That race sticker shocked me when that little cute fresh faced mouth full of braces popped out like she was shot out of a cannon and no one saw, including me saw that one coming. Such a little cutie too. We love us some Shelley.
GREETING TO EVERYONE WHO ARE ESPECIALLY GREETING THIS LADY WHO IS CHAMPION OF ALL CHAMPIONS AND SHE IS GOING TO MISS DEARLY, DEARLY MISS MISS. SHE IS WORLD 🌎 CLASS BY FAR.
Jamaica 🇯🇲 have always veen a sprint factory. We were up against big countries who were sponsoring their athletes to take drugs, countries such as Russia, USA, China, The Germans, especially East Germany and the Soviet Bloc. Once drug testing was introduced, many so called star athletes retired.
Yes! She is the GOAT at 100m because no one can get a fastest start. No one ever has. No one ever will. Its her size. But Elaine Thompson and Shericka Jackson reach higher speeds once they get going with those longer legs so should be considered GOATS of overall sprinting which is a 100m, 200m and 400m discipline. I think all 3 of them are the GOATS of sprinting as FloJo was drugged up.
@@AnonYmous-ez4es ...And Flo Jo only reigned for three months! Flo retired soon afterwards and since and before her there are countless other women have displayed greater longevity and comparable speed without enhancements!! *Speed alone cannot be the only criteria that defines/designates who is GOAT!!*
Look at baby Shelly. 14 years later and she has the world lead and is still killing it. I am going to really miss her. (UPDATE- Shelly previously said this season would be her last, but she decided to keep going so we will see more of her for years to come.)
This is a good case study for today's youth who lacks discipline. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce demonstrated singleness of mind and an impeccable discipline. This what makes and keeps professionals at the top of their craft in every endeavor of life!
9:21 She kept saying nobody expected anything from her because if I’m not mistaken, Jamaicans even tried to make an uproar for her to give her spot to VCB. And Shelly refused.
Yes it's true 💯 but this unknown young sprinter stood her ground and went on to shocked Jamaica! In Beijing 2008 . She gave Us our first 100m Gold medal at the Olympics. "Pocket Rocket "🔥
Yes brings tears to my eyes seeing the heart felt winning smile knowing your dream just came true and her at her interview, the sincerity and innocence in her accomplishments but presented in humility is really beautiful to watch. Like that’s how it’s done and that’s how you win the heart of others
It's a testament to how much women's sprinting has improved that 10.98 is not sniffing the podium in a final today, and SAFP has been the face of that improvement.
The humility!!! Shelly you still out here killing it at 35!!! You have more than cemented your place in history. No one can talk a out sprinting without mentioning you for years to come!!!
10:43 "... a signal that Jamaica will be a major sprint force for years to come." That commentator had no idea how right he was. 14 years later Jamaica is still a force -- especially on the women's side -- and is still positioned to be a major force for years to come.
Regarding the Merlene Ottey comment made by Ato, this is not a rebuttal but an observation of the legend's legacy... Merlene did not win an Olympic Gold medal, however, her career transcended much more than that medal would mean to her resume. Normally I would be the first to declare an Olympic Gold medal as the standard for any Athletics career and sure it would have been nice to have it, but, Ms Ottey's legacy is well secured. 🥈🥈🥈🥉🥉🥉🥉🥉🥉
Very well stated friend. Ms Ottey is not to be mentioned, without putting some respect on to her name. Because though she didn’t win gold in her pet event, God knows she was up against a lot of unfair circumstances foul competitions, yet still she still medaled on the days it matters the most. Long live Merlene Ottey.
Yes 100% agree with but Merlene also ran the exact same time as Devers who won the gold it was so close in Atlanta 96 I still feel both ladies should have been awarded a gold medal 🥇 Merlene’s career was amazing her longevity was something that had never been done B4
We don't live in the past. Merlene is definitely a Gem here. However Currently Shelly is the best Female Sprinter at all times for me. Bear in mind she is not my favourite female runner. However she is the best thus far.
Merlene Ottey sprinted ageless up to the age of 40s (if I am not mistaken) very competitively and her place is secured in history. Now it is SAFP's time.
And the only reason she doesn't have a gold in her resume is that she was cheated. Despite running naturally in a time when doping was at it's peak, she still managed to ride with the 'greats' and be great. #legend
2008 Olympics when the world got 2 of the greatest sprinters ever in span of 24 hours.14 years down the line SAFP has hit her prime again, that tells how hard she works and how strong she is mentally
Awww...look at young Shelly. My goodness - like almost 15 years later, she's still sweeping races!!! She's only gotten faster and more beautiful! So proud of Shelly, and so proud to be Jamaican!!!🇯🇲
This race still gives me goose bumps to this day...I fell in love with Shelly Ann since then, she was so young and her smile and joy was and is always contagious...she is a legend,14 years later still tearing up that track....now mommypocketrocket❤️❤️❤️
I miss these kinds of videos where they show the athletes from beginning to end. Shelly is the goat. 2022 She has followed in merlene ottey footsteps to become an all time great. I'm from the USA but I love this woman. She is the best starter to me across the board, men and women.
