the high pressure but I am a thin guy and if the low pressure is all you are doing I was able to do it fast with no jack. If you're a bigger person you will need jack.

I couldn't get to the seals very well but the old ones were in good condition so I look eft them in place and reused them. I'm not sure how to get a seal puller in their, it's a tight spot. Maybe dental picks would work.

@crowman943
@crowman943 9 месяцев назад
I believe it was something like 2 or 3 hours of actual working on the vehicle. Definitely a less than a full day. Could certainly be done faster, but I was honestly figuring a couple things out as I was doing it. That's shouldn't include the extra time I put in to move, or reset cameras, multiple takes because I flubbed a line, or had to check my separate audio recorder etc. It's been a few years, so it's hard to fully remember without reviewing every second of uncut video.

@@crowman943 thanks, I did a quick temporary fix my taking a gas line two compression fittings and cutting the line leaving about two inch of the original line on each end, having the line in between them. It works for now but I'd like to replace the whole thing eventually. Just because of other spots that are corroded. Peace of mind and all that. Thanks again.

I'm still trying to do this, but the parts that I can't figure out on my own are cut from the video. . . . basically removing and feeding in the line. because there doesn't seem to be anyway to do that without removing a vast amount of wiring.

I ended up re-using the old seals. They were in good condition and it was going to be very difficult to remove and replace them. I took a little gamble on it and got lucky. I'm not sure how I would get a seal puller in there. Maybe using something like a dental pick.....

Not enough hands to feed it in and film at the same time. Unfortunately I don't have a way to mount the camera at such a low height currently. I admit it's a flaw in the video, and I apologize. Hopefully I can upgrade my equipment in the future to avoid missing those shots.
