That Imperial vs. Cadillac Hearse hit was EPIC. Shows you how solid those old Chrysler Imperials were. Those are highly sought after cars for demo derby. I know a guy from many years ago that won four demo derbies with ONE of those Imperials. It held up through all of that. That Imperial took the hit from that Hearse like it was nothing and completely did an accordion act on the front of the Hearse. The Hearse driver got his bell rung bigtime.
+Joey Green That doesn't surprise me because 25 years ago or so when I was driving in demo derbies officials were considering making them illegal back then. Chrysler must have sold millions of those things in the mid to late 60's because even all these years later after I drove them in demo derbies they still are finding them and using them in demo derbies. The engineers that designed them should be proud. LOL
That 45 is also a Chrysler Imperial. The hearse is a Cadillac... If ya know anything about those 2 cars, you'll know that cheating or not... Imp will win that all day
Think it would be funny if people started painting their cars like these and just drove them around normally. Street legally of course. Now that would be unique!
What a hit on that hearse! Musta felt that one for days... Imp didn't last too long surprisingly. Second heat was a good one as well, that #69 was well built.
+Terry J. MacMullen No frame modifications. That generation of Imperial really was that strong. A friend of mine ran a very rusty '62 Imperial in The Netherlands (too big to get much competition in the UK) and it took 6 full meetings before it rolled over and died. They had full boxed frames from the factory which is why they're banned at a lot of US race tracks, and a fair number outside the US. The Dutch, however, well, the Dutch are just crazy...
Fast forward to 3:10... that's where the action starts.. unless you want to listen to wanna be announcers for 3 minutes. 7:05 the announcer can't tell a 1 from a 4 apparently... 11:25 heat # 2 action
Tuned 1221 it depends. With this track the hearses would win alot. I've watched Eli Beshaw beat the hell out of imperials with an 80s Ltd. Driver is what it comes down to
Bye bye Cadillac hearse. That driver may have brought the biggest car to the event but biggest doesn't always mean strongest, just ask all the people who have brought Volvos to banger races in the UK...
I love watching these Derbies! you taped a good one here. Went for the first time and took a small camera to one this Summer, caught some footage of on here in Shelburne Ontario, Canada. Did some editing to it as well. Let me know what you think. Cheers! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FEpz8_RNP8U.html
Amen brother! I was watching a vid on here awhile back with killer cars but the announcers had diarrhea of the mouth worse than these guys. I commented that and someone from the channel replied gettin' super butthurt callin' me a bunch of names. I guess truth hurts sometimes lmao.
well, I find it hard to believe that the imperial was a 60's imperial if it got owned by an 80's LTD haha. Unless the guy's shoving stuffed imp subs into a little 80's Ford LTD (not sure if that's possible) But head to head, imps gonna win that battle any day.
