It's such a shame that Paul Hamm fractured a bone in his hand at Visa's (I think), otherwise, I think he had a very good chance at getting a second all-around gold, or at least medaling. Just the fact that he made a successful comeback, unlike others, (ie, Nastia Liukin, Rebecca Bross, etc.) gives me warm fuzzy feelings.
@@You.Tube.Sucks. much as he did originally say that, he had no reason to do so. The other athletes and coaches have a specified amount of time to protest the results, didn’t do so until much later and so at that point it’s their choice to accept the results. It’s a very big reason why everything is done electronically these days, to eliminate (as much as possible) the potential for a miscalculation of scores but when you don’t take the time to protest within the allotted time, it’s on you only. It would not surprise me if he was advised not to do so- for that exact reason. It’s disgusting how he was villainized for the situation when he had no part in it.
Raj's dismount.... just incredible. I forget that's coming every time I watch this and then I end up yelling and clapping outloud in here, lol. Awesome.
Shawn had the most beautiful form. She was a power gymnast, and completely different from Nastia. Yet, they both got to compete together, and we got to see it. Neither one was perfect, but they were both the best in the world at the time. It is just so different today. Nobody will ever be a Simone Biles, as far as I can tell. But I miss the old gymnastics of Shannon Miller up through this quad. I'm so glad that the gymnastics environment is better for these gymnasts now than back then. However, I still miss these days!
Then the other vaults should be even lower than they are. The Amanar is an extremely tough vault- just like the Cheng- and should be rewarded as such. The DTY has become so standard it should be valued only slightly higher than the 1.5.
I'm sorry but I think the Worely defeats the purpose of the Onodi. I mean I know landing the Onodi on two feet is hard, but its not as graceful as a one foot landing Onodi. I def think that the Onodi is more graceful than the Worely.
This was not a World Cup event at that time... so the USA could send as many gymnast as they want, but they have to qualify into finals, which we see here.
juan carlos miranda enojado??? Los errores son más claro por video, también ella podía tener una nota de 17.2 y recibido .6 puntos menos que eso. Creo que lo notaron....
I could talk about this until I’m blue in the face! Especially Elfie. They’re both amazing gymnasts but Shawn is by far the better gymnast. Nastia is great on bars and beam but when it comes to floor and vault it’s pretty rough for her. Shawn is great on beam, vault and floor and on her weakest event bars she’s still really good and clean! Also how many competitions did she beat Nastia? They don’t give Shawn the credit she deserves. I don’t know if it’s because they’re still stuck on the past of the “classic” routines the thin, non muscular gymnast look that Nastia has but either way they both should’ve been respected equally as two of the best gymnast of their time.
@@traciejimenez2589 I find that gymnastics and scoring changes over the years. Better? Depends on the year. I don't know. I think at the Elite Level most of the gymnasts can do everything. They have it. But can that gymnast hold their nerves under the pressure of traveling and international competition? It comes down to choreography and will it win at Worlds? Will it win at the Olympics? Two different monsters. I love them both, Nastia and Shawn. I try not to let commentators or online opinions sway my respect for both of them.
Before the American Cup was simply a USAG invitational meet. Now it is part of the FIG World Cup circuit so there are more rules about who is allowed to compete and therefore the amount of American gymnasts.
Hahaha Worley getting an 8.8 with a fall and Nastia getting a 9.6 with only visible errors on her dismount... Shayla had form issues on her worley, underrotated her arabian, had a step on her dismount... smh
That's definitely the issue with the scoring system. If someone does a great job on an event and have a low difficulty they're going to score lower or the same as someone who has a higher difficulty but made a mistake on the event. I can see why fans were upset.
I have only seen an alternate compete once though the one with Gabby but I am not sure but I think that they that to bend some rule for that one even though
There's a vid of Nastia and Shawn, the one where they watch their Olympic routines together. Shawn comments on Nastia's RBF. I had to look that up. I felt that both Shawn and Nastia had intense looks in this competition. Shawn looks sad sometimes. Nastia looks nervous. I think it's just the pressure.
