Excellent excellent video with step-by-step instructions. After installing the new (junkyard) ignition switch assembly, it simply didn't work. I rechecked fuses, connections, charged the battery and gave up! No click, no crank, no nothing. I watched this video and followed it EXACTLY as described. Then, the car started and is running ! My last resort was to have this 2009 Malibu towed to the Dealership. I called first and they quoted me a $1000 to fix it, plus towing. Again, MANY thanks to you for your video!
Brother….that was the best explanation of a starting system i have ever, fully understood!!! Im a welder by trade, who dabbles i’m car stuff…and even i understood!! Automatic subscriber.
Great video, my friend. Splendid detail and acute camera angles /descriptions. Only if all the at-home fellas were as concise as that; I'd be on my way to completing engine swap project. Thanks again bud.
Thanks for the video. Couldn't get my car started after it rained and froze overnight. The relay got wet because I didn't have a cover on the fuses and the relay had ice on it
Yes, thank you for the info. I asked a person about my car he told me that I didn't need too change any sensor that the Malibu malfunction in the relay sensor. Now ai no that I need too check the, fuses thank you so much for the tutorial
Thanks for the great explanation. My situation is with a 2010 Pontiac G6 2.4L. I have power at the RED/WHITE wire at the ignition switch green connector, then I move the key to RUN and I get power at the PINK & BROWN wire. I get no power in RUN or START on the WHITE/BLACK or WHITE wire on the ignition switch green connector that go to the BCM. Any chance you can give me direction on what I should check next? Thanks! Ohh, also, I forgot to mention I've already replaced the ignition switch and it made no difference.
Excelent video...Have similar issues on a 2005 chevy malibu, no start no crank...When battery is connected the trunk opens, no start, no crank, hear something in the dash behind the BCM sorta like a bad blend door actuator, but all the hvac componets works well, when cranked by jumping relay pins, there is no power to radiator fans unless ac is on, and alternator ...Will crank by jumping relay pins...Seriously think either a bad ECM or BCM...Please tell me your thoughts ?
I have a after market remote start and it works fine. If I try to start it with the key it doesn't. Need to try the fuse to see if that my problem. Starts up everyday with the remote
My 09 malibu went to crank one-day and 3 seconds later shut off. Tried to restart and nothing. Has an code for ignition switch to ground and starter relay switch turned off. Stater relay has power from fuse but still will not turn over the starter when you jump it with a wire. Any info on a fix would be greatly appreciated.
My 2008 Chevy Malibu is currently giving me the same issues I could definitely use some help. I've tried some of your troubleshooting visuals, but it is still a continuous problem.
Thank you for this video. Have the same car (model and year)with starting issues as well. Does understand the security system in this vehicle. Can you explain that in full detail as well. Is there a way we can contact you personally. This car has not been running for over a year. Changed pcm, ignition switch, etc. Nothing seems to work. Was thinking about bypassing it with a kill switch but not sure which to connect it to. I did notice we not getting power at white and white/black wire when the key is turned to the run position
Got an situation where an guy replaced my transmission but he removed the engine replaced back now the car won’t trun over it was an fuse blew in box and the trunk replaced that no start tested an ground wire on The engine it was hot help thank you
I have a question when I go to start the car it kinda drag trying to start but if I turn the key back then try again it works any idea which this could be?
My throttle body relay stays constant clicking when batt hooked up. And fuel pump won't kick on. Plus makes flap on throttle body keep flapping until try to start. But car won't start. Replaced everything but car, lol What ya think is problem. Awesome video, very informative

Oh boy my friend you help me a little bit but my 2.4 2010 Malibu started intermittently crank no start and I'm going through hell trying to find out what it is
Hello my 2008 Chevrolet Malibu is doing what you talking about,I put new starter,New Battery check fuses.Biut it still won't crank up.So I'm asking what else is it I'm not doing for it not to start?
I had a problem with my car starting, bought a new battery and it still struggled to start, so i replaced the 2 amp fuse and the starter relay fuse wit new ones . car started with no struggle or stall
@@LehewTech what gauge wiring is used from the ECM to the neutral safety switch through the end of the wiring harness branch? I picked up a car that sat for a while and a mouse made a meal of some wires that I need to patch and repair.
