2009 Ford focus wont start 

Same issue here. Just glad I have a manual so I can push start it. Ford needs to recall this!

Mine did that I replaced the ignition switch for $30 and it works now.

My sons 2009 did the same thing. There is a video here on YT that shows how to bypass the faulty system and fix it for less than $20 bucks. Simple repair and saves you a ton of money and very simple and safe to leave it that way. Basically you find the ignition switch plug under the clam shell..Left side of wheel. Unplug it. Take the 1st wire, and then the 3rd wire..the second wire is two wires together so you know you have the right two..Use some wire strippers and take off about a 1/2" of insulation. Buy a cheap push button start switch,,like a Dorman brand,,at your local part store. Get some 14 gauge wire and hook one wire to each of the wires you stripped. I then soldered the connections and then wrapped with electrical tape. Wire in the push button starter as well as an inline fuse. Drill a small hole in the lower dash panel and put the push button into that....All you gotta do is put the key in the on position and push the starter button and off you go...Cheap reliable permanent fix. should of been fixed by Ford years ago. A simple search here on YT should find it for you for more verification on doing this job yourself.

Having the same exact issue. Apparently this is very common & the weather doesn't matter it was doing it during the summer & I had to push the key in to turn it on... Now, it won't start at all

Ford need to do a recall sounds like this happens a lot

The wheel locks. You need to turn it up and down fast while turning the key. Unlocks the wheel and allows the car to start.

i have a 2009 ford focus, and ive had this same problem, i assumed it was just my starter wearing out, or even the key its self. my car kinda does this when it wants to though. most days it starts just fine, but sometimes out of nowhere exactly what happens in this video happens to me, and its crazy to see im not alone.

I have the same is issue with my 2008 Ford Focus. Just started recently. It is like it has a mind of its own. Sometimes it starts fine, other times it takes several minutes of fiddling and praying until it finally decides to start. I originally thought it was a faulty battery, but everything turns on except the engine. It is really starting to get annoying.

since mine started happening.i took apart the steering bottom cover and i realise that i have to push the ignition switch towards the steering wheel.it starts everytime.sum it up i think the problem might be that plastic ignition switch gets worn down and the key wont make contact.but hot or cold i push the switch in and it start.no more waiting for ten minutes playing with other components.

I have a 2010 doing the same thing , It has a mind of it's own , Wiggle the wheel push key in hard and turn , Slam the door , shake the car , Once in awhile this stuff works , Until it's 10- out . I don't like OH boy hope my car starts going to or home from work . Ford needs to look into this .

Try pushing in the key deeper with pressure and turn super fast, ignition lock cylinder is worn out probably

I'm having this exact same problem. Sometimes it will start, other times nothing. My car is a 2008 Ford focus SE. I'm either getting this fixed or trading this car. And I guarantee that if I trade it. It won't be a Ford. I'm done with Ford.

I have an 2008 Ford Focus and I had to replace the ignition switch for $280, thing about it though is that my battery was completely dead so I had to replace it first. The whole time it probably was my battery which was $45 only it could have been solved quickly so be careful it might just be the battery and nothing else.

I have the exact same problem and it's pissing me off. I tried jumping it with a wire and now it wouldn't even turn on the fuel pump. It's the stupid ignore switch, or diode or starter relay / starter or the power fuse inside car, under driver dash. Fuse 27 20 amp. Check all of those.

I had same problem started a year ago, drove it less but I had to shove key in with a bit of force or wiggle key while starting and itll started fine, thinking about trying switch it to push to start and see if that by passes the problem.
