Presented exceptionally well. Right to the point, thorough explanations, adequate warnings and cautions, and pertinent visuals. Liked how you presented the option to do, or not to do, the overflow reservoir and provided info and detailed visual example (where it sits, etc.). Wish these you tube how-to videos were like this one.

Great video! For the record, Honda DOES NOT recommend a flush. They recommend exactly what you have demonstrated, a drain and fill. After watching this I am confident I can do this myself. Thanks!

Hey great video! I was waiting for the tip for how to know how much to put back in and you nailed it! It may also be a good idea to caution viewers that unless you do a full flush, you need to match coolant types! Different types don’t mix well and can develop sludge.

Great video. I doubt seriously you get 80% out from the radiator only. Typically radiator is less than 50% but you should look up the total capacity versus the drain amount. Those figures are important anyway if you ever flush the block/core with distilled water and need to know what to refill with for it won't be good to use 50/50 in that case for it would be impossible to get overall to 50/50. Hondas typically have a block drain bolt I thought which is a nice feature. Thanks for video!

Just draining the radiator is over 50 percent, these blocks hold very little coolant

For liability CYA you ought to put text at the beginning of this video instructing the viewer to wait until the engine is cool before trying to remove the radiator cap. Just sayin'. Otherwise, great video.

How do you know if you need to drain your coolant? Is there an indicator that comes up on your dashboard? My air conditioner isn’t working so I was going to drain the coolant and or put more in it but I didn’t know what to do.

The coolant should be replaced for maintenance reasons. Look in your owners manual for the recommended mileage. The coolant has nothing to do with the A/C system , unless the engine is overheating, some engines detect overheating and turn off the A/C. But the A/C is a separate system. There is a common problem on these cars with the A/C clutch magnetic coil failing. You should have someone check it out. There was an extended warranty on this, I will Google it and let you know.

The Honda service bulletin is 12-072, but is expired. It covered 2007-2011 for 7 years. It could still be your problem.

Where did you get the ramps you use in the video? They look safer than the ones that are a steep climb all at once. Thanks

@thexflexclan
@thexflexclan 5 лет назад
Randy Templeton aftermarket but before winter I will replace and remove the thermostat so I could replace pretty much all the coolant I fix the overheating issue I have in traffic it The coolant fan switch that someone put an aftermarket on it and it was failing out the the temperature wasn’t the correct one for the vehicle

fredy Calderon No idea. Sorry. You might move it to full with your finger then turn key on. Try that.

How do I burp the system or will it do it on its own?
@randytempleton5797
@randytempleton5797 2 года назад
It should burp on its own after the thermostat opens. Go drive it, watch the temperature gauge. Check the coolant level. Then check coolant level again the next morning and top it off if needed.

Why do you have to drain the anti-freeze? Can't you just fill it up with anti-freeze and not have to drain it?
@randytempleton5797
@randytempleton5797 6 лет назад
Steve Franco Antifreeze needs to be changed at the recommended intervals in your owners manual. It's like any fluid, it gets old and dirty and contaminated and needs changed, just like the engine oil.
