FYI : As these cars age (any of the 2008 hardtop convertibles, Lexus, Mercedes, VW, Volvo and Mopar) and hit the 20 year mark you now are dealing with OLD AGE and rubber hydraulic seals and lines leaking. You may get stuck with the top down and have to figure out how to get it up. There is a video of an old man filling the fluid in his with many comments how to fix this, check them out. Ironically the G6 was a shared design platform for the GM/Toyota partnership (Corolla/Prism and Matrix/Vibe) which is no longer in effect. The G6 was very similar to the Toyota (Camery) Solara and (less so) Lexus sc hardtop convertible (Lexus went all out with a v-8 and rear wheel drive). Just be use caution putting the top up and down. If you have issues with this, pray it is not down, cause if it locks up the trunk does not want to open to put the top up. Unfortunately everything you need to look at is mostly in the trunk. There is NO key to open the trunk it is push button and when there is an issue with the top it throws a code and you cannot open the trunk.

To this I'll add to be sure to check fuses responsible for converting semi-regularly. My vehicle was unable to drop its' top, and a quick swapping of the fuses fixed the problem. If the roof were already in the trunk as you stated, this would have been a much harder fix. Thanks for the useful info!

😇🎉😊🇺🇸G6 GT CONVERTIBLE was entered producing line in 2006 , manufactured under pontiac's netvvorks a n d was not capitalized like several unique gm sport convertible mobiles. U knew the back body design have similar looks to nissan flady. It because nissan netvvorks stole others without any doubt. Off course thats a big hidden automotive crimes. Unfortunately nowadays brainer company recognize these kind of crimes as DERIVATIVE. There are reason why they had pushed pontiac manufactures and them department drown to empty and closed. It bcz nissan netvvorks led by kommies frm europe ? (italy). I like nissan suv , but it was TASTELESS , just like china latest ev propaganda in my country region

No. There is no manual override for the top. According to the owner manual on page 3-43; The hardtop will not operate if the vehicle has an electrical failure. If an electrical failure occurs, see your dealer/retailer for service.

Try setting the parking brake before lowering the top. Some convertibles require that.

What’s the error code? If it says something about the top not being fixed, or overheating, visit GM. It’s 400-500$ to get it fixed.

Hello. This is very good video. I have question about hard top open and close operation. Do you have to press the open top or close top button for the entire duration of the process of opening and closing the hard top roof? What will happen if you let go of this button before the roof is fully open or closed? Will this mess up the operation and break your roof?

On most convertibles, including the hardtop convertibles, you need to press and hold the top operation switch for the duration of top operation. The instrument cluster will usually have a message center saying "Top in Operation" then display "Top Up" or "Top Down", in which you can release the button. Having the top open mid-operation will not harm the top or its mechanism.

Neighborhood Car Reviews Thank you for your explanation. If you stop pressing the roof operation switch mid-operation before the roof is fully up or fully down, what will happen to the roof? Will the roof simply stop moving and stay in mid-air and resume opening/closing when you press the roof operation switch once again?

I bought my G6 in 2022, with 91k miles, 3.5 v6 GT. SO clean, and sporty on acceleration and turns 9n country roads. Hands down one of the best vehicles on the road today...