You’d think it’s only Americans in the race to how this commentary is going I am glad they Jamaicans whoop they ass and continue to do to this day so many years later
Now think of Richardson at this age. The attitude...and with all that Shelly has won an done...still humble..never changed. LEGEND!! Still on top of the game.
don't compare jamaicans with Americans. stfu. Nobody cares about Rich. She didn't even make the semis of USA, and USA didn't even medal, meaning she's not even top 40 right now.
She may just have the talent and not the passion. If she was serious enough, she could get the right people in her corner to help her with all of that.
I love this race so much. I've watched it probably 1000 times. I remember watching it when it happened and now I look back and agree - look at baby Shelly. Proud of this fellow Wolmerian. Wonderful woman.
Shacari just qualified for the world at 10.83... both women are faster than me in my prime, but come on... and shelly is still a force in 2023 after having a baby?...I ran track in the eighties, and the Jamaicans have always been a threat...
Oh wow .. this really melts my heart, this is the year I came to know Shelly Ann and from I saw her in the trials at Beijing I began routing for her, am still a big fan of hers 14 years later. What a journey and what an amazing person she is. You just have to love her.
What I like about her is that even in defeat to her other teammates in not securing that number one spot, she is soo supportive and congratulatory towards her opponents or fellow team mates. It is clear everyone loves her humility; it makes what she does loveable.
@@efosso5723 to each their own I just never got the same feeling of excitement when it happened at the Tokyo Olympics vs when it happened at the Beijing Olympics
Wow happy to watch Shelly Anne Fraser Pryse 1st gold medal win and she’s still killing it 14 years down the line what an incredible achievement and consistency too
Y’all every time Shelly ran a world lead, I come back to watch this video. 14 yrs later, still at the top, is just rare and remarkable. She’s truly gifted. She was blessed with this talent. Every women in this field, have already retired, but Shelly is still ranking number #1. Tell me, if she’s not just a blessed one.
That's what you call legacy imagine 14 years later and the rocket still a launch what a runner what a performer and sounding humble and intelligent as ever god bless and keep she and her family safe big big runner
🥺🥺 I'm going to miss you when you retire my favorite athlete of all time you have given us a show of our lifetime from your tremendous sprinting, your hair styles, your personality, your beautiful smile, your humbleness omg I'm going to miss you wish you all the best in your up coming world champs and the rest of life...even when you're not on top of your game you're still on top of your game example: 2016 with that toe injury you still make your way to that podium, we cry with you, disappointed with you, cheer with you I love you you're an inspiration ❤🇯🇲
So sweet so pure so innocent so delightful so humble .jumping like she on the trampoline. This pint size phenomenon shows so munch respect for her training partner Asafa
Here I am 2022, still watching this, Shelly is the most disciplined athlete of all time. She's very beautiful outside and inside. She's not only a national icon in Jamaica but she is a Global icon.
This video is everything! It shows how quickly time flies. It was great moment to witness live!!! Big up Shelly-Ann and the other 🇯🇲 ladies! Your place in History secured!
What an amazing athlete....So humble and so joyous, and is the best teammate...she's always as genuinely thrilled when her teammates also succeed. The fact that she's still out here killing at 35, (after having a son no less) is just such a terrific testament to her training and overall talent. People have often described her style as "catch me if you can" which is so apt...She really does always get off to AMAZING starts, and it really is up to the rest of the field to see if they can catch her. I'll be super bummed when she hangs up with spikes for good, because she has been such an amazing person in the sport for so long.
Her journey to greatness a ture legend so tiny in 2008 and still the G,O,A,T, in 2022, the world will miss her whenever she decides to stop running, she is a legend that the world love ❤.
It's not to LOVE this young Lady.. So humble, exciting, and down to earth. She is a Sister to all the world much Love to her. I had to leave the 2022 world championship, and come here to look at her first Major gold medal win. Her lead was phenomenal.. Congrats to the USA Ladies and men's for dominating the team races.
🤣🤣🤣 That's the last time anyone would ever say that about this lady... No experience! It's TALENT that counts & even then she was head & shoulder's above the rest of the world. She's the only one in that line up that still regularly competes & wins at that level That smile, enthusiastic chat & pure joy of her sport is still with her & still reaches everyone inside the stadiums Congratulations on an awesome career ShellyAnne... You are an absolute pleasure to watch ❤️❤️❤️😘
She was over the moon for winning this race aged 21yrs old despite being the least experienced amongst the other competitors making sure that Jamaica got away with the sweep within this race & this gold medal gold made sure that Jamaica got gold at both male & female 100m race.
This moment will forever be etched in my heart. Not to take away from anyone’s accomplishments this year, but a healthy Shelly is who one should want to compete against
