Ford Ranger 4.0 SOHC V6 Oil Change. Spent the whole day recording and editing this video. Sorry about the traffic noise, this was recorded during rush-hour, in the morning.
Haven't seen too many videos on RU-vid for an oil change with this specific Make, Model, and Motor, so I thought I'd give it a try!
Please note that only the oil, and oil filter need to be replaced when changing the oil, but the other steps are additional, preventative maintenance. I don't talk much about checking fluid levels, but this is a great time for that. My fluids were all fine at the time of recording, and the footage didn't come out quite right, so I left most of that out.
Kinda mad about the extra space in "goggles," but not gonna let it waste the video.

Mechanic's tip: If your oil filter is vertical, it can make a mess when it is unscrewed. Take a steel punch and a hammer and lightly punch a hole in the center of the bottom of the oil filter. Remove the punch quickly, and the oil will drain out of the old oil filter into the pan before you unscrew it. Avoids a lot of mess.

Hey, thanks for the comment! Even though the truck is 11 years old, its only up to 78,000 miles, and I haven't had many issues! Drivetrain works really well. Only thing that's broken is the needle showing which gear is selected. You can change through PRND21 just fine, but the needle stays in place. Been like that for 10 years, and I've forgotten about it, but it's the first thing anyone else mentions, when they get behind the wheel.

You shouldn't have any problems all the engines 2.3, 3.0, 4.0 are solid engines

Help me I live in Alaska I have no garage no shop it took me two days to get an oil filter off but I got it off when I went to install a new oil filter it didn't fit it was the correct filter and it appears happy Oriole filter housing has turned it an angle and I can't get the new one in it's driving me crazy I'm on my fourth day for one hour or oil change can anybody help me

The oil filter I use is a S2 model from STP. I've used it with conventional oil, and synthetic blend.

I hope you got it fixed. If money is not a worry, get a tap and die set to make sure the thread where the oil filter goes is not stripped. But it is far more likely that you are simply not aligning the oil filter correctly. Take a deep breath, be patient and after you get it on I bet you never have that problem again.