When I try and start my 2009 Malibu i will turn it and it will crank and start but then it dies but it's still cranking when it turn key off I am confused also when it does run the motor is making a wierd noise just started please help
My Malibu has acted up a few times by acting like a dead battery. A Jumpstart has got it going every time. This time I was tired of it happening so I took a good batt from my other car and tested it. Also tested the old "dead" batt in the other car. Batts are good. After watching your video I checked those fuse/relays. Only sound I get is the relay right above the 2 amp fuse in your vid. I tried jumping the pins under the hood to make my starter engage as a test but something on top of the intake clicks. Can any of this info help you give me an idea? About to junk this car with only 130k on it. It has other problems that are making me lean towards that decision also. I do hear a relay clicking near the pedals sometimes since it quit starting/cranking. Also the last 2 times it's happened was after playing a sound system with amp/subwoofer but I didn't tap into any weird wires or even the radio, only the rear speaker ones. Used the line output converter and a fused hot wire to battery
One possible cause is the underneath the engine bay fuse box, the box with wire connectors may be burned causing interruption when hot especially on hot days, recommended fix is to get a professional car electrician to wire a new fuse box for the one that's burnt
My Malibu 2010 won't crank and won't start. When I switch on the Ignition nothing seems to work and seems like it's missing the main power connection. Even the door lock system doesn't work and trunk won't open. I am not sure what has happened. Until yesterday it was cranking and some anti theft lock system light turned on and so after watching some RU-vid videos I tried to trouble shoot that and lost everything and now it's all blank,.no lights, no wipers, no radio and zero connection to the car, please help..
I have a chevy malibu hybrid 09 2.4 there's icon battery dashboard and check ingene .I scanned in autozone and send me errors code p1a93 ??? Pls help me pls 🙏🙏
Thanks for the video. I have a strange problem with my 2010 malibu 4 cylinder. It will crank over and start no problem if its been sitting for even 5 minutes. But if I try to start it after driving for a bit it won't crank over. I gotta let it sit for a few minutes before it'll start up. It either hangs up on crank, or cranks over and dies out. Checked my fuses and suspect that the fuse box entirely is faulty under the hood where the starter relay is.
@Cece Prude I have still not figured out the issue. I swapped relays and changed My spark plugs and the issue went away for a month. Now it's come back. Going to bring it to a shop and hopefully get it figured out. If not I'm seriously considering scrapping the car and buying a car from a better company. This is so annoying lol. I'll keep you updated
I saw a few videos stating that a copper wire under the fuse box developed a fault because of how the box was designed. Soldering the wire or replacing the box fixed it for a lot of people.
I have a 2011 Malibu and I have the same problem. I've checked all the fuses and they are in good condition. But, it will not start. I get a code P0690. Can you help?
I have a 2009 Chevy Malibu. While I was driving today making a left hand turn in the middle of the intersection the car locked up and the anti-theft was activated. It would only turn slightly in click I was barely able to get it turned and from the intersection and pulled over. Several of the lights were lighting up on the dashboard. When I pulled over I turned it off and when I attempted to turn it back on it indicated that the anti-theft was activated and it won't start. We've since tried several things that people say online. Nothing seems to work. We've unplugged the battery for a few hours. We're going to try to unplug it overnight. This happened to us once before and unplugging the battery seem to work. But this time I'm a little worried as it didn't do this in the middle of driving previously. Has anybody else had this issue do you know anything that can help correct it and get the car started again and out of anti-theft lock?
i got a 2008 chevy malibu no crank no star. Has gasoline and has current. If I put the swick and turn it on by the stater it turns on for 2.3 seconds and it turns off, someone who can help me
When I try cranking my car to start (2009 Malibu 2.4L) It begins to smoke a bit inside the hood of the car. You can smell it from inside the car. Don’t know if that’s the fuses or starter itself. Battery is fine, all lights work. Just won’t start.
@@abdihakimjama4877 i removed my aftermarket autostart and car started up lasted a week now its doin the same thing idid get a code PO690 high voltage problem with the power supply to the ECM/PCM. So im back to digging on what can it be
I have Chevrolet Malibu 2008. Sometimes it does not turns on, No electricity in the dashboard, it does not show lights or anything and then I disconnect the battery for half an hour and return it back and then it torns on. What could be the problem?
