Hello and thanks for responding. The valve cover on the left side as your sitting in the car has an e14 bolt a few inches back from the front of the cover. Does it need to be removed? It's torqued so tight I can't get it loose. Once again, Thanks
I believe it does. Apologies for the late reply. For anyone who hasn't fixed it to this point I remember using a short extension and mini breaker-bar to get it loose. Not sure if you still needed it, but hope It helps!
There is almost 0% info online on this job for the m272. I did find 1 service manual which called for Loctite Sealant 5970, so no conventional gasket? My issue is 1-3 spark plug tubes leaking & there is absolutely zero info anywhere on this which amazes me. I have no weeping from vc, but coils were soaked when going to do my plugs. Any help much appreciated, & thanks for being the only one to acknowledge that the m272 actually gets this repair
No, just using gasket maker, I did make sure that i sealed by the spark plug holes as well since there is contact points there. And no problem. Im glad this helped you!
Yeah theres not much out there on em. Actually did this one cuz service manager sold the job without looking it up. Made it an adventure but glad i can help people out. I just need to post more especially since i have my own business now lol
Valve covers were leaking, oil burning smell once car was up to operating temp, smoking under the hood on longer drives from oil burning on exhaust manifold.
Theres a gasket there, i prefer right stuff for valve covers, ive had better luck with that since it fills in imperfections better than a factory gasket
